2023.03.25 03:01 Sesti-nator CONGLATURATIONS #1 SEEDS! (AKA ALABAMA, KANSAS, PURDUE AND HOUSTON)
Holy. Sh#t. Chaos has infected the Tourney. For the first time in the history of the NCAA tournament, all #1 seeds failed to make it past the Sweet Sixteen. Embrace it everyone, this tourney is on all the drugs that makes Cocaine Bear look like a f#cking Paddington Bear. As for the #1 seeded teams teams? They are all sus! Not on one of them, ALL OF THEM! I’m gonna break it down one by one cuz this is gonna be a doozy. Is it gonna break my English grammar skills? …f#ck…
Kansas - I’m not gonna rant hard on Kansas, they were in a rough circumstance at the worst timing. Bill Self still hasn’t recovered (get well soon btw) and looked like an army of super soldiers without their general. Norm Roberts did a solid job as an acting coach but the team entered the tournament at the worst possible time. Let’s not forget that they were also the defending champions so there’s a bigger target on their backs. Once they faced Arkansas in the second round the team just couldn’t overcome the Hogs. All that really matters is for Bill Self to recover.
Purdue - Here’s a memo for everyone to remember when you fill out your brackets in the future: NEVER PICK PURDUE AS YOUR FINAL FOUR!!! How the f#ck did they got outplayed by the shortest team in the tournament at FDU in the first round… when said FDU team didn’t win their conference tournament only for the actual winner to be ineligible for D-1 transition. Their legacy of failure has become eternal. At least it looked competitive comparing to Virginia’s embarrassment 5 years ago.
Houston - I thought this team was gonna be the #1 overall seed. You can claim their conference was weaker comparing to the SEC but Houston’s flaws showed but in the first round… the FIRST ROUND! They got lucky but the moment they faced Miami in the Sweet 16 it was over. Houston on the surface looked like a #1 seed but they played like an NIT team all tournament long. The City of Houston may have got a break after the Astros winning the World Series but remember that the mistress is a cruel, sadistic b#tch.
Alabama - “Wrong place at the wrong time”. This is what the Alabama program is gonna deal with this crap for a very long time. When a coach sweeps a murder case under the rug, this screams red flag. They were the best team in the country for the majority of the season but it’s stained by Miller’s murder case thus leaving a black eye in their athletic program AND the coach himself. Speaking of Miller, he was #ss all tournament long. 8-41 on the field, 3-19 from 3. San Diego State may not be a walk in the park, but they looked beatable. Once Bama got cocky, San Diego State deflated them. Bama were in the wrong place at the wrong time to be eliminated by a Mountain west conference team.
Embrace chaos, that’s all I got to say. This Elite Eight round is gonna get very, very interesting. As for you 4? Go back to your campuses in shame!

2023.03.24 23:01 damamuerte New title sequence observations
I just went frame by frame on the new title sequence and here are some interesting things I noticed (I tried taking screenshots but Amazon Prime won't let me):
- shot changes from square ratio (90s era) image of young Van to a wide ratio (modern era) clip of a redheaded woman we've never seen before - confirmation that Van is alive in modern era!?!
- 90s era clip of a young man/older boy with curly dark hair wearing a face mask, with another person walking behind him - confirmation that Javi is/was alive at some point after Doomcoming, and possibly has made some new friends?!?
- 90s era queen of hearts with blacked out eyes, and a little later, a queen of diamonds with no defacement that someone is burning with a lighter
- modern era image of a man wearing a suit standing in the woods with his blacked out like the queen card - not sure what it means but creepy AF
- modern era image of a man (I think Jeff) wearing a flesh colored face mask, maybe for a facial? - possible allusion to someone in 90s era wearing a literal face mask?
- 90s era (?) clip of a man in side profile smoking a cigar, possibly wearing a feather boa?
What other things have y'all noticed? Anyone able to upload screenshots?
EDIT: There's also a clip of 90s era Coach Ben laying on what looks like a sickbed - perhaps he is the second natural(?) death that occurs, providing another infusion of calories for the starving survivors (based on assumption that the cannibal taboo will be breached with the consumption of Jackie's corpse)

