Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity is an officially recognized disability in Sweden (this is not recognized as an illness because no diagnosis exists for this condition).” Professor Johansson gave the example of a head ache “ how can one measure the pain or prove the existence of a head ache?” Sweden ranks in the top 10 in the world for healthcare. 2023.06.10 00:30 Small-Elevator2261 Is it possible to be in a domestic violence relationship with your parents?
My narc mom would abuse me, then get all affectionate later saying she loved her baby girl and give me gifts. Narc dad would do the same thing. He would buy fancy gifts for me and narc mom to make up for the times he abused us.
When I was 18, he got a temporary job in California and wanted me and mom to join him. I discovered he only wanted us out there to make himself look good in front of his colleagues...whom we never met.
I already had plans and told them I wasn't going. Plus, traveling with them was hell on earth. My narc parents teamed up and manipulated the crap out of me; forcing me into a corner where I literally had no choice but to go. Mom had tried to kill me a month prior when I refused to go on another trip and I didn't want her to succeed that time. I spent 6 weeks in a crappy town in a crappy apartment with no chance of making any friends to make the time bearable. I was unpleasant during the whole trip, and was beyond thrilled when they sent me back home so I could go to college. Dad "realized" he shouldn't have emotionally blackmailed me and spent years buying a bunch of expensive stuff trying to make up for ruining my 18th summer.
I seriously feel like I was in a domestic violence relationship with my parents; more so mom because she was physically violent.

This is a little random, but I’m wondering what grass seed people have had good luck with in this area? I know there are the big brands at Home Depot, and the smaller brands like Zamzows, but I’m not sure where to start. We have a mostly sunny area.

2023.06.10 00:05 _UNDERSCORE_YANN_ AITA for not wanting to pay for the damages I did to my friend car?
For a bit of context:
I was in holidays at my friend home, and we (my friend and I) decided to do a run to an equivalent of Home depot. We are booth petrol heads.
She needed to go to an appointment, and for the second time of the day (and since she own the car), her car did not start, so I used my jumper cable one more time.
When connecting the jumper cables, I said out loud "black on black and red on red". Some spark did fly the first time I tried to connect booth cars (a bit more than usual, but it didn't alarm me), but it worked on the second try without many sparks.
Her car started doing an horrible noise so I quickly removed one end of the jumper cables and checked: I did put black on red and red on black.
I quickly changed the cables to put red on red and black on black, and her car started, however, her alternator didn't seem to work, and her car wouldn't go in drive. (Stuck between 8,9V and 9,3V). I apologized a lot as I was feeling very bad about my error and the potential consequences.
She is blaming me for destroying a lot of electronics in her car (at least the battery, alternator and power steering, maybe the gearbox computer and more) and has sent me the quote to repair the car (Over 1000€). On her point of view, it's my fault for connecting the cable wrong. She accept to pay for the new battery but want me to pay for the rest (around 900€). She also expect me to pay for any further damages it might have caused (gearbox electronics for example).
I don't want to pay all the repairs since I helped her. I fully admit my error, but don't want to pay 100% since I was helping and she didn't check what I was doing. I don't think that you should pay for an error while trying to help someone.
I am available to answer any question in the comments if you need any part of the story to be made clearer.

2023.06.09 23:19 PrimeParadigm53 In December my soulmate suffered a psychotic break.
In January we lost custody of our* kids.
On February 4th, I learned that- even in cases when the accusations are being made by a psychotic- California law requires an arrest be made in response to any accusation of domestic violence.
On Feb 6th, in the middle of the night, 40 miles from anything I recognized- I got my clothes back, and despite feeling some sick sympathy for the officer who really seemed to feel like he had to do his job 36 hours earlier, it suddenly became clear that anyone who "didn't see any evidence of an xl pizza being thrown at your back" and also handcuffed me, was- objectively, undeniably, observably- completely full of shit. On the bright side though, as a Black man who had/would never voluntarily put my faith in the system, I did get a sincere chuckle out of it working exactly as fucking expected. That's a fucking highlight right there.
On February 7th, under guidance that any other option would "simply be harboring accusations" I moved out of my home.
Today it (finally) became clear (enough... even for me), that I don't have the power to save our partnership... Our home... Our family... Or even just her.
In September, in a room I will have no standing in, long term custody of *our children will be awarded to either their racist grandmother or their abusive *father. And... That's it. That's gonna be the end of the story.
I don't know what to do with myself. I've always been a resilient problem solver. I've literally never felt hopeless before.
Life sucks.

