Rear mounting sockets for drawer slides

Bike Computer Compatibility

2023.06.09 23:01 EstablishmentFun289 Bike Computer Compatibility

I’m new to road cycling and looking for an inexpensive bike computer. I’ve been using my phone for now with the Strava app.
I like it, but it does slide downward and I’m worried it’s a distraction (and cost a lot more if it falls off or gets damaged). As a solo rider most times, I also like the becon option for safety.
I’m looking at some $50-70 options on Amazon, and there’s quite a few that have good reviews and claim they synch with Strava….but it seems like I’m not understanding it properly or they upload after the ride. So would I lose the becon option with a different setup? Am I better off just getting a better mount?

2023.06.09 22:44 timtastic What’s this (discontinued) part called?

What’s this (discontinued) part called?
I replaced the fronts on my discontinued AKURUM cabinets (thankfully I was able to fit ASKERSUND fronts fairly seamlessly). My only missing pieces are these tiny vinyl connectors for the stabilizing rod on some of the sliding drawers, but I’m unable to find a product name/number for the drawer hardware itself or for this specific piece.
IKEA doesn’t make MAXIMERA drawers in this size, and MAXIMERA uses different hardware to connect the stabilizing rods.
I’m also open to suggestions for how to kludge together a fix. I tried dowel rods, but haven’t found a decent way to attach them to the fronts (besides glue, which I’m hesitant to use) so they only provide one-way tension at the moment.

Releasing rear wheel with stabiliser bracket fitted
Bought my son a huffy moto x 12" for his 3rd birthday. The rear wheel needs adjusted as it off centre. The rear nuts have the stabiliser brackets fitted over them with a hole that looks like it would accept a socket. Except it doesn't. 16mm too small for nut 17mm to large for the hole. The imperial sizes inbetween aren't any better. The hole to the bottom is too small for a spanner or shifter. Help.

2023.06.09 22:04 Profecionallystupid Respect Jason Grace Thread [All] (Long)

Some time ago, I made two posts with some of Percy's best feats. The first one can viewed here. And the second: here.
Now I know that Jason isn't the most liked character in the fandom, but I like him. So I wanted to scale him.
Contents: Strength, speed, reaction speed, skill, durability, actual powers, Tl;dscaling, closing segment.

