Ah, I can nearly see the light at the end of the dark tunnel of being done with my short term nanny job with an infant. This was not for me. I’m so, absolutely so, over having my nervous system shook up upon loud baby screams, obsessive parents, deep feelings of isolation, and some of the most draining weeks of my life.
Some points of gratitude: good pay cuz I took on extra household tasks (though sometimes that got taken advantage of), nice area to go on walks in, getting hired when I desperately needed work, and full circle epiphanies that if I keep doing this line of work I will continue to spiral downward (isolation <—> internet addiction, lost potential of learning from nature due to being indoors for so many hours, and missed connections in community due to the exhausting early hour start times, and general social capacities becoming limited).
Though I’m still unsure of my next steps, I feel relief that this is nearly done and that I will be more firm with myself to never work as a nanny again. (I know not all nanny experiences are like this and maybe older kids would be better, but I need to be done.)

Hi there! This is first time interaction with the UniFi subreddit so please let me know if there is somewhere else I should post this or if I am missing information.
Problem:
Several devices have intermittent connectivity issues where connection speeds drop to low single digits (megabits/sec). I’m not sure if this is an issue with the meshing of several different access points or perhaps another issue. The speeds when standing near an AP range from 200-400 Mb/s but quickly drop off in some areas of the house. I’d venture a guess that there are “deadzones” in the wireless mesh coverage, but the wifi quality experience displayed in the UniFi Console is always 90% or greater, even when speeds are showing to be in the low single digits. If the wifi quality for a device is “Excellent” in the UniFi console, does that mean that perhaps there is another issue? It really feels like every few minutes the internet drops on a given device for a minute or so.
System specs: USG-Pro-4 Outdoor UAP-AC-M-Pro Indoor 3x UAP-AC-Pro, one on each story of the house.
The system is fully up to date. The system was installed and configured by an IT professional, so I am confident that nothing too major is awry, but there is definitely an issue with the network somewhere.
Please let me know if there is certain information from the console that would be helpful in diagnosing this issue!

Ok Ill try to make this quick
I am a real estate agent (18 months in)
I've made 13k so far this year but I also have a b2b sales job that pays me 50k a year plus commission (around 1k monthly) so 62k per year. All in all, by simply doing a bare minimum I can probably make around 100k doing these two jobs in tandem.
I don't hate this b2b job and it does have perks one of them being that i can do real estate at the same time.
The problem is that I dont see myself doing this b2b job for long as it is inconsistent, lots of issues with orders, not getting paid properly (commission, my hourly salary is always paid properly) and lack of advancement. And its a door to door business job, i hate prospecting and door knocking even if its businesses.
So I've started looking for something I could do long term which brings me to two jobs opportunies in Insurance, one has already hired my (start day July 31st) and the other one will submit an offer monday (start day July 4th) both jobs pay respectively 52k and 55k yearly, the problem with these two jobs, is that although I can see myself doing it longterm and building a nice career out of it, is that I will have to hang up my real estate license as you cannot do both jobs at the same time.
So not only am I going from 62k/y to 55k but I also will have to say bye bye to my side hustle which is real estate.
On top of that, I just put some friends under contract for the sale of their 500k condo and purchase of a 800k house which we are still looking for so that's about 25k in commissions if we end up closing eventually in the next couple months.
So you can see where my dilemma lies, do I quit everything and start from scratch at 55k and work my up slowly but surely and have peace of mind (work from home 3 days a week 2 days in office, no weekends no nights) or do I suck it up, keep my b2b job that pays 62k a year and keep doing real estate but keep living with this anxiety of the future and not knowing exactly where I am headed career wise?
I really need help and I have to start answer all these companies soon as the start dates are very soon and I'm just so stressed about it.