2023.03.24 21:31 CD7SED NASCAR Weekly News Round Up
• McDonald’s announces founding partnership with NASCAR for Chicago Street Race
• Goodyear and each OEM test tire falloff at North Wilkesboro ahead of All-Star Weekend. Austin Dillon and Carson Hocevar went for Chevrolet, Zane Smith and Chris Buescher went for Ford, and Corey Heim and Tyler Reddick went for Toyota
• NASCAR suspends full-time NASCAR Xfinity driver Josh Williams from his seat with DGM Racing’s No. 92 for the race at COTA for his actions at Atlanta. Team announces Canadian Alex Labbé as his replacement.
• NASCAR decides to keep 2022 restart zone after experimenting with longer restart zone for first 5 races.
• Haas F1 Team’s team principal Guenther Steiner will be guest analyst alongside recently sidelined Cup champions Kurt Busch and Chase Elliott in the FOX Sports booth at COTA. Elliott will reportedly be zooming into the broadcast booth for Stage 2.
• Hendrick Motorsports’ appeal for the team-wide penalty from Phoenix for the louver modifications is set for March 29. Denny Hamlin’s appeal for his behavioral penalty is April 6. Kaulig Racing’s appeal for their louver modification on the No. 31 will most likely be first week of April. Hendrick will continue to use their interim crew chiefs instead of deferring, while Kaulig elected to continue their deferral to keep crew chief Trent Owens.
• Despite the announcement of Chevrolet discontinuing manufacturing of the Camaro after January 2024, they would still be allowed to continue using the Camaro in NASCAR competition as the vehicle was a production vehicle at the time of original submission.
• Alpha Prime Racing elects to move full-time driver Jeffrey Earnhardt into the No. 45 car that is higher in owner’s points than his No. 44 for COTA, which will now be piloted by IndyCar driver Sage Karam. Jeffrey will not bring along his No. 44 crew, with the team electing to see how he operates with the No. 45 crew.
• Blaine Perkins parts ways with SS-Green Light Racing mid-week. Carson Hocevar announced to drive the No. 07 car at COTA. The team’s other apparent full-time driver, Gray Gaulding, will also not drive at COTA. Cup driver Aric Almirola will drive the No. 08 Ford Mustang with backing from Stewart-Haas Racing and Rush Truck Centers. (Side note, really weird to me how a Chevy development driver in Hocevar and a Ford Cup driver in Almirola are teammates).
. The line-up for the 3rd annual Texas Grand Prix looks to be stacked, with two Formula 1 Champions, a 7x NASCAR Cup Champion, a 2x IMSA Sports Car champion, and multiple 24 Hours of Daytona winners running alongside the many other NASCAR Cup drivers. Within these descriptions: 1. 2007 F1 Champion Kimi Räikkönen makes his second start with Trackhouse Racing’s PROJECT91 program with backing from Onyx Homes after first running with the team last year at Watkins Glen. 2. 2009 F1 Champion Jenson Button is also running at COTA. His longtime sponsor Mobil 1 got him connected with Stewart-Haas Racing, which will field him in a technical alliance with Rick Ware Racing in the No. 15 Ford Mustang. Jenson will also be running two others Road course races for RWR alongside running for NASCAR, Chevrolet, and Hendrick Motorsports in their Garage 56 entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. (With Jimmie Johnson’s starts this season and Mike Rockenfeller’s two starts for Spire Motorsports last year, all three Garage 56 drivers and their driver coach Jordan Taylor will have race experience in the Next Gen car). 3. Jimmie Johnson will make his second of multiple 2023 starts for Legacy Motor Club in the No. 84, this time with backing from Wyndham. 4. Jordan Taylor is the replacement driver for Chase Elliott in the Hendrick Motorsports No. 9 UniFirst Camaro. Jordan comes from a background in sports car racing that includes 2 IMSA championships and the win at the 2017 24 Hours of Daytona, which led him to be named the driver coach for Hendrick Motorsports’ Garage 56 Le Mans entry. Josh Berry will continue his fill-in duties next weekend. 5. Current full-time IndyCar driver for Ed Carpenter Racing, Conor Daly, makes his second start of 2023 for Floyd Mayweather’s No. 50 The Money Team Racing Bitnile Camaro after managing to make the Daytona 500 over Chandler Smith and Austin Hill in February.
• Derek Kraus will run multiple Xfinity races in Kaulig Racing’s No. 10 starting next week at Richmond.
• Former IndyCar driver Ed Jones will run the COTA Truck race in the Young’s Motorsports No. 20 with backing from Little Caesar’s Pizza.
• Alex Bowman will join Kyle Busch (No. 51 KBM) and Ross Chastain (No. 41 Niece) in the Truck race at COTA in the No. 7 for Spire Motorsports with HendrickCars.com backing. He will also run at North Wilkesboro.
• Ty Gibbs joins A.J. Allmendinger (Kaulig No. 10), Aric Almirola (No. 08 SS-Green Light) and William Byron (Hendrick No. 17) in making his first Xfinity start of the season in the No. 19 for Joe Gibbs Racing.
• Christopher Bell will run a second Hattori Racing Enterprises Toyota Tundra, the No. 61, at North Wilkesboro.
• With permission from Richard Childress Racing, Kevin Harvick, Stewart-Haas Racing, and sponsor Busch Light will run the original No. 29 paint scheme at North Wilkesboro. Harvick will also run the CARS tour race in his No. 62 late model.
• Kaz Grala makes his second Truck start in the TRICON No. 1 Toyota Tundra at COTA after a 17th place finish at Las Vegas. TRICON Garage also finally has their fourth full-time truck driver Taylor Gray eligible to run after turning 18. The team had Sammy Smith and John Hunter Nemechek fill in for Taylor in the No. 17 until he was of age.
• Alongside the two F1 champions, another international champion, Brazilian driver Miguel Paludo will run at COTA. Miguel will again be running the No. 88 for JR Motorsports for three Xfinity road course races in 2023, similar to previous years.
. Denny Hamlin will finally make his first Cup start with Interstate Batteries as the primary sponsor after 18 years of being with Joe Gibbs Racing, a team that has had Interstate Batteries as a sponsor dating back to 1993 when they won the Daytona 500 with Interstate and driver Dale Jarrett.
• This weekend will mark the first time since the 2016 Homestead-Miami weekend without mandatory caution flags at stage breaks. For context, back then: 1. Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle, and Jeff Gordon were all still active. 2. Chase Elliott was a rookie. 3. Ty Gibbs was in middle school. 4. Harrison Burton was just recently eligible for a driver’s license. 5. Jimmie Johnson had just become the third 7x champion. 6. Ideas such as a street race in Chicago, a dirt race at Bristol, six road races on the schedule, 19 winners in a season, Michael McDowell winning the Daytona 500, the Busch Clash being held on a quarter Mile track inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the NASCAR All-Star Race having Bristol, Texas, and North Wilkesboro as venues, and successful, race-winning start up teams co-owned by Pitbull and Michael Jordan were all pipe dreams. All of that change and Matt Crafton still drives the No. 88 Menards truck for ThorSport. Some things never change.

2023.03.24 09:36 AppleBarf SPOILERS Scene by scene write up of the forest plot line + theories
Obviously this goes without saying this is literally 100% spoilers so don’t read if you haven’t seen it yet. Also forgive me for any spelling/grammaformatting it’s like 4am here
Shauna heavily pregnant
Lottie makes tea in the morning, with maybe Misty’s herbs?
Nat and Travis bring lots of paper materials on expedition, maybe for insulation as well as mapping? Travis grabs porno mags
Lottie puts ash on their hands, sages them, and gives them the tea with her blood in it
Nat not a believer and “drinks”, Lottie notices and looks at her funny
Travis drinks no hesitation and thanks Lottie
Plane was 600+ miles north off course
Girls arrived in Seattle in 1998
Shauna is not pregnant anymore obviously
Misty looks ecstatic to get attention
Lottie looks and acts like lights on but nobody’s home but screams when getting on plane
During electroshock therapy Lottie is in the tunnels while having a seizure, candle flames shrink
Lottie helps roommate and says “they can make you better, the same way they helped me” but I personally don’t think she’s talking about shock therapy
[intro]
“Jackie” and Shauna chillin in meat storage room
“Jackies” notebook has the following:
https://i.imgur.com/Xvj5i8g.jpg Husband: Jeff, coach Scott, Travis, nick
Car: Mercedes, jeep, Porsche, Miata
Job: SNL, artist, politician, mom
Live in: Hawaii, San Fran, New Jersey, Chicago
Money: 1 million, 1 billion, 2c, 10000
Last column (pet): dog, cat, (didn’t see last 2)
“Jackie” still has heart necklace
Meat hook next to her head
Tai and Van play finger football and vans scars have healed and are very visible
Van has mark on wrist where she ties Tai up
Tai insists to be locked up alone, van insists otherwise
Openly flirting, Tai shushes her about bondage comment
Misty tells Mari to add herbs and Mari gets defensive, asks where Shauna is with “the meat”
Lottie tells her to leave it alone and Ben says she’s still grieving, Akilah calls her Norman bates
Gen makes comment about gods of the dirt
Crystal hums and pisses everyone off, Gen is mean to her
“Jackie” says she’s still there because Shauna wants to talk about the past, calls it “haunting 101”
Shauna says what do you want to know but “Jackie” already knows what she’s thinking
Shauna explains how she first got with Jeff
“Jackie” “broke up” with Jeff because he wanted to fuck and she didn’t
Shauna says she didn’t know this but “Jackie” says she did
“Jackie” reveals Shauna kissed Jeff not other way around
“Jackie” demands she say why, Shauna knocks her over and she turns into a mannequin
Shauna lifts most of her back up, pockets ear and convo ends
Shauna brings 11 rations in, says she had to cut back portions again because there’s not much left (of what? Or who??)
Nat and Travis explore, find fox that looks like Javi with half his face eaten
Travis freaks out and is still in denial about Javi Nat marks fox tree and they head back
Shauna lookin at Jackie’s ear like it’s dinner
Misty stirs soup and gets yelled at for not following “the rules”
Misty complains that getting the water is cold and she does it every day but does it anyway
Tai looks at shaunas baby bump and asks if she’s ok, Shauna says yeah and tai looks at bump again and walks away
Crystal sings and dances and Misty tells her to stfu
Crystal makes bad poop joke is very annoying
She tells Misty she can sing and offers to harmonize with her, Misty turns and smiles at her
Nat gets back and hands Ben grade 12 civics paper with map on back
They pin it onto a board with other maps
Nat and Travis have explored ~7 miles in each direction, no game or Javi
Plane is near edge of map so ~7mi away
Nat and Ben agree Javi is almost certainly dead
Nat and Travis sit by fire, Nat tried to kiss him but he pulls away
Travis has panic attack and Lottie makes him breathe
Travis has visions of stumps
First vision is (ritual or defrosted most likely) stump (from the side)
Second vision is stump (from the front)
Third vision is same stump (from front with candles)
Candle layout looks similar to candles in lotties dream tunnel
Travis gets boner but nat isn’t near him so she might not have seen it
Lottie tells him Javi is alive because she can feel it
Nat gives him drink and berates Lottie for giving him false hope
Lottie says she says no hope is false because she felt it, nat tells her to say “a lot fucking less”
Tai and van are sleeping when “sleep tai” gets horny and starts kissing vans scars and lips
Sleep tai gets a little too hungry and bites vans lip, making her bleed
Van says she’s tough and not scared of tai, and she’ll never be scared
Van draws “I ❤️ U” on tais arm in her blood, tai says she loves her too
They flirt and make out
Shauna contemplates munching Jackie’s ear
Nat and Travis find defrosted stump
Shauna takes crunchy bite of Jackie’s ear
Theories: I can’t remember who posted it but I think Shauna will slowly eat jackie and maybe that’s why she has so much survivors guild and is still “haunted” by jackie. Jackie also doesn’t look like she’s been butchered so I assume the meat they’re eating is probably the left overs from the bear or maybe other game they’ve hunted in the last 2 months.
Jackie said she broke up with jeff because he wanted to fuck and she didn’t, and then in the art studio Jeff got pretty aggressive with Shauna. Not really a theory but idk.
There’s antique bear trap style traps on the walls of the cabin so maybe they’ll set those up sometime?
There have been at least 3 scenes so far with people getting their faces mutilated; van in season 1, the painting in adams art studio, and Javi in the snow. If I had a nickel for every time it’s happened, it’d be 3 nickels. It’s not a lot but it’s odd it’s happened 3 times.