He was able to throw a club hard enough to knock down a Venti. Even causing it to curve so that it would hit Dylan when he tried to doge:
Jason threw the club. It seemed useless with the winds so strong, but the club flew right at Dylan, even curving when he tried to dodge, and smacked in the head so hard he fell to his knees
The Lost Hero
He was able to deflect a spear hit from a giant:
Jason raised his javelin to block the giant's next strike-a big mistake. Don't fight force with force, a voice chided him-the wolf Lupa, who told him that long ago. He managed to deflect the spear, but it grazed his shoulder, and his arm went numb.
The Lost Hero
The same giant was able to cause the entire mountain to shake just by slamming the butt of said spear into the ground:
Before they could get very far, Enceladus slammed his spear against the ground. The entire mountain shook.
The Lost Hero
Moving onto House of Hades, we see him casually shatter a metal with a kick, firmly putting him into the superhuman category of strength. Not only that, but he managed to stagger and knocked a giant to his knees:
One last time Jason flew at [Clytius], kicking him in the chest, and the giant's breastplate shattered. Clytius staggered backward..He fell to his knees, and the demigods encircled him
House of Hades
He was able to cut through a statue made of metal with help from Piper:
Piper and Jason went to work on Hygeia. They slashed through the statue's knees
Blood of Olympus
We are now done with Jason it the strength department. Obviously, he lacks many feats in this department, especially compared to Percy, but he is definitely stronger than an average human.
He was able to stab a giant:
[Jason] rolled away from the giant's first spear thrust and jabbed Enceladus in the ankle. Jason's javelin managed to pierce the thick dragon hide, and golden ichor-the blood of immortals-trickled down the giant's clawed foot.
The Lost Hero
This might not seem that impressive, but Jason was being slowed down by Gaea. The Giant was being helped by Gaea. Finally, the giant was predicting Jason's attacks:
Enceladus' spear missed him by a millimeter. Jason kept dodging, but the ground stuck to his feet. Gaea was getting stronger, and the giant was getting faster. Enceladus might be slow, but he was not dumb. He began anticipating Jason's moves, and Jason's attacks were only annoying him
The Lost Hero
We see this here again:
Enceladus let him approach, grinning with anticipation. At the last second, Jason faked a strike and rolled between the giant's legs. He came up quickly, thrusting with all his might, ready to stab the giant in the small of his back, but Enceladus anticipated the trick. He stepped aside with too much speed and agility for a giant, as if the earth were helping him move.
The Lost Hero
Reaction/ combat speed. This is where Jason really shines. As he has several impressive feats:
He was able to keep up with Lit. The same guy who was so good, he earned the name Reaper of Men:
Lit charged.
The guy was fast. He slashed and sliced, and Jason could barely dodge the strikes, but his mind went into a different mode-analyzing patterns, learning Lit's style, which was all offense, no defense.
The Lost Hero
He can react to giants:
Jason raised his javelin to block the giant's next strike-a big mistake. Don't fight force with force, a voice chided him-the wolf Lupa, who told him that long ago. He managed to deflect the spear, but it grazed his shoulder, and his arm went numb.
The Lost Hero
He scales to Percy in reaction speed and was able to amaze Piper:
[Piper] rolled to the edge of the road and looked back, dazed and horrified, as [Percy and Jason] crossed swords, gold against bronze. Sparks flew. Their blades blurred-strike and parry-and the pavement trembled. The first exchange only took a second, but Piper couldn't believe the speed of their sword fighting.
Mark of Athena
The same guy who I scaled to have reaction speed as fast as 10 milliseconds. And the average human reacts at 250 milliseconds.
He can react to lightning:
Jason called down another lightning strike, but Ephialtes caught it on his spear and deflected the blast, melting a life-size plastic cow. He slammed a stone column out of his way like a stack of building blocks. Percy tried to keep the lake churning. He didn’t want Otis rising to join this fight, but as Ephialtes closed the last few feet, Percy had to switch focus. Jason and he met the giant’s charge. They lunged around Ephialtes, stabbing and slashing in a blur of gold and bronze, but the giant parried every strike. “I will not yield!” Ephialtes roared. “You may have ruined my spectacle, but Gaea will still destroy your world!” Percy lashed out, slicing the giant’s spear in half. Ephialtes wasn’t even fazed. The giant swept low with the blunt end and knocked Percy off his feet. Percy landed hard on his sword arm, and Riptide clattered out of his grip. Mark of Athena
While technically not reacting to lighting, Percy fought a giant who could, so Ephialtes' reaction speed=Percy's. What I'm getting at here is Ephialtes can react to lightning. Percy can keep up with Ephialtes. So Percy=Ephialtes' reaction speed. Jason=Percy reaction speed. Therefore, Jason=Ephialtes' reaction speed.
Too much for you to follow, here:
Jason swung at the first spirit. His blade passed through it and the creature's smoky form disintegrated. The second spirit let loose a bolt of lightning, but Jason's blade absorbed the charge. Jason stepped in-one quick thrust, and the second storm spirit dissolved into gold powder
The Lost Hero
There you go.
He reacts to arrows:
This time Jason's senses were on high alert. He felt the air ripple as an arrow materialized, racing towards Nico's chest.
Jason intercepted it with his sword and deflected it sideways.
House of Hades
Now, Romans use a type of composite bow called a Sagittarii. Composite bows can shoot arrows as a speed of 250 to 370 feet per second (76 to 113 m/s).
Also keep in mind that he is nearsighted. Giving him even less time to react than normal:
"Oh, of course!" Asclepius said. "You're a bit nearsighted! Simple fix."
He opened the drawer, whipped out a prescription pad and an eyeglasses case. He scribbled something on the pad, then handed the glasses and the scrip to Jason.
Blood of Olympus
So all in all, he has some fast reaction speed. Well above human.
Next up, skill.
He can keep up with Lit, a man so deadly, he was named the Reaper of Men:
Lit charged.
The guy was fast. He slashed and sliced, and Jason could barely dodge the strikes, but his mind went into a different mode-analyzing patterns, learning Lit's style, which was all offense, no defense.
The Lost Hero
He did all of this:
"I slew the Trojan sea monster," Jason continued. "I toppled the black throne of Kronos, and destroyed the Titan Krios with my own hands. And now I'm going to destroy you, Porphyrion, and feed you to your own wolves."
The Lost Hero
He killed the Trojan sea monster and killed a Titan without a weapon.
He is immune to, or at least, resistant to electricity:
Dylan's form flickered. "That was enough lightning to kill twenty men!"
The Lost Hero
He survived this:
Enceladus let him approach, grinning with anticipation. At the last second, Jason faked a strike and rolled between the giant's legs. He came up quickly, thrusting with all his might, ready to stab the giant in the small of his back, but Enceladus anticipated the trick. He stepped aside with too much speed and agility for a giant, as if the earth were helping him move. He swept his spear sideways and met Jason's javelin-and with a snap like a shotgun blast, the golden weapon shattered.
