I have an older sister who I am NC with. After my mother died, she was cut-throat greedy, and she did so many gross things for scraps of what was almost nothing to start with - but she had kids, she said, and she clearly believed that meant I should have allowed her behavior to go unchecked. After our mother died, she also began to weaponize her children against me by not allowing me to see them when I wouldn’t tolerate her outrageous behavior and began to set personal boundaries. She still allowed my husband to see the kids for years, I think in an attempt to hurt me and to continue receiving gifts since we are very generous when it comes to that kind of stuff. When I recently started just giving only the children gifts and cutting back or eliminating gifts for my sister and her husband, she began to stop inviting even him to birthday and holiday celebrations. Over the past year, he hasn’t been allowed to see or speak with the kids with the exception of about fifteen minutes to give them their ‘22 Christmas gifts (my sister manages who they can receive texts and calls from on their phones , and apparently my husband does not make the cut). Their main birthday gifts were given at the same time since he hadn’t been able to see them before, though I still sent them small items via Amazon.
Flash forward to a little more than a decade after my mom passed, and I will continue to be sure to send her kids gifts for birthdays and Christmas. I always send a letter with the gift telling them about why I chose what I am giving (I have continued to refuse my sister’s demands for specific items or gift cards of a certain amount because that is not how I choose to give gifts), but I haven’t seen or spoken to them since my mom died. My mom knew that my sister would behave like this since my sister weaponized her children against my mother too, and she made me promise to do everything I could to remain a positive influence in their lives. My sister has always done anything she can for money and attention (and her husband is literally the greediest person I have ever met), and my mom knew that the kids would grow up entitled and spoiled without other influences in their lives. So this is how I remain a presence in their lives while still maintaining my own boundaries with my sister.
All this being said, my younger sister knows I love to laugh at the insta-self my older sister presents to the world, and she told me that the family is currently on a trip to Paris where my sister is being her basic fake self. I am clearly bitter and petty about how I have been treated (know thyself - lol), so curiosity got the best of me. I wish it hadn’t. I snooped their family Insta accounts, and this is the first time I have seen a visual representation of the level of entitlement my mom knew would grow from my sister’s parenting. Among many “insta-worthy” ridiculous posts that aggrandize their life and this specific trip, my sister has posted pictures of my 16 year-old niece at the Louvre TOUCHING MUSEUM PIECES. Like, in one she is basically laying the entire top of her body on an Egyptian antiquity. It just makes me sad and angry that they are being raised to believe this kind of behavior is normal. I’m sure raising children is difficult, and I am far from perfect myself, but seeing this level of parental entitlement for their children is mind-boggling to me. This is not normal behavior, right? Admittedly, I have never gone to Paris due to an aversion caused by my older sister’s obsession with all things Paris that began in high school, so maybe I’m wrong and the Louvre is actually full of hands-on exhibits that let you touch priceless statues and artifacts? I feel like I would have heard about this were it the case though. Lol