2023.03.24 07:42 Rude_Evening_1051 ** Spoiler Free review** Currently watching and paused to say that Jeff is the perfect comic relief character 😭 Love that man 🚗🕺🏽
The first episode has solidified my love for Jeff that started last season with "There's no book club?" He's so pure and innocent in some ways that it's honestly endearing. I love the dynamic between Melanie & Warren on screen, and now that a lot of the secret tension is subsided between Jeff & Shauna (so you think), there’s a lot more honest dialogue from them that is so powerful in detailing their characters. (Melanie is kicking ass btw! TLOU and Yellowjackets both.) Also, the heart-wrenching detail the writers, film team, and Sophie put into young Shauna's grieving of Jackie's passing was amazing (I know that Jasmin Savoy Brown teased at this saying “Sophie Nélisse will be nominated for an Emmy this year”, and she was SPOT ON!!) I wanted to look away, but the reality of her situation was displayed in such a morbidly raw and honest way. It was so chilling! They have perfected the use of intimate close-ups and tragically heartfelt moments to show 10x more than they speak directly. This translates into Misty's plotline so well, too. I empathize with the pain she has experienced more and more as we get a better look into her need for acceptance and friendship. She's a badass citizen detective too. Both Christina and Samantha really do an astounding job articulating adult Misty into a fully dimensional character. I'm never disappointed. It’s entrancing how well Christina pulls you into Misty’s escapades like you’re blurting someone’s private info as blackmail right alongside her.
Of course, Natalie (Juliette and Sophie) is my favorite. Both actresses give Natalie's character such a down-to-earth, level-headed, and take-no-shit quality that's absolutely magnetic. I really love the young Natalie-Coach Ben and adult Natalie-Misty dynamics most. Both of them give so much insight into Natalie as a whole. I love that she spits fire by nature but knows when and where to do it, even when kidnapped haha. Juliette adds such a witty and toughened side to Natalie that just increases the badass-ity. Taissa's still a bit of a mystery for me. I can't navigate her present-day motives, but I just know that there's something fishy she has planned (still RIP Biscuit 🙏🏻). It's strange to see her be so manipulative and apathetic, but I think it just emphasizes the side of her that we got a peek at during the news briefing scene last season when she announced that she was staying in the race. Very impressive character building all around!
And the new cast members feel like a part of the puzzle that was always there, just yet to be seen. It's rare when new cast members can be introduced for an established character and hit the ground running from the very start, but Yellowjackets has perfected it. I think that jumping around Lottie's background a little to start things off baited the hook so well. Darn you! The first episode has solidified a lot of these things and so much more. The wait was more than worth it ❤️.