The explosion was hotter than the giant's breath, blinding Jason with golden light. The force knocked him off his feet and squeezed the breath out of him.
The Lost Hero
While this is an already impressive feat, we have this to make this even more impressive:
The javlin's destruction had released so much energy, it had blasted a perfect cone-shaped pit thirty feet deep, fusing the dirt and rock into a slick, glassy substance.
The lost Hero
He was uncut by plastic shrapnel:
Together, the giants picked up a fake mountain as big as Percy's New York apartment and hurled it at the demigods. Percy and Jason bolted. They dove into the nearest trench and the mountain shattered above them, spraying them with plastic shrapnel.
Mark of Athena
He can tank a hit from a giant trident, although he was in a lot of pain:
Jason managed to avoid the prongs of the trident again, but the giant swung the other end around and smacked him in the chest.
Jason reeled back, stunned and in pain. Polybotes came in for the kill. Just before the trident would have perforated him, Jason's ventus acted on its own. It spiraled sideways, whisking Jason thirty feet across the courtyard.
Powers. This is another place he is impressive in. He has several abilities he can call on in a clutch:
He can correct aim of things he throws:
Jason threw the club. It seemed useless with the winds so strong, but the club flew right at Dylan, even curving when he tried to dodge, and smacked in the head so hard he fell to his knees
The Lost Hero
He can control air pressure:
[Jason] felt a tugging sensation in his gut, and the air pressure dropped so rapidly his ears popped.
The Lost Hero
He can summon Tempest, a horse made of wind and electricity:
Suddenly the air turned cold. Piper's ears popped. About fifty yards away, a miniature cyclone three stories tall tore across the tops of the sunflowers like a scene from The Wizard of Oz. It touched down on the road next to Jason and took the form of a horse-a misty steed with lightning flickering through its body
Mark of Athena
Jason and Percy working together can create a massive storm:
On the deck of the Argo II, Percy and Jason stood together, their swords crossed. Annabeth got a tingle down her spine as she realized the boys were working together as one, summoning the sky and the sea to do their bidding. Water and wind churned together. Waves heaved against the ramparts and lightning flashed. Giant eagles were knocked out of the sky. Wreckage of the flying chariot burned in the water, and Coach Hedge swung a mounted crossbow, taking potshots at the Roman birds as the flew overhead.
The Mark of Athena
Jason can fly and carry people with him:
Jason summoned the wind to carry him and Piper to shore
Mark of Athena
He can cause water to boil and temporarily blind Piper:
BOOM! Lightning stirred the water into a boiling cauldron, steaming and hissing with electricity. Piper blinked the yellow spots out her eyes as the god Achelous wailed and dissolved under beneath the surface
Mark of Athena
He can use wind offensively:
The demigods rolled to either side, and Jason summoned the wind, using the giant's own momentum to shove him into the water
Mark of Athena
He can get angry enough to generate electricity:
the air turned electric-literally, as Jason started throwing off sparks.
Mark of Athena
He can melt iron and cause gold to steam:
Just then, thunder boomed overhead. Lightning flashed, and the bars on the nearest window burst into sizzling, melted stubs of iron.
Jason flew in like Peter Pan, electricity sparking around him and his gold sword steaming.
House of Hades
Jason has the ability to track people who use winds as a method of transport so things like air spirits can't run from him:
Jason couldn't exactly see him, but he'd had enough experience controlling the wind that he could track the angel's path-a warm wisp of red and gold zipping across the street..
House of Hades
He can control the four winds and even construct this out of wind:
[Jason] thrust out his hand. A swirl of dust shot toward the nearest horse. A lasso-a rope of wind, more tightly wound than any tornado-wrapped around the horse's neck. ..In less than a minute he had tethered all four venti. He reined them in, still whining and bucking, but they couldn't break Jason's rope. It felt like flying four kites in a strong wind-hard, yes, but not impossible.
House of Hades
He uses wind defensively:
Jason summoned gusts of wind to last aside javelins and arrows. He deflected a vial of Greek fire right up the throat of a gryphon, which burst into flames and spiraled into the pit.
House of Hades
He can carry others without having to fly himself:
Three dead Romans rose into the air and flew across the chasm. Then three more joined them. Finally Jason flew himself across and his squad began cutting through some very surprised-looking telkhines
House of Hades
He can use a sword or a javelin:
Jason slashed his gladius in a wide arc, vaporizing the nearest suitors; then he vaulted onto the table and jumped over Antinous' head. In midair he willed his bade to extend into a javelin-a trick he'd never tried with this sword-but somehow he knew it would work.
Blood of Olympus
He once more demonstrates his ability to create objects from air and now he can encase himself in air armor:
[Jason] raised his arm and summoned a lasso of wind... He lashed out with his wind rope, searching for strongest, most ornery *ventus in the storm.
He lassoed a nasty patch of storm cloud and pulled it in. "You're serving me today."
Howling in protest, the ventus encircled him. The storm above the ship seemed to lessen just a bit, as if the other venti were thinking Oh, crud. That guy means business.
Jason levitated off the deck, encased in his own miniature tornado. Spinning like a corkscrew, he plunged into the water.
Jason is capable of summoning weird lightning stuff at the bottom of the ocean. Also worth noting it is still as deadly and didn't shock Percy who was also in the water next to him. On top of that, he can now separate the volts to attack multiple targets instead of just one:
But [Jason] couldn't think of a better option. He thrust up his sword. Immediately the blade glowed red-hot.
A diffuse cloud of yellow light billowed through the depths, like someone had poured liquid neon into the water. The light hit Jason's sword and splayed outward in ten separate tendrils, zapping the basiliks.
Blood of Olympus
He can carry a current throughout his body, holding it for latter:
With a deafening blast, a white-hot bolt arced from the sky, straight through Jason's body as he leaped, wreathed in lightning, at the giant king.
Jason fell on King Porphyrion with such force that the giant crumpled to his knees-blasted with lightning and stabbed in the neck with a golden gladius.
He can blast a 30 foot giant off a clif:
Porphyrion lashed out wildly with his spear, but Jason cut it in half with his gladius. He charged in, jabbing his sword through the giant's breastplate, then summoned the winds and blasted Porphyrion off the edge of the cliff.
Blood of Olympus
Tl;dr and scaling: So Jason is powerful. He is definitely superhuman in al physical states. I am going to say, city level durability. His power level is at mountain level.
Closing segment: Honestly I think he could have been more powerful if we'd seen him in more books. Also I didn't use a Trials of Apollo feats as there I didn't find any. If you see any feats I missed let me know so I can scale them. So what did you think? Did this make you see Jason as more or less powerful than you originally thought? Who else would you like me to scale?
Respect Jason Grace, son of the sky god, Zeus!