Today me and my friend went to smoke and then this girl he was meeting was with this girl im talking to but I was too afraid of even coming near and my legs started shaking because of every time id be denied by girls and it’s just been happening for too long I’m just so socially awkward if anyone starts taking my mind goes blank because I have so many paranoid thoughts going through my head, my head goes blank and it feels like I wanna die when even mentioned of being near her just from the fear of denial and my insecurities , it might not have anything to do with dpdr but I just wanna talk to someone about it, should I tell her I have anxiety and how I really am because im so scared of judgement

On May 1st, I woke up and found that the dining room of my apartment had a hole in the ceiling. Appeared to be from storms and a roof leak, many personal items were covered in debris but fortunately, no damage other than a 2'x3' hole in the ceiling. Sent in a work order and went by the office. When I came home, the debris was cleared by the workers and I was just waiting for a board or a patch to temp fix the hole or a permanent fix.
A day later, I had a work order on my door saying I didn’t answer, so I informed the office that they had permission to enter to fix(the work order said the same but they either misread or skipped that line).
After a week of no fixes or contact, I sent in another work order attaching photos as well.
The next week I went back to the office and was told they’ll get someone one it.
The next week I called emergency maintenance and they said to go to the office.
The next week I went back by the office.
It’s now been nearly 6 weeks. I don’t know what to do. I didn’t want to leave as the apartment overall has been great and is close to work and recreation I do. But I cannot even get someone to call me back. I sent another work order in but the office is already closed. My apartment is 85 degrees with the air running on full because it’s been zapped out of the gaping hole that leads to the roof(2nd/top floor is me)
I’ve been stressing on the work orders and voicemails that my apartment is not secure. I do not have a domicile providing me protection from the elements or animals, as the hole leads to the roof that may or may not still have a hole in that was leaking.
I have no damages to my property but next months energy bill is going to be insane.
Any advice on what to say, how to say it, what to do would be helpful. Many things on this vary lease to lease, but my lease is with a large apartment complex of over 100 Units.
I’m just at my wits end. I don’t want to say I’m crying over the stress but with how high electric costs already are, I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it next month.

Hi! I just started a job as an account manager at a mid sized landscaping company in a major city. I have experience working on install crews and as a flower farmer and have a background in sales from other jobs so I’m excited to finally get into a position that combines my skill set and interests.
Anyway - there are no designers or architects at my job so the account managers do that work although the jobs are relatively small. I am very excited to have the opportunity to learn more about the design and architecture side and my boss told me I should use some of my downtime for self education. Are there any books or resources that y’all recommend for someone who is experienced in the landscape world but wants to further design knowledge and skills? I have plenty of experience reading design plans just not creating them, and would say my knowledge is lacking when it comes to trees and shrubs.

This clay season had some crazy stories on the ATP side. Rune, Rublev, Carlos, Novak, even Clayvedev all looking like contenders. Rafa's crazy withdrawal stabbed the hearts of a majority of this sub. It felt like it was a buildup to RG, which makes it so shocking that this is the most disappointing French I've seen.
Rublev may have had a bit of hangover in the masters after finally winning MC, but 3rd round exit in RG to Sonego is below him imo, he's made QF at this event twice. Rune, extremely talented and finalist for two M1000s on clay this season. He probably should have been the freshest going into R16, nearly died to Cerundolo (he's good but inconsistent, and has less experience than Rune). To finish, he went out on a disappointing note against Ruud, where it seems like he never really started the first 2 sets.
Medvedev got a taste of clay success and said "it's nice to win a title, but still bad surface" and returned to playing Rainbow 6. He went back to the same old story on clay, and his Rome form disappeared mostly. Sinner continued to disappoint on clay with losing to Altmeier. For someone as hyped up as he is, it seems like his career could be Wawrinka like. Super high peak and can beat the best, maybe win 2-3 slams but he won't sustain that top player peak for many years.
Nadal being out sort of killed the Roland Garros vibe we've come to love over the years, "Who can topple the King?". Without that, even if it is Novak fighting for the fairytale GOAT debate ender, it feels almost like Australia again. The man has no competition. It's not his fault that the draw ends up being the easiest version possible, but cmon, someone make him try a little bit! Please? The bottom draw is completely wide open so huge potential for a first time finalist, but Ruud decides to play his best tennis all year and repeats the run, but honestly no one is picking him to beat Djokovic now.
Carlos had the potential to usher in a new era (this was supposed to happen many years ago), and he's the only NextGen who has the potential to be an all-time great, the only one who I would ever think has a chance if it was a match between him vs prime Big 3 members. But no, the biggest match of the clay season, basically the final, and we get cheated out of it by horrible cramps and the match is over right as it starts to get really good.
So good job to Novak, he deserves all of his records, but damn I just wanted some entertainment.