2023.03.23 22:21 alex9834 Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball: A Legacy of Failure (REMAKE)
Never thought I would revisit you so soon, eh Purdue? You pathetic underachievers continue to give me excuses to mock you every March. Every time when it seems like you're about to end your agonizingly long Final Four drought, you punch your fans in the dick repeatedly by choking during the second weekend, or shitting your pants against a double digit seed in the first. It's like watching the Endless Eight episode saga of Haruhi Suzumiya...on repeat for DECADES.
Don't believe me? Take a look at this long laundry list of failure...
1969 NCAA Final Four - Thanks to head coach George King, and an all star roster led by Rick Mount, Herm Gilliam, and Bill Keller, you made the National Championship game your first year in the NCAA tournament. Though this may be a sign that you've peaked too early, as well as this being a sign that you're about to get destroyed, it's still admirable. Maybe you can shock the world...
1969 National Championship Game - Unfortunately, reality sets in and you get an H-bomb dropped on you by UCLA. Better luck next year I guess...
1970 - Or...just completely fall apart and miss the tournament.
1971 - Though you post another winning season, it's not good enough to get you into the tournament. Here's an NIT bid as a consolation prize.
1972 - Settle back into mediocrity with a .500 record as George King decides to fuck off and never return!
1973 - Your new head coach is Fred Schaus. You are still incredibly mediocre.
1974 - Holy cow, a 21-win season! Unfortunately, you don't come close to making the big dance. Have this NIT title as a consolation.
mid-1970s - And you are once again mediocre. Why am I not surprised.
1977 - Ah, you finally returned to the big dance once again. But then you lose a nailbiter to North Carolina.
1978 - And you once again fall back into mediocrity. Don't worry, the tournament will eventually expand and you'll be able to appear more frequently. Just give it a few more years.
1980 - Alright, you're finally a reasonable contender again with a 23-10 record. And that was thanks to head coach Lee Rose, as well as new star recruits like Joe Barry Carroll, Kevin Stallings, Keith Edmonson, Roosevelt Barnes, and Arnette Hallman. You're the 6th seed in the Mideast region, so go make some noise.
1980 NCAA Tournament - Now we're talking! After taking out huge foes like your in-state rival Indiana in the Sweet 16, and Duke in the Elite Eight, you return to the Final Four yet again. This may be the best shot you have so don't mess this up. Bring that National Championship trophy back home to Lafayette!
1980 NCAA Final Four - Unfortunately, they are then death starred by the UCLA empire. And not just ANY UCLA team - this was Larry Brown's UCLA team. You know, the one that committed 9 NCAA rules violations and were forced to vacate their appearance in the tournament. Fucking pathetic. I don't care if you won a 3rd place game, you're still dead to me. Well, hopefully this won't be your last Final Four appearance for a while...
1980 offseason - You make an excellent hire in Gene Keady as your head coach! Hopefully you can win a national title for him.
1983 - Coach Keady leads you back to the tournament once again, but unfortunately you get run over by Arkansas in the second round.
1984 - Lose in the second round again. This time to fucking Memphis.
1985 - Get ousted as the #6 seed in the big dance to fucking Auburn.
1986 - Lose as the #6 seed YET AGAIN in the first round. To fucking 11th-seeded LSU in double overtime.
1986 NCAA Final Four - That LSU team goes on to become the first double digit seed to make the Final Four. You get a trophy of herpes.
1987 - You're the #3 seed in the East region and you put up 104 points against Northeastern of all teams. Only to get blown the fuck out by Florida. Ya know, I'd like to see some actual deep runs for once...
1988 - Now we're talking! You're finally a national title contender again! You won the Big Ten with a 27-3 regular season record and you're the #2 team in the country! You're the #1 seed in the Midwest region, so go big or go home!
1988 NCAA Tournament - Unfortunately your deep run is to the Sweet 16, where you lose by three to Kansas State. The best season since you're 1969 Cinderella year...and you get turned into a laughingstock once again. Fucking hell, this is brutal. Who pays to watch this shit?!
1989 - The Boilers fall apart and miss the tournament once again but who gives a shit anymore?
1990 - Thanks to new stars like Matt Painter, Jimmy Oliver, and Steve Scheffler, you're the goddamn #2 seed in the Midwest region and are a favorite to make the Final Four. This HAS to be the year...you lost to 10th-seeded Texas in the SECOND ROUND?!!
hits wall FUCKING GOD.
1991 - And then you decide to choke against fucking Temple in the first round.
1993 - Lose in the first round again. This time to goddamn Rhode Island.
1994 - You're finally a national title contender again with a dominant 26-4 regular season record thanks to new stars like Glenn Robinson and Cuonzo Martin. You won the Big Ten yet again and you're the #1 seed in the Southeast region. You even reach the Elite Eight too and have a good shot to make the Final Four! There appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel...
1994 NCAA Tournament, Elite Eight - Turns out that light was just a mirage and you get your Final Four dreams beaten to oblivion by Duke. Why does this shit always happen to you guys? I know it's the Empire, but fuck!
1995 - Get bested by fucking Memphis again in the second round as the #3 seed in the Midwest region!
1996 - You won the goddamn Big Ten again with a 25-5 regular season record and you're the #1 seed in the West region. Will this finally be the year?
1996 NCAA Tournament - YOU LOSE IN THE SECOND ROUND TO FUCKING GEORGIA? The hell is the matter with you?!
1997 - After getting revenge on Rhode Island in the first round, you get absolutely rekt by a Paul Pierce-led Kansas squad in the next. Eh, it happens to all of us sometimes, shut up and deal with it.
1998 - You're the #2 seed in the Midwest region yet again and you've returned the Sweet 16...only to lose to goddamn Stanford - a team that hadn't made it to the Elite Eight in over 45 years. Pathetic. Get lost.
1998 offseason - And now the NCAA has caught you cheating red-handed. You get put on two years probation for recruiting, ethics and benefits violations. Plus, team assistant Frank Kendrick decided to be a fucking idiot who illegally bribed star player Luther Clay and is fired from the team. Fucking idiots...
1999 - Your probation hasn't kicked in yet! Quick, go make another run to the Big Dance!
1999 NCAA Tournament - Even though you're the #10 seed in the East region due to losing the Big Ten tournament title to Michigan, you manage to pull off a minor string of first and second round upsets against Texas and Miami before being absolutely mauled by Temple again in the Sweet 16. Sucks, but it was a valiant effort. There's always next year...
2000 - You're in the big dance yet again just in time for the new millennium! As the #6 seed in the West region, you make another big run to the Elite Eight after ending Gonzaga’s foolish ambitions! And you're facing a fellow Big Ten foe in Wisconsin. This may be the last shot you have with this current core, so go take down those arrogant Badgers!
2000 NCAA Tournament, Elite Eight - Unfortunately, Wisconsin has the last laugh as they edge you out by 4 points and make their first Final Four in almost 60 years. Woof. At least things can't get any worse...right?
2001-02 - It does. You miss the tournament the next two years in the meantime, as your probation has finally kicked in. Eh, you were garbage, you weren't going to make the Big Dance anyway.
2003 - Probation is finally over and you make the tournament once again. As the #9 seed in the South region, you get revenge on LSU by blowing them the fuck out in the first round. Only a brick wall can stop you: it's name is Texas.
2005 - Gene Keady decides to hang it up after an abysmal 7-21 record. Too bad he couldn't get a ring, he was one helluva great coach.
2005 offseason - We need a new head coach to bring us back to relevance. This Matt Painter guy will do.
2007 - Coach Painter leads you back to the tournament, just so you can get stomped on by defending national champion Florida in the second round.
2008 - Lose in the second round again. We're losing to fucking Xavier now? Goddamn...
2009 - After winning the Big Ten Tournament, the Boilers finish the regular season with a 25-9 record, which is good enough for the #5 seed in West region. You make it all the way to the Sweet 16 before being put down by UConn. Could be worse I guess...
2010 - You win your first Big Ten regular season title in 14 years, and you're the #4 seed in the South region this year and you once again make it to the Sweet 16. But the Evil Empire known as Duke then slaughters you like pork. Old habits die hard, eh?
2011 - You managed to secure the #3 seed in the Southwest region with a 25-7 record, and you're favorites to make the Final Four. Now are you going to do something?
2011 - Nope, you lose to an 11th-seeded VCU team...who then go on to make the Final Four. Deja vu, ain't it?
2012 - Lose to Kansas in the Second Round yet again. Seriously, what is with all these Second Round losses?!
2013-14 - Miss the tournament the next two years in the meantime.
2015 - You're back in the tournament again as the 9th seed in the Midwest region. And you lose painfully to Cincinnati in the first round. In OT.
2016 - Issac Haas begins to come into his own as he leads the Boilers to the #5 seed in the Midwest region with a 26-8 record. But then...oh no...
2016 - You LOST TO FUCKING #12 LITTLE ROCK?!! IN DOUBLE OVERTIME?!! WHAT THE FUCK!! Can you NOT continue to waste talent, Boilers?
2017 - You once again win the Big Ten and grab the #4 seed in the Midwest region. You go back the Sweet 16 before you are put down by fucking Kansas again. The Jayhawks are still getting the best of you after all these years, eh?
2018- This time you're the #2 seed in the East region with a solid 28-6 regular season record. You once AGAIN make it to the Sweet 16, but then you lose to another Big 12 team called Texas Tech - a team that hadn't made it past the Sweet 16 in their existence. Fucking really? Eh, you've got promise though. Next year should be the year...hopefully.
2019 - Well, you managed to win a share of the Big Ten title. And even though you lost early in the Big Ten tournament, you clinched the #3 seed in the South region with a 23-9 record. Now don't disappoint me again.
2019 NCAA Tournament, Sweet 16 - Ugh, you're blowing a 17-point lead to Tennessee in the 2nd half? Just get it over with so I can get the liquor... ... wait...the Boilers...didn't...choke? They're playing in the Elite Eight against Virginia of all teams? My god, someone is shedding their choker label this year!
2019 NCAA Tournament, Elite Eight - Oh my god, you're doing it! You took the lead with less than 4 minutes left to play!
Here's Edwards for the lead...OH HE HIT THE WINDOW! On that glass! Score: 69-67 Purdue, 1 minute remaining
Oh my god, this can't be real...hold me...
Score: 70-68 Purdue, 5 seconds remaining:
Okay, now you need one stop on defense, if he misses this shot you'll make the Final Four...
"Into the hands of Clark...got a chance to win here...up to front, it's Diakete, for the win-IT GOES!!!!! For the tie!! Diakete squares it at 70!!" WHAT?! WHAT?!!! No...no no no no no...don't tell me this is happening again...can you at least stop them in OT?!
"Edwards...bad pass! And it's turned over with 1.8 seconds remaining..." OH MY MERCIFUL GOD!!!
"OH GOD NO!!! PLEASE GOD NO!! NO!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" I have no words. The worst part is that it wasn't entirely their fault either. This is just...painful. Absolutely painful...I don't even want to think about next season at this point...
2020 - And COVID arrives to cancel out everyone's season. Eh you were garbage anyway this year, so it doesn't matter.
2021 - Now you're back as the #4 seed in the South region. Maybe this'll be the year...or they can get upset by North Texas in the first round...a team that hadn't won a tournament game in their history...Excuse me while I drink this bottle of Jack...
2022 - Things are once again looking good for the Boilers. They earn their first #1 ranking in the AP poll in school history, and while they don't keep it, they still manage to secure the 3rd seed in the South region with a 27-7 record, thanks to a new core led by Caleb Furst, Zach Edey, Jaden Ivey, Sasha Stefanovic, and Trevion Williams. You're heavy favorites to make the Final Four once again! But we've heard that line a million times...
2022 NCAA Tournament - Well, things seem to be going alright. The Boilers take out the Ivy League elitist scum from Yale in the opening round, and they get revenge on Texas in the second round with a solid 10-point win. So who are they playing next?
giggles the 15-seeded SAINT PETER'S PEACOCKS?! Come on, they're not going to lose to a MAAC school, this should be a piece of cake!
...right?
2022 NCAA Tournament - Holy shit, they're losing to a MAAC school. But there's still a chance you say?
*"65-61...12 seconds left...Ivey has to hurry. Jumpshot...GOES!! And a 3!! 1-point game with 8 seconds to go!"
Okay, there's still a chance. If you play your cards right you get to return to the Elite Eight. Don't fuck this up...
"67-64, 4 seconds left. Ivy...for the tie-OFF THE RIM AND IT'S OVER!!! This miracle run continues for Saint Peter's!! The Peacocks make history!! The first 15 seed to the Elite Eight in NCAA Tournament lore!" They lost...to a MAAC school. They lost to a MAAC school. A MAAC school.
screams into a pillow: A MAAC SCHOOL?!!! ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! YOU BLEW IT!! 2023 -
sigh Glad I got that out of my system. For this season you add Fletcher Loyer and Braden Smith to your roster! They help you cruise through the regular season and you win both the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships with a 29-5 record! You even secure the top seed in the East region, the first time in decades that you've accomplished such a feat! And you're favorites to win it all and have been picked by virtually everyone to make the Final Four! But we're heard that a million times, haven't we? Now don't fuck this up. You're playing some nobody called Fairleigh Dickinson from the NEC in the opening round. This should be a cakewalk for you.
Literally a cakewalk.
2023 NCAA Tournament, First Round - Uh...what the fuck is going on? Why are you trailing?! What business do you have trailing?! No, seriously. Why are you losing to a 16 SEED?! Whatever, you're down 3 and should have a shot to win this anyway and move on. Get to work.
*"Looking for Edey, of course...knocked away! Great defense by Moore! He gets it back, Moore flies in, AND SCORES!! 5-point game!"
What? WHAT?!!! HOW ARE YOU TAKING THE PISS THIS BADLY?!!!
"..into the corner it goes, Loyer wide open-NAILS IT!!" Score: 58-56 Good, now work your magic and move past this already. This has gone on long enough as is.
"Moore, straight away three...IT'S GOOOOOOOD!!!" Score: 61-56 Oh my fucking god, WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME?!!!!
"Loyer has scored the last 7 points for the Boilermakers. Gets it done at the line with 58 seconds left. Down 3." Score: 61-58 I swear, if you morons blow this thing...
"Loyer puts up a 3...no good! Rebound to Roberts! And he's fouled!!" .................................................I have nothing to say to you. You were favored by 23.5 to win. The biggest upset in terms of point spread in tournament history. Do you realize what you've just done?
This is quite possibly the GREATEST FAILURE IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE SPORTS!!! "...and that will do it! 'buzzer sounds' FDU BELIEVE IT?!! For just the second time ever, A 16 BEATS A 1!!!" YOU BLEW IT!! YOU BLEW IT!!! YOU BLEW IT!!! YOU BLEW IT!!! YOU BLEW IT!!! YOU BLEW IT!!! YOU BLEW IT!!! YOU BLEW IT!!!! YOU BLEW IT!!! (x100) BOOM cue Mortal Kombat music
"MUWHAHAHAHAH!!! THAT WAS PATHETIC!!" CONGLATURATION!! PURDUE'S HOPE IS NO MORE!!! THE LEGACY OF FAILURE IS FINALLY FORGED!!! Is Pecca Rinne still too good right now after 6 years? After falling to the 68th and last ranked team overall in the NCAA tournament in the opening round, the Boilermakers slowly came to grips that total failure in big games was simply a part of their history, for both the team and Purdue sports.
This realization came too late to alter this event, however. This loss is now mocked and scorned by the College Basketball world.
Have a nice day.