2023.06.09 21:45 Zombilles Super 73 ZX Strange rear issue

Recently, I've had a rather strange problem with the rear of my bike for a good 2 months now.
When I lift or put down the rear of my bike, I feel as if something is "tapping" at the wheel, I feel it especially at the rear handle, behind the saddle. Same thing when I'm in low speed (about 20km/h) clearly something "taps" at the wheel, then nothing after 30km/h. I have no idea where it comes from, the wheel doesn't seem to move from it's socket though.
And it's not the engine, I've got no problem with that.
Otherwise the bike works perfectly
I have no idea where it's coming from
If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

2023.06.09 21:37 tmurphss TJ in frame rebuild update… long read, story time.

So a little over a year ago I rebuilt the 4.0 in my 2004 wrangler, found out it had busted piston skirts, bad lifter and burnt valves on the head. That was dec 2021.
I ended up getting it all back together and was fighting low oil pressure and crazy vacuum problems. I put in undersized crank bearings and a high volume oil pump and put the ccv elbows in the valve cover in the right spot and I had been nearly daily driving it for around 10k miles with no problems. Then an emergency braking ( or lack of) situation put it back under the knife in February this year. Emergency stop with 33’s, no ABS, or functioning rear brakes doesn’t make for the best stopping distance and I rear ended another vehicle on my way home from work one evening.
Ended up smashing the front end pretty good, airbags deployed, and it wouldn’t run. At the time it had a 3 inch body lift, (bought it that way) the force from the accident actually deformed the body on the mounts, but luckily frame and all running gear was fine.
I was able to rebuild it. And here is a link of the pictures of the progress…
First thing I did was get rid of all the damaged parts, good, grill, fenders, radiator, ac condenser, fan and clutch, and power steering pump pulley.
I started putting it back together to see if it would run. I replaced the fan and clutch, the power steering pulley and put the belt back on just to see if it would fire. It didn’t. I had no gauges and it would t fire, it would crank without any bad sounds though so that was a good sign. Turns out the fender got pushed back into the firewall and damaged the ECM. Used one on eBay that was for the same year, engine, and transmission, plugged it in and and it fired right up.
I still had no radiator or cooling so I didn’t run it long but drove it into the yard to try and straighten the body mounts. I was slightly successful, pulled from the bumper with board against a tree and the firewall to hold the body but pull the frame to shift everything. It’s still offset a bit but it was a little better.
I decided I didn’t like the 3 inch body lift, too much hanging down under the body and you could still see the lean in the body mounts exaggerated because of the height. Also the extensions on the grill mounting locations broke, so I started looking for a new body mount set. I ended up getting a 1 inch body lift because I could get it with all new mounts and new bolts cheaper than going back with original, so I changed those out.
Since I got it running it was time for bodywork.
I got a used grill on Facebook marketplace and a new hood ( Houston auto was 240 cash and I picked it up, new stamping but I can tell it’s thinner gauge) and I painted them with rustoleum gloss black and a rattle can 2k clear coat in my barn. For anyone wondering it’s not a perfect match for px8 paint code, looks more brown in direct sunlight but it works for me for now hahah.
For fenders I found a used set that had been cut and got the smittybilt tube fenders, both of those together would be cheaper than new fenders and flares so I went that route.
Got a new ac condenser on Amazon, used radiator on fb marketplace, new radiator support rods that tie to the firewall from eBay, and bolted everything together, filled up the radiator and found the water pump leaking. So took everything back apart to replace the water pump.
I replaced the back brakes, new drums and shoes and now those work and I have a parking brake now.
After that since mechanically it was good, I pulled the whole dash apart to replace the airbags, got those on eBay. They are not easy to replace let me tell ya. Also ended up having to replace the steering wheel clock spring also, but after that no airbag light on dash and everything is back together.
Now it’s all back together and I’ve gotten a little over 1000 miles on it. This thing is a love hate relationship. Ended up right under $3k on repairs.

2023.06.09 21:29 drueckberger Questions about the Simlab P1-X Cockpit

Questions about the Simlab P1-X Cockpit
I own a GT Omega APEX Wheel Stand + rear seat frame and now I want to upgrade to the Simlab P1-X. I own the Simagic Alpha Wheelbase and today my new VRS Pedals arrived.
My questions are:
  1. the VRS pedals can be connected directly to the pedal deck without any problems, right?Or is a pedal plate the better option?
  2. on the pedal deck, I see a gap between the cross struts in the picture. Why is it there? Do I have to buy an additional heelrest to close the gap? If so, do you have any recommendations?
  3. or is the GT1 EVO Sim Racing Cockpit in the 2023 version an alternative? However, the price difference if I also get the front mount for the Evo is "only" 300€.
Sorry if the questions are a bit stupid, but I just don't want to do anything wrong and forget anything when ordering.
Thanks a lot in advance!