I'm looking to get in shape! I saw this Instagram ad for a weight loss program for Crossfit Pendulum in Pasadena.
The 6 week program includes:

• "Nutrition program" basically they print out a list of foods I should be eating based on my goals

Is this expensive or a good deal?

I (M19) live in a rural area where my family owns nearly all the surrounding land. Two days ago I was pulled over on a road allowance right outside a man’s field approach. I was looking for some alone time to read away from the family, 20 minutes into enjoying my book a little man on an ATV comes riding down the road unarmed before he stops outside my truck and demands I leave the premises because I’m near his field approach. Legally everything next is a joke but before he’d even spoke I’d already grabbed my glock,I told the man it was a public road allowance I knew I wasn’t trespassing and I’m clearly not blocking his approach, but in response he begins to get confrontational yelling that he doesn’t care and puffing up his chest. Again legally joking but in my head the following ideas were
1) I can just shoot or rob him here and now 2) I could turn on my truck and run over him and his little atv 3) let him get so mad he calls the cops or try’s to get violent
I’m honestly proud of myself I’m a very angry person who’s usually undisciplined in controlling outbursts but this time I remained calm deescalated the situation and parked in the approach of another field owned by a farmer I personally knew none of this is the problem. The big problem and the TLDR is I keep having thoughts of not only how easy it would have been to hurt that man but I keep thinking of new ways to hurt this man all for just arrogantly trying to flaunt authority he never had over me.
What he did was insanely stupid in a state like this I know a lot better men just doing what was right that have been shot or beaten never mind trying to white knight the ditch of a public road so I’d usually find his arrogance amusing but now these vengeful thoughts just won’t stop his field his surrounded by land my family owns which opens up even more possibilities but I don’t want that for myself If I’m actually proud why am I not thinking happy proud thoughts instead of how to commit arson on a guy for something petty

How does this impact 303?
We are a smaller community, and thus I haven't needed to use third party mod tools to regulate this sub. However, I depend on Sync to browse, engage with, and moderate on Reddit. Sync, like many other third-party apps, will be shutting down on 6/30/23, as they cannot afford to exist under Reddit's new API pricing. As stated above, I also utilize old.reddit and RES; the loss of these tools in favor of the absolutely abysmal New Reddit and the official Reddit app will make even daily use of Reddit -- let alone moderating -- incredibly difficult.
But Spez said in his AMA--
I do not trust Spez, and neither should you, considering the blatant lies he's been making regarding his interactions with the Apollo dev. These changes are a pathway to removing tools that they don't want to support in favor of ad revenue.
What can I do to help?
Don't use Reddit next week. Don't buy Reddit Gold. Don't engage with their NFT platform. Consider joining Save3rdPartyApps. And upvote posts from other subreddits about going dark in protest for visibility.

I will be deactivating this Reddit account on 6/30. I have been on this site for over nine years. In addition to this wonderful community that I've been moderating for almost that entire time -- and with many many thanks to Knickersniffer for the opportunity -- I've been a part of some other amazing subreddits, for electronic music and beyond. It'll be sad to go, but this site is moving in a direction I no longer want to be a part of. (Honestly, it feels like the entire Internet is moving that way.)