2023.03.23 15:40 Darth_Brooks_II Teams of the AAFC: The Los Angeles Dons(OC)
One of the earliest game footage, either college or pro that you can watch (in part) is the
1916 Rose Bowl When the NFL began games were rarely filmed and little film survives. By 1946, the first year of the All American Football Conference, camera technology, and the use of films had advanced a great deal. The league knew that it had to promote itself if it was to survive. Almost from the moment of it's creation the Cleveland Browns organization began filming team operations to promote themselves and the league. They produced
an early version of those NFL Films season highlights at the end of the season.
The 1947 highlight real for the Los Angeles Dons is on Youtube When it says the script was written by Charlie Chaplin, it means THAT Charlie Chaplin. He was a friend of the team owners.
The Los Angles Dons were owned by a media savy group that involved Louis B. Mayer, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Don Ameche as partners to Ben Lindheimer, who had tried to purchase part of the Bears and Cardinals and had failed both times. (Wikipedia says California businessman Fernando Gonzalez III was the main partner but that is incorrect according to what I've found). The head coach had been the head coach of Redskins but jumped league for the Dons. The team took advantage of the improvements in air travel that also allow the Cleveland Rams to move west.
The Dons got off to a decent start, going 3-0-1 and they had a decent 7-5-2 record in their first season. Their biggest issue was playing in the same division as the the two best teams in the league. In their four year history they managed to eek out two wins versus the Cleveland Browns but they never beat the San Francisco 49ers.
They had a middling record for most of their history, never really bad and never really good. If the league had continued they might have been on of the stalwarts of the league. Four losses a season to the two titans was the difference between 7-7 and 11-3 and a solid year.
When the league merged with the NFL teams that shared a location with an already existing NFL team would have their players assigned to that team, so the Dons players who stayed in the NFL ended up on the Rams for the most part.
Had the team continued it can be assumed that they would eventually have had periods of success. The team seemed decently run with a solid financial backing.
These are highlights of a game vs. Buffalo The Dons wore white jerseys with dark pants.
Here they are playing against an early version of an electronic football game Like the Browns (and a lot of AAFC teams), the Don's featured a cartoon character for team advertisements. The
cover of their home programs featured a more realistic depiction of a California Don. I found the wordmark on the cover of a New York Yankees program cover. They also used the imagery of a
tassled hat (I'll admit I don't know the correct name for this type of hat and didn't find the name online) on their tickets and I took inspiration from that for the logo.
The Don's had a uniform that rival the St. Louis Gunners for color The finished uniform Here's the list of the teams that I've done.
You should check out the Miami Seahawks page. I suspect it was buried by free agent news and I thought it was one of the best (at the very least, the most work intensive) logo / uniform design that I've done.
AAFC NFL AAFC Requested These were done in Photoshop and Flexisign. The template is one I made.