2023.06.09 21:24 braden41500 I put my money where my mouth is - 1 week post AFM delete on a 2010 5.3 LTZ

I put my money where my mouth is - 1 week post AFM delete on a 2010 5.3 LTZ
Title says it all. I recently purchased a 2010 Silverado 1500 LTZ with 225k miles for 6k. I bought this truck knowing it had the beginnings of lifter failure, and a few other fun things going on with it. I did a little research, and I saw some info that gave me hope. It seems that a top end rebuild combined with a AFM delete could save my block if I did it soon, so I shopped around and found a local guy willing to do it for 3k all in. I added in 1k in other tid bits that needed doing (new timing chain assembly, new rear main, new motor mounts, etc) and he got started. Two weeks later, and I have pics of the carnage the failed lifter did on my motor as well as a new respect for these LS long blocks.
As you can see in the pics, my cam was ATE UP. And the pitted lifter was not a happy girl.
I could have taken the opportunity to swap in a stage 1 cam, but I decided against paying for 91 octane for life in my grocery getter. I’ll save that for the vette build :)
1 week post op, I’ve only had 1 major issue. A power steering pump line was a little loose and ended up gushing fluid all over my local H‑E‑B. Sorry HEB. Got it tightened up and no problems since
All in all I am very happy- no more tick! No more leaks! And hopefully another 100k out of a good old truck. Feel free to dm me with any questions on the work. And thanks for the advice!

2023.06.09 21:18 someotherjim Parting out motor/drivetrain kit that served me for 20+ years ~ how best to sell things?

tldr; I let emotional attachment misguide me into pulling things out vs selling a complete vehicle ~ I am keeping the chassis I've been running for 27 years... silly, I know. Too late to undo so how best to sell the parts to help fund the next version? Thx
--longer story--
My 88.5 Samurai for over 20 years had been successfully running a G16B from a 97 tracker, 97's FI tank, 87 Sam 5spd, rebuilt Sam rocklobster case n bracket, 97 gauge cluster, 97 wire loom.
Recently, I blew my rear ARB and while planning out the upgrade to Toyota axles, I lost focus on the task at hand and got carried away...
Unfortunately, the MORE POWER bug got me while I was stuck indoors last winter and I pulled all of the current parts out (and yes, I already regret it).
Plan was to sit on store parts until the MORE POWER swap was completed, then buy a drivetrain-less Samurai, install there, and sell that (or give it to my wife) but I'm out of time and storage space = need to reduce the number of projects.
Any advice on how best to sell?
Any and all advice welcome. TIA