Final thoughts: I love Reddit. Honestly, it's been a far better than any other social media out there. The way this site is designed pushes positivity and creativity in ways other platforms simply can't. I'm incredibly disappointed that Reddit learned nothing from the previous failures of Tumblr and Twitter in the hunt for short-term IPO profits. You would think that, considering this site's history, we'd have some smarter people at the top. But Spez's behavior in handling this has been nothing short of appalling, and the future of this platform looks bleak. I'm sure a replacement will roll along that puts the power back in the hands of the user, but then, I said that about Tumblr too.

For a moment I forgot I was inside the Great Hall and I was transported to a summer garden.
The ornate wooden pillars guided my sight to the center of the room. An exquisite carpet embroidered with fantastical animals and monsters went from the entrance to the foot of the Marquis throne. Captain Kiln guided me into the room where the nobles from the balcony leisurely chatted around the throne.
“That man over there,” Captain Kiln pointed at a man near the window. “He is Marquis Tauron of Farcrest.”
The Marquis was a tall man with a squared jaw and wide shoulders dressed in a simple white shirt and a red vest. From his belt hung a gilded scabbard and a short cape with his crest, a man impaling a wolf, covered his left shoulder. His tanned skin stood out among the paleness of the rest of the courtesans.
“Might I ask what his class is?” I asked.
The Captain gave me an amused glance before replying. “The Marquis is a high level Flame Fencer. I can beat his ass though.”
Abei walked up to the Marquis and after a few words, he walked to his throne. The rest of the courtesans sat on the chairs by the sides of the room, chatting in lower voices.
“Robert Clarke from the City of Light, please come forward.” Abei announced with his voice magically amplified and I felt all glances falling on me.
The old man continued speaking, invoking ancient laws, but I zoned out. Unlike the rest of the people I knew, the Marquis seemed to overflow with magic. If I narrowed my eyes I could almost see red sparks of mana floating around him. A shiver ran down my spine, the Marquis’ mana pool seemed to violently boil inside him. “We have witnessed the titles of an innocent man. For that reason I shall grant you free passage across the kingdom.” The Marquis announced and got a round of applause. Now he glanced at me with predatory eyes.
Abei took out a scroll from his sleeve and with a movement of the hand, the Scholar made it float in the air. With another movement, mana emerged from the tips of his fingers and washed over the scroll like the waves of the sea. With each clash, the words were imprinted in the yellowy surface until the document was complete. Abei took it to the Marquis who pressed his ring against the scroll, leaving a gleaming symbol that slowly lost its magical shine.
“Here you are, Master Clarke.” Abei handed me the passage permit.
“Accept my humble thanks, milord. I will not take more of your time.” I mumbled, still confused by the whole experience. I knew one thing, I had to get away before anything happened.
As I started my getaway when the Marquis spoke again.
“Your knowledge and potential hasn’t passed unnoticed to me and I will like to reward you properly.” The Marquis said with a mysterious grin on his face, but I knew there was no such thing as a free lunch. Whatever the Marquis was offering me wasn’t a reward but a deal I wasn’t in position to refuse without insulting him.
“I can’t think of a reward other than a letter of recommendation for the Imperial Academy.” The Marquis announced with his mighty voice. “The royal family would be thrilled to have such a promising young man helping with the academic development of the kingdom.”
There it was. The Marquis wanted to turn me into a gift for the King of Ebros, and part of me was okay with it. A recommendation letter would greatly expedite my journey to the imperial capital for a foreigner like me, however, something prevented me from jumping headfirst into the offer.
“Can I ask a question, milord?” I said before I could stop my tongue. “I have been watching the comings and goings of the inhabitants of Farcrest and there is something that bothers me.”
I couldn’t accept the recommendation letter without an answer.
“Speak your mind, Robert Clarke. I’m well aware Scholars have ten questions for every answer they have.” The Marquis' attention was fixed on me.
“I couldn't help but notice a great amount of vagrant kids in the northern district while the farmlands around the city lack laborers and some parts of the city lack proper maintenance. Farcrest seems to have enough resources to flourish and yet they seem arranged in the most peculiar way. With a little investment in the orphanages, the Marquis could educate the kids so they become useful classes for the city.” I said.
Suddenly, the Marquis wasn’t as amused with my presence anymore.
“If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I understand that for a Master Tutor every problem can be resolved through education.” The Marquis replied with a derisive tone.