2023.03.23 00:53 ekimtk Two Things Can Be True for Paint
I am one of the people here that is infuriated with Painter and our recent tournament woes. I think it is necessary to make this post though to acknowledge both sides. Especially given the current climate of posts and comments on this subreddit, that I am equally guilty of.
Two things can be true:
1) Painter is the worst NCAA tournament coach of all time. He has surpassed Rick Barnes in terms of tournament chokes. I think it's hard to argue against that. Despite the talent that Barnes had at Texas during his run there, he still has a final 4 and many deep runs. It is soul crushing to watch him game manage under the spotlight. He can't do it. He needs to hire an assistant that can game manage for him while he does player development and recruiting.
2) Firing Painter is not the answer. We dominate the regular season, win early season tournaments, get top 5 rankings in the AP poll, and consistently get high seeds in the tournament. There is not someone out there that we can hire that will elevate the program further than where Painter currently has it. Few is not leaving Gonzaga. Stop saying he will. He loves the WCC and is a hero in Spokane. He will not leave. Jay Wright loves TV, and he is fucking phenomenal at it. He had a great thing going at Villanova. He didn't leave 'Nova to go into TV for a year and then come to bum fuck Indiana. I went to Purdue and I mean that respectfully. There is nothing going on compared to Philly and the city life that is around in. Brad Stevens is not leaving the Celtics. Stop. That's it. Not worth discussing further. Hiring a mid major 'hot commodity' right now is a high risk proposition. We could turn into Archie Miller's IU for 5 years and then try to rebuild with someone like Woodson.
Both sides of the argument have a leg to stand on. Just know, Paint will be on the bench next year. Hopefully after spending many sleepless nights staring at himself in the mirror and trying to reinvent the program in a manner that will have post season success.

2023.03.22 18:46 hurlmaggard Juicy tidbits from ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 2 Remains Wild At Heart And Weird On Top [Review]
https://theplaylist.net/yellowjackets-s2-remains-wild-at-heart-and-weird-on-top-review-20230316/ my absolute favorite:
"As the women gradually all make their way to her compound, Lottie's visions begin to return, causing her to question whether she ever had a mental illness – or if it was always just the darkness manifesting through her. " "As an adult, Van’s a woman trying desperately to capture the past that was taken from her by trauma as she barely treads water emotionally and financially."
"Through a peek deeper into teen Misty’s time on the mountain with Crystal, we get a better idea of why she has no close friends or lovers, making this connection with Walter all the more bittersweet."
"In the present, Shauna and Jeff continue to patch up their marriage, which has at least been recharged sexually by their various illegal activities. "
"Coach Ben begins fantasizing about what his life could have been if he’d chosen to live out and proud with his boyfriend, rather than in the closet as an assistant soccer coach. His reality and his fantasy blur, reminding us that almost everything we’ve seen from anyone’s point of view should be taken with a grain of salt. "
"Throughout the season, events are shown as if they’re presented as facts, only to be later revealed as fever dreams, visions, or worse. ‘Yellowjackets’ thus asks its audience to contemplate just how much of what we believe is the truth is just consensus agreement, how much of our memories are mere stories we tell ourselves, and whether there is such a thing as reality at all. Reddit - Dive into anything I hope everyone enjoys this story. I worked on condensing what I wrote the past few weeks and changed some things about the characters - I personally like this story arcs better.
TL;DR of where they go to college at the end.
Chapter 5: RD Results and Final Decisions Matthew It was a typical afternoon at the Green Hills High School library, and Matthew was sitting at one of the tables with his laptop, anxiously refreshing his email. Today was the day he would receive his regular admissions college results. He knew his life was about to change drastically, and he couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and dread as he awaited the news.
One by one, the emails started to come in. Matthew held his breath as he clicked on each of them, revealing the decisions that would shape his future. As he opened each email, he was met with a series of acceptances: Columbia, Princeton, Duke, UPenn, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Stony Brook. He was waitlisted at Harvard and Caltech but rejected at MIT, Stanford, and Yale.
Matthew's heart raced as he read through the acceptance letters, hardly believing the incredible opportunities that were now within his reach. He couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that all his hard work and dedication had paid off.
The email from Columbia caught his eye, and he opened it with particular interest. As he read through the letter, he discovered that not only had he been accepted, but he had also received an excellent financial aid package and had been accepted into Columbia's Undergraduate Scholars Program (CUSP). Matthew's eyes widened in disbelief, realizing that attending his dream school was now a genuine possibility.
As the news began to sink in, Matthew called his parents to share the exciting results. They were ecstatic, congratulating him on his incredible achievements and assuring him that they would support him in whichever decision he made.
Over the next few days, Matthew carefully considered his options, discussing them with his family, teachers, and friends. As he weighed the pros and cons, he found himself drawn to Columbia again and again. Its vibrant urban location, prestigious academic reputation, and the incredible financial aid package made it the perfect fit for him.
With a deep breath, Matthew finally made his decision. He clicked the "accept" button on Columbia's online portal, sealing his commitment to attend the university in the fall. A sense of relief and excitement washed over him, knowing that he was about to embark on a new journey that would shape the rest of his life.
In the following days, Matthew shared the news with his friends at Green Hills High School, who were thrilled for him and eager to hear about his decision. As they celebrated together, Matthew couldn't help but feel grateful for the support and encouragement he had received from his friends and family throughout the entire college application process. And as he looked forward to the future, he knew that he was ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that awaited him at Columbia University.
Priya It was the day that Priya had been anxiously waiting for since she was deferred from Brown Early Decision. As she sat in her bedroom, her hands trembling slightly, she mustered the courage to check her email for the regular admissions decisions. Her heart raced as the notifications started to pour in, each one carrying the potential to change her life forever.
Taking a deep breath, Priya opened the first email, revealing an acceptance from Brown. Her eyes widened in disbelief, a surge of joy and relief washing over her. She continued to read through the other acceptance letters, receiving offers from Cornell, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Emory, UC-Berkeley, UVA, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Stony Brook.
However, the waitlist notifications soon followed. Priya was waitlisted at Harvard, Duke, UChicago, Northwestern, UCLA, NYU, Wash U, and Northeastern. Despite her impressive list of acceptances, the weight of the waitlist decisions stung. She closed the final batch of emails, revealing rejections from Stanford, Yale, Princeton, and U Penn.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Priya took a moment to process the whirlwind of news. She called her parents into her room and shared the results with them. They hugged her tightly, expressing their pride and assuring her that they would support any decision she made.
As the days passed, Priya carefully weighed her options, discussing them with her family, teachers, and friends. She revisited her Brown acceptance letter repeatedly, her heart fluttering with excitement each time she read it. Brown had always been her dream school, and now it was within reach.
After much thought and deliberation, Priya knew where she belonged. With newfound confidence and excitement, she logged into Brown's online portal and clicked the "accept" button. It was official; she was going to be part of the Brown University community.
Sharing the news with her friends at Green Hills High School, Priya found comfort and encouragement in their enthusiasm and support. They celebrated her decision to attend Brown, knowing that she had found the perfect place to continue her education and pursue her passion for social justice.
As Priya looked forward to her future at Brown, she felt a deep sense of gratitude for the love and support she had received throughout the entire college application process. Her friends and family had been her rock, and she couldn't wait to embark on this new journey with their encouragement behind her.
Minho Minho had already received his acceptance to MIT Early Action, but that didn't stop him from feeling anxious as he waited for the rest of his regular admissions decisions. Sitting in his room, he watched his email notifications with bated breath, eager to learn the outcomes of his other applications.
As the emails rolled in, Minho began to open them one by one. He was thrilled to see acceptance letters from Caltech, Carnegie Mellon, UC-Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Purdue, UCSD, and SUNY Stony Brook. Over the next few days, Raj spent hours comparing the schools he had been accepted to, looking into their academic programs, extracurricular activities, and overall campus culture. As he researched and reflected, Raj found himself increasingly drawn to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. With its world-renowned business program and bustling urban location, UPenn seemed like the perfect place for him to thrive.
After discussing his options with his family, friends, and teachers, Raj made the decision to attend UPenn's Wharton School. He knew that the outstanding education and resources available to him there would set him on a path to success in the business world.