2023.06.09 20:58 writeoutthebox Blood, Sweat & Tears

“Blood, Sweat & Tears” I stare at the cracked mirror in the dimly lit backstage room, trying to recognise the person staring back at me. The once vibrant eyes now carry a weariness that no amount of success can erase. My name is Jake, and I've poured every ounce of my being into becoming a rock star, but lately, I've begun to question if it was worth it. Our band, "The Fallen," was born in the dingy basement of a rundown apartment building. We were just a group of misfits with a shared dream and an insatiable hunger for music. Countless hours were spent rehearsing, writing songs, and playing in empty dive bars, hoping for that one breakthrough that could change our lives. And finally, it came. We secured our first tour, hopping from city to city in a rickety old van, living off fast food and cheap motels. The late nights and endless miles became our companions as we played our hearts out in front of dwindling audiences. But perseverance paid off when we caught the attention of a record label executive who saw the raw potential in us. Our first album, "Blood, Sweat & Tears," became an instant hit. It climbed the charts, and our faces adorned magazine covers. The relentless touring took its toll, but we revelled in the adoration of fans, the exhilaration of sold-out concerts, and the euphoria that surged through our veins with every chord struck on stage. However, the dark side of success soon reared its head. The constant pressure, the unrelenting expectations, and the ever-mounting stress began to wear us down. I, in particular, felt the weight of it all crushing my spirit. The exhaustion led to sleepless nights and moments of crippling self-doubt that turned into bouts of depression. And then came the blackouts. I wake up in unfamiliar places, covered in sweat, my heart pounding against my ribcage. My mind is blank, unable to account for the hours that slipped away. Panic grips me as I frantically search for clues, wondering what I might have said or done during those lost moments. The fear of becoming a stranger to myself consumes me, and I'm left questioning my sanity. Inside the band, tensions rise. The arguments that used to be minor disagreements now escalate into full-blown fights. Trust begins to erode as egos clash, and resentment festers beneath the surface. The harmony we once had as a united force of music becomes distorted, replaced by discordant notes that threaten to tear us apart. As the fame grows, so does the darkness that lingers around us. I can't help but wonder if this is the price we pay for chasing our dreams. The success that once felt like salvation now feels like a curse, and I'm left wondering if there's any way to escape the shadows that haunt us. The once vibrant energy of "The Fallen" now hangs heavy with an ominous tension. We've reached a crossroads where the very foundation of our band threatens to crumble beneath the weight of our personal demons. As the second act of our story unfolds, the true horrors lurking in the shadows are about to be unleashed. The strain on our relationships becomes unbearable, like a frayed guitar string on the verge of snapping. Each member of the band carries their own burdens, and the pressure cooker of emotions can no longer contain the mounting resentment. Arguments turn into bitter confrontations, hurling accusations and insults that cut deep into our souls. But the dissonance within us pales in comparison to the malevolent presence that seems to infiltrate our lives. Strange occurrences haunt our days and nights, testing the boundaries of our sanity. Instruments mysteriously detune, creating discordant melodies that grate on our nerves. Eerie whispers echo through the corridors of our tour bus, leaving us trembling in the darkness. My blackouts intensify, their duration stretching into hours, and the fear of what I might become during those lost moments gnaws at the edges of my consciousness. It's as if a malevolent force takes control, using my body as a vessel for its own nefarious desires. I wake up with bloodstained hands, surrounded by shattered glass and broken memories. Paranoia takes hold, and we start to suspect each other. The camaraderie we once shared is replaced by a toxic cocktail of suspicion and fear. Our music, once a means of escape and expression, now becomes a conduit for something darker. The lyrics we pen are laced with sinister undertones, haunting melodies that seem to summon an otherworldly presence. As we delve deeper into the abyss, we discover a disturbing truth. Our rise to fame was not simply a product of talent and hard work but a pact we unknowingly made when we were desperate for success. The price we paid for our dreams was steeper than we ever imagined. An ancient curse, tied to the music we create, has awakened forces beyond our comprehension. Our very souls are entwined with the darkness, and it feeds on our anguish, our struggles, and our desperation. The success we once craved has become a prison, a never-ending nightmare from which we cannot escape. With each passing day, the malevolent presence grows stronger, its grip on our minds and bodies tightening like a vice. It's clear that we must confront the origins of this curse and find a way to break free, or risk losing ourselves entirely to the abyss. But can we find the strength to overcome the horrors that surround us and reclaim our lives, or are we destined to become mere instruments in a symphony of madness? The depths of despair have claimed my bandmates, leaving me standing amidst a gruesome tableau of carnage and unanswered questions. The discovery of their lifeless bodies shocks me to the core. Crimson splatters paint the walls, turning our once vibrant sanctuary into a macabre canvas. Their eyes, once filled with dreams and determination, now stare into the abyss, their souls forever silenced. How did it come to this? Did our pact with the shadows consume them, or is there a more sinister force at play? The room whispers secrets, but they remain locked within the shadows, refusing to reveal their dark truths. Fragmented memories of our recent days together haunt my mind, merging with the echoes of my blackouts. Did I become an unwitting puppet, dancing to the malevolent tune of the curse? Or was I merely a witness to a horror that defies comprehension? The weight of guilt presses upon my shoulders, threatening to break me. The once unbreakable bond we shared, the brotherhood forged in music, now feels like a curse. Doubt seeps into the cracks of my sanity, intertwining with the tendrils of the darkness that has plagued us from the beginning. How could I have let it come to this? Was there any way to save them, or was their fate sealed from the moment we struck that infamous bargain? As I stand amidst the wreckage of shattered dreams and shattered lives, the truth remains elusive, buried deep within the haunting melody of our story. The horror of the unknown lingers, forever shrouding our final chapter in mystery. Was it the curse that claimed their lives, or was it my own hand stained with their blood? The echoes of their music resonate within me, their voices mingling with the haunting questions that will haunt me until my last breath. So, as I stand above the four dead members of my band, covered in blood, I wonder, was it all worth it? The End.