2023.06.09 23:15 CVic20 Disappointment With Moza
I saw another post about quality control issues at Moza recently, so I wanted to share my experience as well.
I bought an R21 and an RS V2, for a total of about a $1,600 purchase. The base came with 3/4" mounting bolts, which would be fine if my rig were made out of cardboard. Since the mounting plate is made out of 3/4" metal instead, I reached out to their support creating a high priority ticket about this. It's been over a week with no response other than the one saying the ticket was received.
It's really annoying that they skimped, saving maybe $1 on a $1,600 sale, while costing me two hours to drive to Home Depot to find bolts that work. If I were in their position, I would spring for the $1 to include multiple bolt lengths. It's even worse that there has been no response to the ticket. I hope I don't encounter any larger issue that requires support.

2023.06.09 23:09 Hot-Math4128 Someone at UPS Depot swapped my parcel
Hi, need some advice here what to do. I myself posted a parcel from USA to myself in the UK. It was quite a big box over 40kg, 50x50x50cm. Parcel arrived at local depot. It was loaded onto the truck at 7am but no delivery was made at the end of the day. Next morning I get the parcel by the UPS driver however I wasn’t home to see it. Once I got home it was a much smaller parcel, weighing about 10kg. Someone had taken the paper label out the plastic UPS sticker envelope, put it into a new envelope and stuck it on a random parcel that was supposed to be for someone near my house. So this definitely happened at a local depot before loading the truck for the local area. I have called UPS CS, they called the depot, and someone from the depot called me and found my story absurd. But this happened. Next day I ask a random UPS driver who said he knows that sometimes the people who load into trucks steal packages that they think are high value, although it is rare as there are hidden cameras all around the depot. Has anyone ever experienced something like this before? I’ve now lost my parcel with important personal goods and nobody is able to tell me what has happened.

2023.06.09 23:07 ElegantEntropy California rate changes will screw roof-top solar households
CPUC plans to introduce flat rate for electricity, which is based on income. This will mean much lower bills for low income, but higher bills for even those who are self sufficient.
https://www.cnet.com/home/energy-and-utilities/electricity-bills-in-california-will-soon-be-based-on-income-heres-how-it-could-work/
Since the charges are based on income and are fixed, it doesn't mater if your net usage is almost zero. You will still pay $100+ bills every month for being connected to the grid. Currently suggested fixed bill for a household income of $180K is $128/month for SDGE customers (who are already paying highest electricity costs in the nation).
It's no secret that most of the solar deployments are done on home where people have higher incomes, since they have the discretionary money to future proof their homes with solar and battery power. But now these households will be penalized.
It would also disincentivize large households from getting solar since these systems cost tens of thousands for large homes due to higher consumption. It's a lot cheaper to just pay the fixed rate and use as much as one wants, even waste it by constantly running AC, leaving lights on, etc.
What worries me even more is that this may apply to everyone, including those on NEM2.0 since NEM has to do with the rate payed by utility to the customer for excess solar and mechanics of the accounting for it. However, as long as the household is connected to the grid, it may mean that they still can charge the fixed rate regardless of NEM2.0.
I installed solar because my bills were high - hundreds of dollars. My bill now is about ~$15 after getting a solar system. Under proposed change it would be around $150. It's definitely not the hundreds i used to pay, but it's also not $15.
They are not only killing the benefits of the solar, but also about to encourage waste and discourage energy conservation.