I didn’t mention that the actual solution to many social problems was indeed education. Instead, I clenched my teeth and waited in silence. If I was to open my mouth it was going to insult the Marquis’ ancestry.
“Master Clarke lacks the context…” Abei started talking but the Marquis silenced him.
“Miserable orphan lives are a small price for Farcrest’s prosperity.” The Marquis rested his hands together and gave me a winning smile.
The picture of Elincia and her kids eating watery soup came to my mind and I had to bite my tongue to not open my mouth. I saw the tears of the small snake kids, Zaon’s doubts about the future, the bravery of the tiny harpy Shu. I saw Elincia clenching her jaw to withstand the pain of her wounded leg to return faster to the orphanage.
There was something I wasn’t catching.
“The King’s war machine can only be quenched with gold or blood, and orphan blood is cheaper than gold coins. We just take the surplus kids that can’t be fed in the orphanages and send them to the Royal Army.” The Marquis taunted me.
For an instant I didn’t believe what I heard. The Marquis was sending orphans to their certain death just to avoid paying the royal war tax.
“In any case, they are given a chance to survive but the Farlands are a treacherous enemy. Even if they die, they are doing a great service to the prosperity of Farcrest, and the realm.” The Marquis said with a predatory smile, then, he got comfortable in the throne, awaiting my answer.
“A cunning solution for a tricky problem, milord.” I bit my tongue.
The Marquis smiled full of himself, thinking he had secured a nice present for the royal family while outsmarting me in front of the court. The courtesans spoke of how benevolent the Marquis was for offering me a recommendation letter. But the mere idea of leaving Elincia and her kids to their fate made me want to puke.
“I can’t accept the letter of recommendation, milord.” I raised my voice, catching the attention of the whole courtroom.
The Marquis’ face fell apart.
“If you accept my proposal, you will be a Sage in no time. You will be freed of the shackles of a support class once and for all.” The Marquis couldn't hide the venom in his words.
My heart still yearned to accept the recommendation letter, travel to the Imperial Library, and become a spellcaster. But I couldn’t accept it. My new titles reminded me of how I felt years ago when I was a young and idealistic teacher. I felt like I could change the world for me and for others and no matter how naive it was, I wanted to preserve that feeling.
“I can’t accept the letter. The System made me a Scholar, and a Scholar I shall remain until it decides otherwise. Trying to change that unnaturally goes against my oaths. I hope you can understand.” I said, praying that invoking the System would save me from the Marquis wrath.
“Then you are a fool. We have nothing more to discuss, get out of my sight.” The Marquis growled and I felt the captain’s iron grip closing around my arm. She dragged me out of the room. As soon as the gates closed behind us, she let me go.
“That’s the biggest shitshow I have seen in a while, congratulations. The Marquis is going to hold a grudge.” Captain Kiln said as she signaled one of the guards to grab my backpack. My heart raced inside my chest but at least I was outside the courtroom with my head still glued to my body.
“Today I remembered something I had forgotten long ago.” I said as Captain Kiln walked me, or rather pushed me, back to the main entrance.
“And what is that?” The woman inquired, now more intrigued in my person than ever.
“I used to have strong ideals at some point in my life, might as well start following them.” I extended my hand, offering her the two silver coins she had lent me. “These are yours.”
“You are going to need them if you are going to do what I am thinking.” Captain Kiln said, pushing me through the door. The guardsmen at the gates glanced at me with amused expressions. It seemed that not every day the Captain kicked some random dude out of the Great Hall.
Despite her treatment, I noticed an approving look in her eyes. She took the money and put it into her pocket. I was having a hard time reading the woman. Was she loyal to the Marquis or did she have her own honor code?
“I’ll tell you a rumor I heard the other day.” Captain Kiln grabbed me by the jacket and drew me near to her so nobody else could hear. “Someone had been threatening lower nobility to not donate money and the merchants to not deal with orphanage owners. Do you understand what I am saying?”
I nodded in silence. The Marquis wanted to starve the orphanages so the kids had to join the army early. What I couldn’t understand was why the captain of the city guard shared that information with me.
“Lay low. Stay out of trouble, stay out of the Marquis’ sights.” Captain Kiln whispered as she turned around and returned to the Great Hall, leaving me in the middle of the main street.
Before the guardsmen could push me away from the gates, I turned around and entered the busy market knowing exactly what I had to do.