2023.06.09 20:58 BreadInaoven AMR1 Aston Martin

The Aston Martin AMR1 was a Group C formula racing car developed in 1989 for car manufacturer Aston Martin. It participated in the 1989 World Sports Prototype Championship and 1989 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Aston Martin AMR1 Aston Martin racer - 1000kms race - Brands Hatch - 1989 (6976660710).jpg Aston Martin AMR1 at 1989 1000 km Brands Hatch Category Group C sports prototype Constructor Aston Martin Proteus Technologies Designer(s) Max Bostrom Ray Mallock Technical specifications Chassis Carbon-kevlar monocoque Suspension (front) Independent, double wishboned with anti-roll bar Suspension (rear) Independent, double wishboned with anti-roll bar Length 4,780 mm (188.2 in) Width 1,990 mm (78.3 in) Height 1,020 mm (40.2 in) Wheelbase 2,900 mm (114.2 in) Engine Aston Martin (Callaway) RDP87 5,998 cc/6,300 cc alloy V8, Zytec ECU naturally aspirated, mid-longitudinally mounted Transmission 5-speed Manual Weight 902 to 988 kg (1,988 to 2,178 lb) Tyres Goodyear Eagle
Following Aston Martin's racing efforts as an engine supplier for Nimrod Racing and EMKA Racing in the early 1980s, it was decided that Aston Martin would develop their own car for the World Sports Prototype Championship. Thus in late 1987, a partnership between Peter Livanos, Victor Gauntlett, Richard Williams and Ray Mallock - through his shareholding in Scottish racing firm Ecurie Ecosse would be formed, creating a new company known as Proteus Technology Ltd. (Protech). The team would develop and run the AMR1 project, competing for the first time during the 1989 season.
Richard Williams was named as the organisations managing director and team manager. Ray Mallock was engineering director, with him, Max Boxstrom would be the lead designer and Reeves Callaway, of Callaway Cars Incorporated, would build the engine. The chassis and bodywork designed by Boxstrom would be built by British firm Courtaulds. For the engine, Callaway would use 5.3 L V8 units from the newly launched Virage, ending up with a 700 hp (522 kW) 6.0 L engine known as the RDP87. The engine was fitted with a 100 litre fuel cell with a 6.5 litre reserve for extra range. With this combination, a total of four AMR1 chassis would be finished in early 1989.[1]
With AMR1/01 completed, testing began in preparation for the first race at Suzuka Circuit in Japan. Unfortunately, AMR1/01 was involved in an accident during testing at Donington Park and was damaged beyond repair. Thus Aston Martin was forced to skip the first round, incurring a $250,000 fine by FIA's newly amended rule which required C1 cars to enter all round of the season and instead premiered chassis AMR1/01 at Dijon-Prenois, where it finished a disappointing 17th.
Although not part of the World Sports Prototype Championship in 1989, Aston Martin next turned to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Two cars were entered, chassis #01 and #03. The cars unfortunately were underpowered in comparison to their competitors, qualifying 32nd and 40th in a field of 56 cars. During the race itself, the cars were able to run in the mid-pack before AMR1/03 suffered electrical problems and was forced to retire during the first half of the race. AMR1/01 was able to continue on, was able to finish in 11th place overall.
Due to a lack of time between Le Mans and the 3rd round of the World Sports Prototype Championship, Aston Martin decided to skip it, returning instead at Brands Hatch where AMR1/04 took home an exciting 4th-place finish in front of the British crowd, then following it up with an 8th-place finish at the Nürburgring.
For the 6th round of the year, the World Sports Prototype Championship again returned to British soil. Aston Martin therefore decided to run two AMR1s at Donington Park, debuting newly built chassis #05. The two cars were able to finish 6th and 7th. Both cars raced again at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps where Aston Martin suffered their only other failure to finish in the season, chassis #04 having suffered engine failure. However, chassis #05, which had now been upgraded with an even more powerful 720 hp, Version II 6.3 L V8, was able to finish a respectable 7th. For the final round in Mexico, Aston Martin decided to take only chassis #05, where they finished 8th.
Ending the season, Aston Martin had finished 6th in the Teams Championship, behind the factory Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Jaguar, and Nissan teams, although they were able to defeat the Toyota team.

2023.06.09 20:54 BreadInaoven Mercedes Benz Sauber C9

The Sauber C9 (later named the Sauber Mercedes C9 or Mercedes-Benz C9) is a Group C prototype race car introduced in 1987 as a continuation of the partnership between Sauber as a constructor and Mercedes-Benz as an engine builder for the World Sportscar Championship. The C9 replaced the Sauber C8
The C9 was a development of Sauber's previous C8 design, retaining a monocoque that largely consisted of aluminium, although considerably stiffer and with numerous other improvements. The rear suspension changed from vertically positioned spring/damper units arranged over the top of the gearbox to a horizontal layout aligned with the longitudinal axis of the car. Aerodynamic changes included the repositioning of the combination of oil/water radiator to the nose of the car, which allowed the use of a modified splitter plate. Commensurate with the repositioning of the radiators, the large NACA ducts were removed from the top of the door sills. The rear deck had been considerably re-profiled and the rear wing was now mounted solely on a central support. Aerodynamically, the car had two configurations: one for sprint circuits and a low drag version for the 5.8 kilometre Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans. In its sprint configuration, it produced 2,222.1 kg (4,899 lb) of downforce at 320 km/h (200 mph) while generating 555.7 kg (1,225 lb) of drag. The sprint circuit configuration had a L/D ratio of 4:1 while the low drag version was around 3:1.[1] The early engines were again prepared by Swiss engine specialist, Heini Mader, though this is now known to have been a cover for Mercedes back door involvement with the project later on. It had been progressively lightened with the use of a new crankshaft, higher efficiency KKK turbochargers and a liner-less block. It was a semi-stressed part of the chassis and ran a dry sump. There were no special qualifying engines and on 2.2 bar of boost it was said to be rated at "almost 800 hp (811 PS; 597 kW)". Maximum race boost was 1.9 bar. Maximum RPM was 7,000 but drivers generally kept to 6,500 during races. The torque curve was almost uniform between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm, giving the engine plenty of flexibility.[2] The engine retained a cross plane crankshaft and the firing order was 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2. Later M119HL engines were sourced from the Mercedes engine facility at Untertürkheim, supervised by Hermann Hiereth.[3] The addition of 16 valve heads in 1989 took power up by about 20 hp (20 PS; 15 kW) to around 720 hp (730 PS; 537 kW) at 1.6 bar and 7,000 RPM. The increase in fuel efficiency meant absolute power could also be taken from just under 800 hp with 2.2 bar of boost to about 820 hp (831 PS; 611 kW).[4]
For its debut season in 1987, the cars were run by Kouros Racing, named after the fragrance brand of its parent company, Yves Saint Laurent, although backed by Mercedes-Benz in a semi-official capacity. The deal was to last five races.[5] The team managed a mere twelfth in the teams standings, scoring points in only a single round. For 1988, the sponsorship deal with Kouros was not renewed and the team was renamed Sauber Mercedes. This coincided with a change of senior management at Mercedes and the announcement in January by new deputy chairman Prof. Dr Werner Niefer that the company would support Group C sportscars.[6] As a result, Mercedes was sponsored by AEG-Olympia – AEG being owned by Daimler-Benz at the time, effectively giving the team full factory support. The team's management was bolstered by former BMW M team manager Jochen Neerpasch and Swiss former driver Max Welti.[7] They managed to finish second in the championship behind the Jaguar XJR-9 with five wins for the season. Unfortunately at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team suffered an embarrassing setback when they were forced to withdraw due to concern over their Michelin tyres after Klaus Niedzwiedz suffered a blow out at high speed.
Finally, in 1989, the car was able to achieve great success. Besides replacing the black colour scheme with Mercedes' traditional plain silver scheme and reducing AEG to the role of minor sponsor, the older M117 5.0 L turbocharged V8 engine was upgraded to the M119, which replaced steel heads with new four-valve aluminium heads. The engine had a Group C capacity equivalence of 8.454 litres. The C9 was able to win all but one race in the 1989 season, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. During qualifying, the Baldi/Acheson/Brancatelli C9 recorded a speed of 400 km/h (248 mph) on the Mulsanne Straight.[8] In spite of this, it was the car of SchlesseJabouille/Cudini which occupied pole position on race day. The Sauber C9s would go on to finish first, second and fifth in the race. Mercedes driver Jean-Louis Schlesser would end up taking the driver's championship that season.
The C9 would be replaced by the Mercedes-Benz C11 from the second race onwards of the 1990 season, when it took one final win in the first race