2023.06.09 22:47 GENsesh3 Need opinions sorry for the long post
| Hey, so I'm new to the group. Me and my wife are transitioning to van life for sale of avoiding homelessness. So it's more of a survival things, that will be upgraded to be better at some point in time. We don't have many options, we're having to drive it to Maine, where we will park it on some family land, add things to it, live in it, etc. They have a shit ton of land and we're like parking and living in either a van or a tent if we can't live in the van until the van is ready. Until the van is fully ready to be traveling ready for her and I and our dog. Now that that's out of the way, let me ask for the opinions on this van we found. We found a 1990 Chevy G20 with 180,000 miles, that already is converted quite a bit. It was converted by a company in California to be a home traveling office. It has a built in generator, storage, etc. The generator does need a fuel pump replaced, but I looked the part up and it's not bad at all (it's a generac generator). They said it does have a oil leak, they aren't sure what it's from as they didnt have the money to have it checked out. We went and saw it and it was pretty cool! It really is converted, the AC is connected to the generator and once that's fixed the rooftop AC will work. It isn't the best. We test drove it and it drove pretty good, it was stable, it felt smooth, it started up just fine, we checked the exhaust to see if liquid was coming out and there was none. It also has a new battery. We also checked the transmission fluid to see if it smelled like rotten eggs, and it didn't, it smelled like oil and didn't look like awful oil, not black but not red either, more of an auburn. The engine bay looked nice and clean. The vans AC could use a charge, or it might be the radiator. The radiator did look like it could be replaced for sure. We tried to check the leak but we couldn't find any. The person said that they didn't even know if it was a oil leak, it could have just been a loose cap, they never got it checked out from financial stress. We think it could be the radiator as it wasn't spitting cold air, but we're not too sure yet. We didn't bring our AC charger so we're checking that before we buy it fs. Radiator is definitely getting replaced. But we just want opinions, it was going for 5000, but they said they dropped it down to 4 because of the oil leak. We're thinking we might offer a little lower, just because some things do need touched up on. But it was a solid van, it was REALLY nice. The only options around us are rusted looking beaten to hell vans that we'd have to convert ourself. And it's great because we can semi live in it right off the bat while not being so much more expensive than the worse options. Which all are also over 200,000 miles. like an Astro, a express. Like 2-3 options in our area. So do y'all think it's worth it if you read this far? Pictures will be included. We don't want something to be a money pit ofc. Our main focus is preventative stuff like engine, transmission, radiator etc. Want to also mention that we have to drive the van to Maine, from Kentucky, so we do plan on getting oils changed, topping off all fluids, filling up tires, and getting it checked out to see about the oil leak and if a seal is broke or something. We won't have a home and apart of it is safety as we're both trans women and experience EXTREME discrimination. So to make money we have to move to Maine. Sorry for this long post, under a lot of stress and am getting some anxiety😅 PS: want to also add they were really nice people, we talked a lot about the van and what they knew was done with it, as they only had it a year due to not being able to actually pursue van life. submitted by GENsesh3 to VanLife [link] [comments] |

While at The Home Depot, I decided to switch it up a little bit and try a new air freshner. Instead of getting Fabreeze, I got Odor Ban Disinfectant Fabric & Air Freshner. Results: two thumbs down. I can't really judge how it works as a disinfectant, but as a fabric freshner, it sucks. I purchased the lemon scent edition, and I smell nothing. Switching back to Fabreeze.