Rachel Rachel sat in her room, her heart pounding as she stared at her laptop screen. She had already been rejected from Columbia Early Decision, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as she prepared to open her regular admissions decisions. She knew that her tiger mom had high expectations, and the thought of disappointing her made Rachel's stomach churn.
As the emails began to arrive, Rachel hesitantly opened each one. Her face lit up with a smile as she read her acceptance letters from NYU, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Stony Brook. But the waitlist notifications soon followed, revealing that she had been placed on the waitlists for Cornell and Johns Hopkins.
Then came the rejections. Rachel's heart sank as she read the list of schools that had denied her admission: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Duke, Brown, UPenn, Dartmouth, Northwestern, UChicago, Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, Vanderbilt, and Barnard. With each rejection, she felt the weight of her mother's expectations pressing down on her.
Fighting back tears, Rachel shared the news with her father first, hoping to gain some courage before facing her mother. Her father hugged her tightly, reassuring her that he was proud of her accomplishments and would support her decision no matter what.
The moment of truth came when Rachel sat down with her mother to discuss her college admissions results. Bracing herself for disappointment or anger, she shared her acceptances, waitlists, and rejections. To her surprise, her mother's reaction was not as harsh as she had feared. Though there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes, her mother told her that she was proud of her hard work and that she would always be there for her.
As the days went by, Rachel considered her options carefully. She had always loved the city, and the thought of attending NYU, with its vibrant atmosphere and diverse student body, appealed to her. After discussing her options with her parents and friends, she made the decision to attend NYU.
Rachel accepted her offer of admission to NYU with a mix of relief and excitement. She knew that her journey at NYU would be filled with new challenges, opportunities, and the chance to grow as a writer.

Alicia Alicia had already received her Early Action acceptance to Georgetown, but she still eagerly awaited the results of her other college applications. Sitting at the kitchen table with her family, she refreshed her email inbox, hoping for good news.
As the emails arrived, Alicia read the contents out loud to her family. She was elated to announce acceptances from Duke, Dartmouth, Emory, and NYU. Her family clapped and cheered, sharing in her joy and pride at her accomplishments.
Next came the waitlist notifications. Alicia informed her family that she had been placed on the waitlists for Princeton, Cornell, and Northeastern. Although she felt a hint of disappointment, she couldn't help but be grateful for her already impressive list of acceptances.
Finally, she read her rejection letters from Harvard, Yale, and Columbia. Despite the sting of rejection, Alicia remained optimistic, knowing she had already been accepted into several fantastic schools.
Over the following days, Alicia weighed her options. She found herself torn between Duke, where her older brother Marcus attended, and Georgetown's prestigious School of Foreign Service. She discussed her choices with her family, friends, and school counselors, seeking advice and insight to help her make the best decision.
Ultimately, Alicia chose to attend Georgetown. While the prospect of attending Duke and being closer to her brother was appealing, she couldn't deny her passion for international relations and the incredible opportunities that Georgetown's School of Foreign Service offered.
Alicia shared her decision with her brother, who expressed his support and pride in her choice. He knew that Georgetown was the perfect fit for her ambitions and dreams, and he looked forward to hearing about her experiences and successes there.

As she looked forward to her future, she felt a deep sense of gratitude for the love and support she had received throughout her journey. She knew that Georgetown was the perfect place for her to grow, learn, and chase her dreams of making a difference in the world.
David David had already been accepted at Stanford to play football through the Restricted Early Action process, but that didn't stop his anticipation for the regular admissions decisions. As a talented athlete with a strong academic record, he knew that other prestigious schools might also be interested in recruiting him for their football programs.
One afternoon, David received emails from the football coaches at the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame, each expressing their enthusiasm to have him join their respective teams. David felt a sense of pride and accomplishment as he read the messages, knowing that his hard work both on and off the field had paid off.