TL;DR: Employer aware of my ASD fired me for NC/NS after forgetting the day before I said I was taking a mental health day, first time calling off at job.
I’m highly skilled in the culinary industry and I work real hard. Every employer and coworker I had says they don’t know how I work as hard as I do.
Compensation. I know I am not one of the cool kids, I don’t find “fart joke, sex pun, THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID” cheap humor to be funny. I don’t know the superheroes. I barely follow sports (though I enjoy). I know the only way I gain acceptance is through my work, show and prove. Rarely I find people I really bond with, but I always fall for the “we care about you” and “we really need you here.”
I’ve had plenty of jobs where I needed a break or even just a mental health day. Employers are okay with people missing work for drug and alcohol related issues, taking a day off for family time, or for obvious made up illness reasons (ie: pinkeye and shingles for one day). Hell, this place let someone take a day off because they got pulled over on their way in, allegedly. When I try to take time off for mental health, which they are aware of, I always get told that I “just hang in there a little longer.”
Thanks to autism guilt and inadvertent familial conditioning, I cannot turn down requests from employers; work on days off, shorten vacation/leaves.
My current (maybe) job, I had been there a year and a half. The place is a sensory overload hell; extremely bright, severely loud; but I was able to manage being in the prep area. I told them at hiring and when asked to work the line that I couldn’t do it full time, all of the time. Eventually, that was disregarded and I was not just on the line full time, all of the time, but also covering extra shifts; days off or doubling up my work day.
Last Spring into October, I covered over 30 shifts (I keep track of dumb shit), including 7 for a coworker that befriended me. He later became a manager which becomes relevant in a bit.
Thanksgiving week I had RO’d months in advance to go out of state hunting with my dad and nephew. Every year can be the last with my dad (we had a strained relationship which we didn’t speak for over a decade) and this would be my nephew’s first season, which he idolizes me. Come time for that and our GM said they needed me for Friday after because of staffing.
I spent Thanksgiving alone traveling, which pissed off both sides (parents divorced young) of my family. I cut my trip in half, wasted the hunting part of it really, and they sent me home with just under 4h worked that day. Just before Christmas I got sick but went to work every day anyway. I mentioned being sick and gotten little sleep and asked about leaving early. I was told we were too short staffed.
I had plans for a friend’s birthday, that falls on Christmas, for a day I was normally not scheduled. They had me scheduled for that day and asked me to cover two shifts for someone calling out. When I asked if I could have the one day off for covering two, I was denied as they didn’t have anyone to cover me.
That month long stretch, plus holiday stress, a physical injury, lack of sleep due to illness, I ended up stuck having daily meltdowns. I addressed this with the aforementioned manager who befriended me. They assured me they understood and can deal with it, to which I replied that it was highly embarrassing for me and that it hurts me outside of work.
I had begun to look for a second job to try to split time and find a place not so overstimulating. I asked to make scheduling changes to do this and was told how badly I was needed. Went through two months of being scheduled days I asked to have off to start this job, had to keep stringing along the other job.
Last week, they decided to have me close Friday and open Saturday. This is a difficult schedule for anyone, but someone with ASD in their mid 40s who is already burned out? I didn’t eat Friday so I could hope to sleep, I woke up throwing up water. I couldn’t hold down water for a few hours. I went to work anyways. Wednesday, my coworkers were telling me how I should have called off. I told them it was good I didn’t, as we had two call offs to illness. Thursday, I spoke with the manager I thought was a friend, that said he cared and would help, that I couldn’t work tomorrow (yesterday) because I can’t make the turn around and needed a mental health day.
So I took a mental health day and visited my mom, who I haven’t seen since Christmas. As I am visiting, a coworker messaged me upset that I didn’t say goodbye to her. I was confused and said I just took a mental health day finally and would be in today.
My “friend” said I never told him and what went from my first time calling off work in over a decade, a day in advance at that, turned into me doing a No Call, No Show and I got fired.
I don’t like to be that person, but it just seems like this place that is diverse and inclusive has multiple violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. I expect this stuff from the narcissistic, ego maniacs that run their own BS sports bar “tavern” but not a “professional” place like this.

So my employer and I were discussing about work machines for all programmers in the company. He asked for a bit of input regarding the CPU choice. I told him that Ryzen would probably be better as we don't just do one workload that usually compiles for hours on end (minutes mostly). He figured Intel would always be a better choice for a programmer.
The average use case of an employee is running one major application (both c# and typescript) whilst simultaneously running Visual Studio, Code, databases, browser and multiple docker images.
He stated that an Intel i7 would be the bare minimum but he'd prefer i9. I disagreed saying that aside from Ryzen 5 as minimum and at best Ryzen 7 that even Intel i5 and i7 would be more logical. Most of our work would benefit more from a minimum of 32 GB RAM with preferably 64 for leeway and future proofing, than from an expensive CPU.
So we couldn't really agree on this so I figured I'd get some opinions here.

A PGA Tour Inc. executive unlawfully pushed broadcasters to turn their backs on potential LIV Golf streaming deals, the Saudi-backed upstart claimed in its ongoing antitrust fight with the US legacy tour.