Anyway, I live in California too, a state that I’m proud to call home and hopefully can live here the rest of my life too. Anyway, about me. I love to write poems, but people probably disagree with me that what I write isn’t really poetry. That’s understandable, people have different likes. The majority of what I write is dark/sad/somber, but I promise it’s not a reason to be concerned. I also write about love, hope, essentially all good feelings life has to offer.
I have an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts (Arts and Letters Emphasis) and a Certificate of Achievement in Communication Studies from Community College; and a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from the university level.
Long story short, I’ve never been in a relationship before. I focused on my well-being in the six years I spent in college and searched for my personal values and that of what I’d like to find in a woman I may consider being in a relationship with. My personal values now are kindness, empathy, understanding. These are the 3 important values I hope a woman I meet has too. At the end of the day, we’re all people trying to get by in life and succeed as we see right. We all deserve to experience love and happiness, don’t we? I think that we do. I hope to meet a woman that believes in this too. Ultimately, I have a lot of love to give to the right woman. 😌
If this matters, I’m…

-165 pounds and on skinny side
-Black hair and brown eyes
When sending me a message or chat, please introduce yourself and not just say “hello.” I’d like to learn a little about you. I hope to meet a woman that’s at least 21. And yes, I’m fine talking to older woman too.

2023.06.09 22:24 Due-Initial-2668 A recent history of UCSD's failures to punish s**ual misconduct: from sadistic frat brothers to creepy professors to racist incels
I already know this will be excessively long, but I feel strongly about the topic and have many thoughts I want to share in one post. I saw how strongly many felt about the recent situation and I think one silver lining is that it's starting a larger conversation about the punishment system here. So this is an essay covering the topic and I hope it will do justice to how much of a detriment to campus this is for women. There will be talk about the case with the professor and AK, but the main incidents I want to make light of are much worse, all of which happened under the current administration. Trigger warning: s**ual assault.
Potential Reasons
Lack of empathy at the top: Our chancellor has been sued for sabotaging a female executive’s career and had to settle for millions, he got sued by a former UCSD investigator because he fired him after he opened an investigation into the chancellor for engaging in inappropriate and illegal behaviour (ongoing case). He has been called a bully by former employees of UCSD, including multiple women. Khosla’s attitude towards women, willingness to shut down official investigations, and clear lack of empathy and morals make the situation at UCSD unsurprising. Additionally, in 2019 UCSD was accused of incompetence and lack of care in a whistleblower complaint. It alleged that UCSD had the worst protocols in human research he had ever seen and that they recklessly approved things without due process (which saves money). If the university was being cheap on human research of all things, it leads you to wonder what other processes they cut corners on. Who is to say they wouldn’t be cheap on the disciplinary process by giving students a slap on the wrist rather than putting resources into proper investigations?
Conservative with punishment due to 2015 lawsuit: In 2015 a UCSD student was suspended for over a year. A girl had accused him of s**ual assault at a campus event. The student was swiftly punished by the disciplinary board after a review of his case. The student sued UCSD for wrongful punishment, and a judge found that UCSD's board did not have sufficient evidence to support their decision. The judge also found that UCSD acted unfairly to the student during their process. This was the first case of its kind in California and no doubt shifted UCSD's disciplinary policies. It is safe to say that the disciplinary board has had lawsuits in mind since then.
Free speech and s**ual harassment in the Hoon Lee case: The s**ual assault and harassment guidelines at UCSD look pretty standard, but there is ambiguity when it comes to free speech. Lot of people on Reddit say UCSD can not punish words. This is contradicted by the case of Professor Hoon Lee. In early 2017, a student reported Hoon Lee to UCSD for s**ual comments that she felt pressured to engage in. A second student accused him of dr**ing her, tying her down, and kissing her. The investigator found that Hoon Lee had engaged in s**ual harassment due to creating a hostile environment with his comments in the first case, but cleared him of s**ual assault due to lack of evidence in the second case. So he got terminated due to his words. Side note: UCSD tried to cover this case up, but 2 student journalists broke it.
Incidents