the predicament:
i have been struggling w/ heat off my X1E G5 (w/ i7-12700H CPU) ever since i bought it. especially when connected to A/C power, i found that it is running at turbo clock speeds even when idling. fans whirring away constantly - absolute madness IMHO. i confess, i tolerate noise very badly in general.
it is my daily driver for work, which consists mostly of sysadmin stuff, shell scripting and the like. i did not buy it for power, but b/c i wanted a large enough screen in as thin and light a form factor as possible. and the trackpoint is a must for me. this machine, btw has one of the best trackpoints i ever used, ever. X1E Gen3 is rubbish in comparison, i used X1 Yoga Gen2 a while back, it was not great either. the T450s/T440 were only ok. The X1E Gen5 has a really, really good trackpoint.
w/ that said, the g5 is NOT a thin and light machine by any stretch of the imagination. it is a P1 re-badged and it is not worthy of the X1 brand. and just for context, the X1E Gen3 (w/ i7-10850H CPU) is a thin, light and freezing cold machine compared to the Gen5.
i also made the mistake of buying it w/ an i7 CPU (it was on sale), which i regretted almost immediately.
half measures:
so since the only effective way of making the CPU run cooler - undervolting - is not an option (wtf???), i resorted to disabling turbo boost, which improved things only mildly with painful disadvantages: it was still idling at 2.3+ GHz, which is unacceptable, but obviously would not boost when there was actual need.
i also installed TPFanControl (https://github.com/nikolasgd/TPFanControl-dual-fan), which helped w/ the fans running constantly, but could not fix the actual issue of poor design: a hot running CPU that would not throttle properly paired with a heat-sink that was not up to the job.
i also turned on battery saver for all the time - this actually worked great when running off battery, but did nothing for me when on A/C power.
so i was thinking of selling this pile of mess (i have other major annoyances w/ this machine as well) and returning to the Gen 3 (luckily i still have it lying around).
the actual 'solution':
then, in my desperation and started toying w/ the idea of reducing the number of CPUs, of which this beast has 20, physical + logical totaled.
first i disabled the efficiency cores. this did not make much of a difference on its own, but paired w/ disabling turbo boost, it did bring temperatures down - and fans were on less frequently.
then i thought to hell w/ performance, i'll disable hyperthreading as well. and to my greatest surprise, things started to fall into place. the damned thing started throttling to around 1.3 GHz while idling. and it hovers around 1.6 - 1.9 GHz when doing light work, like running RDP ovre VPN and participating in Zoom/Teams/Meet video conferences.. woohoo!! my laptop was running around 65-70 C w/ the fan only occasionally kicking in.
so i got bold and re-enabled the efficiency cores AND turbo boost - and lo and behold, it is still throttling like when it is on Battery power. my fans are actually stopped most of the time, but the CPU spins to 4+ GHz when needed. happy days.
conclusion:
since i really don't use this laptop for power, but for its keyboard (pretty good), the 16" display (damned good) and the trackpoint (actually great), the cost of performance loss is minimal, while fan noise is literally eliminated (if i let the machine run at 80 C constantly, the fans almost never kick in) all the while, if i am running something that takes a bit of kick, i do have turbo boost and away we go - actually and figuratively...
definitely not for everyone, but i imagine i am not the only one happy w/ such a compromise.