LIV now claims that Thierry Pascal, senior vice president of international media for the PGA Tour International, coaxed broadcasters to snub the upstart.
“Based on Tour documents and other sources, LIV believes Mr. Pascal used illegal means to dissuade numerous broadcasters in international markets from signing broadcast contracts with LIV and even from reporting about LIV events in their news content,” LIV’s lawyers said Thursday in a court filing.
A PGA Tour spokesperson declined to comment on the claim.
LIV is trying to find broadcast partners for its tournaments and potentially gain revenue and more eyeballs. Most of the major US sports broadcasters — CBS, NBC and ESPN — have long-term contracts with the PGA Tour. It’s unlikely they would air a rival league and jeopardize that relationship. LIV also struck out with Amazon last year, Bloomberg News reported.
In January, LIV said it reached a multiyear agreement with Nexstar Media Group Inc.’s CW Network, after streaming tournaments and content on YouTube and its own website last year.
“The domestic contract it finally signed for 2023 is with a secondary network, with LIV being its first sporting event,” the tour’s lawyers said, adding that the PGA Tour “has touted LIV’s ratings to imply its product doesn’t have an engaged audience.”
A US magistrate judge on Thursday ruled that Pascal must give a deposition in London no later than April 14 after talks broke down between LIV and the PGA Tour over his testimony, initially scheduled for March 27.
Pascal made his pitches to broadcasters not to work with LIV in phone calls and in-person meetings, leaving few traces of his misconduct, LIV’s attorneys said in the filing.
“Time and again, after the live meeting or phone call, the broadcaster did an about face and informed LIV the negotiations (in one case, a signed contract) could not proceed,” LIV’s attorneys said.
LIV sued the PGA Tour last year for allegedly engaging in monopolistic behavior by using restrictive contracts intended to deprive the upstart of top golfers. About 6 years ago, I and 2 friends of mine decided to get a reading from an advertised Psychic Medium in the city I lived in. a quick rundown of my situation right now,
I am a 12th grade student (just gave boards) and I am planning to take a drop year to prepare for jee 2024. I could not really give jee this year because of lot of personal issues. i did start my prep in 2021 right after 10th grade and for some time in 11th my prep was going good. but then the coaching that i was going to really messed up with our batch. things like not teaching at a good enough level, unplanned and improper classes, teachers constantly changing, there was even a point at which our maths teacher was teaching us physics, and the only good teacher who was our chem teacher also left the institute due to personal reasons i suppose . because of all this the environment of our class was completely destroyed a lot of kids just gave up on their aspiration from the hopelessness ig . in hindsight i should have left my coaching at the end of 11th standard but for some stupid reason i didnt, and now because of that i have to take a drop year. around the end of october 2022 i decided that i would stop going my coaching and prepare on my own,but i guess it was a bit too late by then and a lot of personal issues also popped up.
my physics and chem from 11th are pretty solid for the most part. i have a good grasp over the basics like NLM, WPE, Rotational motion, thermal physics, occilations and waves for physics and structure of atoms, periodic table, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, block chemistry and GOC for chem.
cant say the same for maths tho, my 11th maths is on the weaker side compared to my phy and chem. there are chapters like complex number, half of the chapter of conic section, probability, that i have never touched to begin with.
for 12th its all over the place. maths is decent, half of physics is good, and chemistry is bad.

This makes it a unique city for Archer and United to build out.”

“This is definitely the transportation of the future … it’s safe, sustainable, affordable, quiet,” Bryan Benhard, Archer’s chief growth and infrastructure officer, said. “It’s an aircraft that people will take instead of driving an hour to an hour [and a] half from downtown to [O’Hare] in 10 minutes at the cost of an Uber.”

Archer’s release says people will be able to order trips through a mobile app for around $100-$150.

The service is scheduled to launch in 2025. At the same time, a massive construction project on Chicago’s main expressway that connects the city’s downtown area to ORD is expected to create traffic nightmares.
“This exciting new technology will further decarbonize our means of transportation, taking us another step forward in our fight against climate change,” Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said. “I’m pleased that Chicago residents will be among the first in the nation to experience this innovative, convenient form of travel.”

Chicago won’t be Archer’s only stop. The e-taxi innovator hopes to expand the program to other major metro areas like New York City and Los Angeles.

Ok, so I'm basically the maid in my house. I go to school online and my gf works, so I've taken it upon myself to do literally everything except for what my gf helps out with. I even cook for my roommates & us so they can save money.
My roommates contribute nothing. They both sit on MY couch and watch movies - and watch me clean and cook. And what do they do after they've eaten a meal that took me an hour to make? Put their dishes in the sink for me to clean.
This has been the norm for 3 months now and I'm sick of being these stoners' little maid. I give SO MUCH and would just like a little something in return, as honestly, that's all I can expect from these 2.

I'm honestly going to provide some genuine and insightful counterarguments to the people that keep saying and criticizing that the Dead Space Remake is "woke" because it's honestly frustrating.
Let's lay the groundwork first. This will only discuss the minute details of the game that people claim that are woke. There is mostly no relation to gameplay or any mechanic within this post.
So, what's the dead space setting, context, and universe all about? Because it's important when and where the setting is all about when it comes to this topic
Well, Dead Space is set in the 25th century, an advanced, futuristic, but still industrialized setting. The Earth's resources have dwindled, the population is rising, and colonies are being built in order to sustain more life. The main hope for gathering resources for the humans is planet cracking, which is the process of cracking an entire planet to mine for its resources. The CEC (Concordance Extraction Corporation) is is a public trading company at the forefront of the deep space mining industry. They are the largest solar mining and extraction company in the Earth colonies and the fifth largest company in terms of market capital. (Dead Space Wiki). So what does this all mean within the context of a game set in the 25th century?