Fraternities: UCSD Greek life at one point had a pretty tame reputation compared to other UCs as there is no fraternity row and parties are off campus. But at some point it would become well-known that a number of frats were frequently perpetrating and enabling s**ual assault. The dr**ing and a**aulting of girls became a part of our Greek life's reputation. For this reputation shift to happen, an abnormal increase must have taken place in incidents at multiple chapters. I wonder if UCSD's lack of investigating or substantive punishments had something to do with this increase? Most victims of these crimes do not report them for a number of reasons, but many did make reports during this time. They were largely ignored.
Sigma Chi: In 2019 UCSD finally launched an investigation into a single frat; Sigma Chi. It took multiple sorority girls stepping forward and a horror story of repeated dr**ing and a*use for this to happen. In a shocking miscarriage of justice, the people who committed the crimes would only have to admit to minor rule violations like underage drinking and distribution of alcohol to minors following a very short investigation and hearing. At least 4 of these men were accused of r***. Multiple Sigma Chi members would be allowed to run for IFC board positions a few months later. But what about the numerous other frats with terrible reputations and s**ual harassment complaints over the years? UCSD decided that the underage drinking charges they gave to Sigma Chi would send a message to the rest of the frats. It sent a message alright. Months after fraternities and sororities opened back up post-COVID, the sororities of UCSD severed ties with all fraternities until an agreement to stop committing s** crimes against them could be reached. It took just months for s**ual misconduct to get out of control. UCSD did nothing. You can see the progression of the Greek life issue go from bad to worse to shameful as administration failed to take significant action at each step.
Professor Christenfield: In 2004, a student reported this professor for making her uncomfortable by staring. In 2008 he was reported for dating a student, although nothing came of this as she was in a different faculty and according to UC rules that is allowed. Creepy, but no rules broken yet. In 2013 he was caught being intimate with a student in his office by two other students. He was one of the evaluators of the girl's grad school application and did not disclose this to UCSD during questioning. I have to imagine that given his past and the fact he was selling his academic influence for s**, this guy was done for. Except in 2014 UCSD announced that he will not be punished in any way. Why? Because his s**ual advances were rejected by the girl that day. So he unsuccessfully tried to use his authority to coerce a student into s** and then doesn't get punished because she refuses. Wow. But as part of an agreement with UCSD, next time he violates s**ual harassment policy, disciplinary charges will be filed against him. In 2017 he is reported again for s**ual harassment, but no investigation is made. For reasons beyond me, UCSD broke their own agreement to avoid taking disciplinary action against a predator. Finally in 2018 he is caught dead to rights when he emails a female student p*rn, which gets picked up by local media and causes concern. I truly believe UCSD wouldn’t have fired this guy if the situation was kept private as bad as that sounds. This professor should have been out the door in 2014, or at the very least 2017, but both times they let him go and ended up looking like idiots. This is a pattern.
AK: He did what he did, live streaming creepy s**ual remarks and touching a picture of a UCSD professor inappropriately. I originally thought there would be no punishment as he is covered by free speech as well as the fact that he never physically touched her. But after reading UCSD’s policy and the Hoon Lee case, I think he is in clear violation of the rules and would have been suspended if UCSD had a real system of punishment. AK’s case files under hostile environment within s**ual harassment. He meets the requirement of engaging in s**-based conduct (repeatedly commenting on her physical appearance and the seductive stroking of her photo). The second criteria he easily meets, he was pervasive in his misconduct as he did this in front of many people, some of whom saved the video and distributed it on social media. He meets the third requirement of interfering with a person’s participation in employment, his actions forced her to stay at home from campus for a day out of distress. The final criteria of creating an intimidating environment is another easy one to prove. The professor was so intimidated by his presence that she took out a restraining order on him and he was not allowed back in that classroom. But as is the story of UCSD, he is not punished for s**ual misconduct violations. He should have been punished a long time ago for repeated breach of rule 2c): acts of verbal and nonverbal aggression based on gender. While a student at UCSD, he has repeatedly said he wants to beat up brown women. How is that not verbal aggression? Just like the frat problem was ignored and got worse, just like how the psychology professor was let off the hook and got worse, this man will get worse over the next 2 years on campus. Will it take him actually harming a woman of color for UCSD to take action? Probably. And that is a major problem.