Peugeot Refreshes The 508 For 2024 With A New Face And Engine Upgrades
Peugeot has just unveiled an upgraded version of its flagship vehicle, the 508 in both sedan and station wagon models with a new face and new engines which shall be explored now.

The revised D-segment compacts that will hit showrooms in June are easily distinguished from the models launched in 2018 by their narrower LED Matrix headlights (standard across the range) and three DRL claw marks below each light unit instead of the single fang seen on the current cars. The lower grille has champed shape and now turns down rather than up at the ends, giving the car less of a smiley face, but the biggest change is reserved for the grille, which flows into the bumper below it and features Peugeot’s latest badge.

Moving at the back, the full-LED taillights boast a fresh take on the same three-claw motif. Customers will be able to pick from three new colors (Okenite White, Titanium Grey, Eclipse Blue), three trim levels (Allure, GT, Peugeot Sport Engineered), and several alloy wheel designs in sizes from 17 to 20 inches. For the range-topping PSE, the French brand installs Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Inside, the 508 receives much of the technology seen elsewhere in the Peugeot line-up, with a redesigned dashboard and center console. It gains a 10-in central infotainment display partnered with Peugeot’s 12-in i-Cockpit system and a compact steering wheel. As well as voice recognition, sat-nav, a motorized boot, two USB sockets, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 508 benefits from a night vision camera that can detect cyclists, animals, and pedestrians.

Power starts with an i3 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline unit with 130 horsepower. For Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, Peugeot also equips the 508 with a bigger i4, 1.6-liter producing 218 hp. Alternatively, customers can go for the i4, 1.5-liter turbodiesel with 130 hp.

A pair of plug-in hybrid powertrains are offered in two-wheel-drive guise by combining a 150-hp or 180-hp gasoline engine with an 81-kilowatt electric motor for a combined output of 180-hp and 225-hp, respectively. Step up to the 508 PSE and you get a 200-hp gasoline engine an 81-kW motor linked to the automatic transmission and an 83-kW motor at the rear. Combined, these produce 360 hp delivered to both axles.

2023.06.09 17:12 __Madman Towing "eyes" on a 1998 940

Hello, so I bought a 940 lately and it did what all my cars do - broke down. Now it's parked in my driveway and I need to tow it to my mechanic. My question is, where should be the "loop" I would use to attach a rope in the front? I didn't find any screw-in style "eyes" with the car, so is it permanently mounted somewhere or do I have to buy it now? I don't see any for sale marked 940 tho.
On the sidenote, I don't have one mounted at the rear, as seen here. I just have an empty hole in the bumper.
Is it the same loop for the front and rear? I was expecting permanent rear loop, and screw-in "eye" in plain sight at the front.
Thanks in advance, I'm lost in this.

HELP Chain tensioner disc brake mounts for surly steam roller ( vertical dropouts)
I have a cool idea for my surly steam roller and would like to put a rear disc brake on it I looked into chain tensioner BMX disc brake mounts it's just they say that they are for specific BMX racing bike and I'm not Shure on the comparability If no adapter exists I have a friend that welds tandem bikes so that is a option but if I could skip that it would be great any advice is awesome, thanks