So let's start with the arguments:

1. The All Gender Bathroom.

It makes sense within the context and universe of the game that a space ship with such limited space within it will have such a bathroom to accommodate everyone that's working within it. Plus, the CEC, the corrupt corporation that owns the Ishimura would have done this anyway to cut costs and show to the public that they are an all inclusive corporation willing to hire anyone, no matter the gender.
Furthermore, in real life, all gender or unisex bathrooms exist within military ships, restaurants, homes, apartments, and obviously public spaces.
Furthermore, the movies Alien and Aliens (which contributed as inspirations to Dead Space) as well as Starship Troopers, have all gender or unisex bathrooms within their respective universes. Keep in mind that these movies were released during the 80s and 90s, which already proves that these bathrooms are normal.

1. The Race swapped posters.

First of all, I can understand the argument that it is kind of a lazy reskin of the older posters, but that's only a nitpick for some.
However, the posters still do make sense within the context and universe of the game. It proves that the corrupt CEC is willing to make these kinds of advertisements and propaganda to show that once again, they are an inclusive corporation that is willing to hire anyone despite their race. It's a mirror to what real life corporations do. Advertising that their work force is a diverse group of people to pander, attract and tokenise other races into working for them. Yes, they could have easily just made Johnston the same way he was in the original, but honestly, who cares about a guy that barely has any character and dies within the first 10-15 minutes of the game. No, Nicole and Kendra weren't uglified, they were only modeled after their real life models, that's why they look like that.
Furthermore, Nicole is a SENIOR medical officer, an already taxing Job known to everyone and added with the fact that she is in a stressed situation that honestly drains her. She doesn't have time for makeup.
Kendra isn't flat, her jacket was just covering her breasts. Look at a model without her jacket and tell me she's still flat.
Also, it's off that people criticize Nicole in the remake looking much older, but fail to notice Nicole in Dead Space 2, which looks older as well.
Any criticism about them being ugly is honestly disingenuous and completely subjective on the person looking at them.

Well, you see, this isn't a remaster of the original 2008 game, it's a remake. It's not just a fresh coat of graphics.
This Remake has more than that. New side quests, dialogue, and improved gameplay and mechanics. The game still stays true to the original while adding or changing some different things.
The developers have the choice of not changing anything from the original, even the minor things like the bathrooms and posters. It's up to them, not us, to add or change some things.
The same with the Resident Evil 2 Remake. The developers added and changed aspects within the game in order to fit a much more modern and contemporary gameplay for the audience.
Furthermore, as I keep saying, the changes made still fit the context of the game.
So that's basically all the common arguments I keep finding from the internet. I hope that I at least laid out an acceptable counterargument for all of you that keep claiming this game is woke.

Hi, I live in Denmark and the law on dumpster diving is the same as in the US (Not illegal as long as it's in a public place, you don't make a mess, you don't damage property and the dumpster isn't locked)
There are these dumps that are publicly open and owned by the state. People throw out a lot of good e-waste and I take it, fix it and use it for myself. This has been a godsend since I'm poor and cannot afford most of these commodities and helped me raise my living standard for me and many other people.
Recently my friend who's been doing the same has gotten a warning from the police about it. I stopped going there but I think it's a huge shame, since there's genuinely good things in there and I don't see how it's effecting anyone's bottom line since everything there is mostly contaminated or improperly sorted and so it'll end up burned.
I don't think I'm trespassing, I'm going there within opening hours, I'm fully registered even tho I don't have to be, I often bring stuff myself and taking other stuff like bricks and compost is totally fine and everyone does it so why warn someone for taking a broken vacuum cleaner or an old tv? To be fair I've done it for a few months now and I've never had any trouble but it's kinda scary now so I'll stop.

My wife and I recently un-enrolled our child from infant care at Browncroft daycare on Atlantic based on our initial visit.
The two red flags that caused us to pull the plug were infants being fed solids while laying in bouncers and infants being left virtually unattended to sleep in bouncers.
Both those actions are considered dangerous by the AAP (Academy of Pediatrics). The first being a chocking hazard and the second being a risk for SIDS.
While I understand child care workers are underpaid and overworked if they were willing to be so lax on safety protocols In front of us I can only imagine what they’d do when no parents are present.
Browncroft came highly recommended and has been open for 50+ years. This could have just been an off day but that is still no excuse for unsafe practices by a facility charging nearly $400/week to care for your kid.