Taylor After having been deferred from Swarthmore during the Early Decision process, Taylor anxiously awaited their regular college admissions decisions. Sitting in their room, they took a deep breath as they opened their laptop to check their email.
As they started reading through the messages, Taylor felt a surge of happiness when they saw their acceptance letters from Wesleyan, Swarthmore, Barnard, Vassar, Reed, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Stony Brook. Each letter confirmed that these schools appreciated Taylor's unique talents and creativity, and were excited to have them on campus.
Next, Taylor opened the emails notifying them of their waitlist status at Williams, Northwestern, Emory, Georgetown, and Carnegie Mellon. Though a part of them felt disheartened, Taylor knew that they already had several amazing options to choose from.
Finally, Taylor faced the rejection letters from Yale, Duke, Columbia, Amherst, Brown, and Cornell. While it was tough to see those rejections, Taylor reminded themselves that the college admissions process was highly competitive and subjective, and that they had still achieved a great deal.
Over the next few days, Taylor spent hours researching the colleges they had been accepted to, focusing on each school's academic offerings, campus environment, and commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. As they delved deeper, Taylor found themselves increasingly drawn to Wesleyan University, which was renowned for its vibrant arts scene and progressive community.
After discussing their options with family and friends, Taylor ultimately decided to attend Wesleyan. They knew that the university would not only provide them with a top-notch education but also a welcoming and nurturing environment where they could truly thrive as a nonbinary student.
Filled with excitement and anticipation, Taylor sent in their enrollment deposit to Wesleyan, eagerly looking forward to the incredible journey ahead. They couldn't wait to join the Wesleyan community, where they would have the opportunity to learn, grow, and make a lasting impact on the world.
Chapter 6: The Aftermath Priya and Rachel Rachel and Priya sat on the steps outside Green Hills High School, their college decisions in hand. The sun was shining, but Rachel couldn't shake the cloud that hung over her head. She glanced at her list of acceptances and rejections, then looked over at Priya's results.
"Congrats on getting into Brown, Priya. I'm really happy for you," Rachel said, trying to force a smile.
"Thanks, Rachel. I'm excited, but I'm more worried about you. Are you okay?" Priya asked, concerned for her friend.
Rachel sighed, "I can't help but feel disappointed, you know? I got rejected by so many top colleges. All I have are NYU, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Stony Brook, and waitlists at Cornell and Johns Hopkins."
Priya placed a comforting hand on Rachel's shoulder. "Rachel, you're an amazing writer and a talented student. NYU is a fantastic school, and it's in the heart of New York City – the perfect place for a budding writer like you. Besides, you never know what might happen with the waitlists."
Rachel looked down at her results, then back at Priya. "I guess you're right. It's just that you got into so many prestigious schools, and I can't help but feel a little envious. I saw you were waitlisted at NYU, but I bet they only did that because they're afraid you'd choose another school over them."
Priya smiled reassuringly. "That's kind of you to say, but you shouldn't compare yourself to me or anyone else. We all have our own paths, and NYU seems like a perfect fit for you. Plus, I'm genuinely thrilled about your acceptance there."
Rachel nodded, taking a deep breath. "You know, my parents were actually happy about NYU. I was really surprised. I guess I should focus on the positives and make the most of the opportunity. Thank you, Priya. You're a good friend."
Priya hugged Rachel. "That's what friends are for, Rachel. I know you'll do great things at NYU, and we'll still keep in touch no matter where we are. We're in this together."
With a newfound sense of determination, Rachel decided to embrace her future at NYU, ready to make her mark on the world as an incredible writer.

Alicia Davis, wearing her Georgetown shirt, smiled as she thought about attending the prestigious university and following in her brother's footsteps of pursuing a law degree.
Alex Madrigal, dressed in Northwestern purple, was excited to embark on his academic journey at a top-tier school. He shared his enthusiasm with classmates who were also preparing to move to the Midwest.
Taylor, wearing a Wesleyan University shirt, found comfort in knowing that they would be attending a college that celebrated their nonbinary identity and allowed them to explore their creativity.
Raj Singh, proudly displaying his UPenn Wharton shirt, engaged in a lively debate about business and economics, eager to learn from the best in the world.
Mary Sinclair, wearing her Brown University shirt, felt a mix of relief and excitement as she thought about her future at the Ivy League institution, hoping to prove herself beyond her family legacy.
As the day went on, the students of Green Hills High School celebrated their accomplishments and the new chapters ahead. They shared memories, laughter, and even some tears as they prepared to embark on their college journeys. Though they would soon part ways, the bonds forged at Green Hills would remain a cherished part of their lives.

2023.03.22 11:01 Sad-Trifle12 Getting the nerves... Half marathon in 3 weeks... Some doubts about my training and readiness
I've been using a Coaching plan on Garmin Forerunner to train (Coach Jeff) for my upcoming half marathon in 3 weeks'time.
For the plan, I set it as "completing", without a target time for completion.
Been on the plan for 16 weeks by now, and the longest run I've been asked to run was 1:45 (2 weeks ago). With that time, I managed to complete only 15 km (yeah, I'm slow... And also old).
With the HM in 3 weeks' time, the plan seems to be "tapering". As in, now this week, the longest run is only 1 hour and next week is also 1 hour max. I can't see what's ahead beyond that l as that's the furthest it allows me to see.
I'm worried that I am not going to be able to complete the HM. Strangely, the plan is predicting I can complete it in 2:23. Which I highly doubt.
Should I be concerned?
Sorry if this sounds like a noob question. This is only my 3rd HM. My previous 2 times, I completed with a run-walk strategy at 3:10 and 3:30 (cramped from 13 km onwards, so walked basically from that point onwards).

2023.03.22 02:32 SoftSeason5391 I got rejected by every school I applied to so far.
I’m reposting this just to compare my college acceptance projections with the results I got.
For some context, I’m an international student from Brazil looking for financial assistance. Though a full-ride would be the most advantageous option for my family’s finances, my parents were willing to pay for college costs if I got a partial scholarship.
I applied to 31 schools after being forced to go on a gap year. I had gotten into both NYU (NYC campus) and Purdue with average extracurriculars, a 4.0 gpa, and good essays, but couldn’t go to any of these schools due to financial incompatibilities.
Going on a gap year only strengthed my ECs and awards, which made me consider applying to college in the US again. I was obviously scared – A2C doesn’t have very favorable opinions about gap years – and I was aware that going sabbatical could negatively impact my chances of going to a t20 since I had already applied (and was rejected) to top schools like Dartmouth, Yale, and Northwestern.
My current college list consists mostly of t20s, Ivies, “Little Ivies” (Swarthmore, Bowdoin, etc), and “safeties” (like Bard and Sarah Lawrence). These schools placed significant importance on my financial situation, so, even though my application was virtually strong, I was rejected at Bard and deferred at Sarah Lawrence.
Here’s my application:
Demographics: Female, White (technically Latina cuz I’m from Brazil, but I have mostly Western European ancestry).
Intended major: Physics.
SAT: I’m going test optional (and fearing for my life).
UW/WGPA: 4.0 uw, 4.93 w. Graduated optima within the best 5% of my class/389 kids.
Coursework: junior (AP Lit, AP World History, AP Human Geography, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Spanish, AP Physics); senior (AP English, AP Biology, AP CSP, AP Psychology, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, AP Politics).
Awards: Brazilian Physics Olympiad finalist; state/regional honor for academic merit; state honor for excellence in mathematical performance; medal for civil merit; school award for academic achievement; Columbia Engineering Experience 2022 (ik it’s weird, but they said we should list it as an honor).
Extracurriculars: published independent research in physics; received a merit scholarship for a research program to develop research in theoretical physics; summer physics program at a highly prestigious national university; created an online platform using C++ in which I tutored students whose understanding of STEM subjects was impoverished during the pandemic; youth parliament (governor’s program) in which I created a city law; volunteered at the best hospital in Latin America; internship at National STEM Honor Society; founded and was elected president of my school’s student council; field hockey varsity team captain; head of my school’s drama club; taught English to kids from impoverished backgrounds; studied astrophysics under an Oxbridge professor; studied neurolinguistics under a NYU postdoc; model UN; created a campaign to help girls in teenage pregnancy; volunteered at an Italian circus; feminist literature book club president.
(Because I have so many ECs, obviously because of my gap year, I kinda juggled them all according to my supplemental essays topic).
I’m also polyglot, being able to fluently converse in English, Italian, German, French and Korean, apart from Portuguese, which is my native language. I’m currently studying Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Ancient Greek and Latin.
Common App Essay: I wrote about what books meant to me as a child and how I taught my late Great-Grandma how to read and write, something that connected really personally with my work as a language tutor. I 100% regret this essay topic now; I struggled really hard with this essay and, looking back at it now, I know I could’ve come up with something better.
LOR: physics teacher (best student in his class), ap human geo (top of her class, she loved me), coach (field hockey), peer (for Dartmouth, best friend is a physics major at the best university in Latin America).
