2007 Honda Accord - Loose wire behind glovebox
2023.03.25 11:06 Eddance911 2007 Honda Accord - Loose wire behind glovebox
| Hi everyone. I have a 2007 Honda Accord (South African market). It's similar to the Accord Euro in the Australian & New Zealand markets. Despite looking like the Acura TSX, I think it's very similar to the US Accord underneath. Anyway, after the most recent service, I noticed a rattling / vibrating sound from behind the glovebox. When I released the glove box and looked behind it, I found a loose wire hanging. It leads upwards behind a steel beam. I just want to make sure it's nothing important (i.e. an airbag or grounding wire). There are no other dashboard lights or warning illuminated. Radio works fine, not that I listen enough to notice a problem anyway. Thanks in advance! submitted by Eddance911 to MechanicAdvice [link] [comments] |
2023.03.25 10:41 Connect_Tourist_6823 Buying my first car. Been reading about the importance on maintenance vs mileage.
Hello. I am looking for advice on buying a vehicle. I am interested in a Honda Accord. I wonder if vehicles from the year 2018 and after with 100k+ mileage is reliable. This car market is horrible, but I am in need of a vehicle.
I understand car prices are horrible but Would getting a Honda Accord with 100k be smart to buy knowing there may be maintenance needed later on?
I make sure I read the car fax service history and look for cars that were by owned by 1 person (maybe 2 at the most) and the maintenance history is giving Maintenance .
Thank you so much for those who answer and help.
P.S.
The spoiled side of me would really like a Honda Accord with Apple CarPlay. I am willing to be talked out of it!

2023.03.25 10:26 devils__haircut Just got a 1999 Honda Accord, what's it like?
My dad recently bought a new car and left his 2002 Mazda MPV to me and my mom. My mom then promptly sold it to her boyfriend in exchange for his 1999 Honda Accord. I have to clean all the shit he left in there out, which is probably gonna be one hell of a process.
But anyways, '99 Accord owners, what's it like? Boring as hell? Any recurring problems I should know about? Is it apocalyptically slow? Generally reliable? What's it like in the snow (I live in BC, it's raining a lot of the year but the winter months are generally pretty snowy). Tell me all about the pros and cons of it!

2023.03.25 09:48 morkienn first car for college student
Hello everyone, hope all of you are ok! I am a college student (22) and i will learn driving ( lets say get used to) with my first car. I was thinking Peugeot 208 (2021/2022), Honda civic 10th gen (the hatchback version and with 1.5l petrol engine) or golf mark 7 (if i find a clean one within my price range). Which one would be the best for me? Or do you have anything else to recommend? Thank you in advance!

2023.03.25 09:21 Jay_JWLH Help identifying parts for Honda Fit
| Honda Fit. 5-D Hatchback. Year 2005. CVT. I'm just looking for help identifying or confirming particular parts for my car that need replacing. I live in New Zealand but am happy to consider overseas shipping. https://preview.redd.it/0z5nu0uvgupa1.jpg?width=580&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6bdc3817017d4c41b0a849240c23449802a6d0a Part 1 GARN L RR DOOR RR PLR ( link) - I got the details off the part that has broken off (the clips have snapped), but looking at the link I think I have the right one for this. It is used to hold down a rubber strip towards the back of the vehicle (not shown on the diagram in the link). Part 2 Link. This one is a bit harder to confirm which is probably where I need some help. I think it is called a run channel. Basically the passenger side window has this rubber trim that when you close the windows it slots into. I can't push it back into place (it clips around the metal frame of the door but can't seem to hold into place anymore), and currently a whole section of it is hanging out which is preventing the window closing properly. submitted by Jay_JWLH to AskMechanics [link] [comments] |
2023.03.25 09:20 BadMon25 Thinking of trading in my Honda Accord for an LT Camaro, what are the drawbacks of Chevys?
Keep in mind I’ve been with Honda my whole life, where the most minimal amount of work is required to keep them going. I’m curious on the reliability of making a V8 an everyday vehicle

2023.03.25 07:53 MyNameIsMattYeah Why does the right light switch inside my car feel very warm when I touch it?
Geez...problems after problems after problems with my current car.
Let me summarize:
I own a 2007 Honda Accord. Several times in the past, when I would start driving my car, after it had been parked outside for a while in the cold weather here in Minnesota, the brake pedal would literally "freeze". It would not budge at all when I would push my foot against it. This would all happen while my car was still driving. I was so lucky that I did not hit any incoming cars on the road because this scenario has previously occurred with my car crossing intersections at red lights. Only after 3-5 attempts of trying to push down the brake pedal, did the brake pedal finally move down.
The most recent incident occurred a few days ago at my apartment parking lot. I left my car sitting outside in the cold weather here in Minnesota. A few hours later, I went outside, and I drove off in my car. Right away, my brake pedal was freezing again. After 2-5 attempts of the brake pedal not going down when pushing my foot against it, I turned my emergency brake on. Still, my car was not stopping. I then tried pressing my brake pedal again, and finally...It went down, and my car stopped. My emergency brake pedal started working again also. Since this was happening it my apartment parking lot, I was driving very slow...But, there were many cars around me, and I was lucky to not hit any of them.
I finally took my car to an auto shop. I had paid the mechanic to do a "full vehicle inspection" on my car, and I also told him about the issue with my brake pedal and emergency brake as well. A few days later, he told me that my car needed some major repairs, and that it would cost around $3500. We decided to have those repairs done.
When I went to pick up my car after the repairs were done, and I was driving out of the auto shop parking lot, I noticed that my brake pedal felt "loose". It definitely moved, that was not the issue this time...It was moving too much. I literally had to press the brake pedal all-the-way down to get my car to stop. Another issue I have been having with my car for quite some time now is...When I would drive my car, I would frequently hear a "squeaking" type noise coming from the underside of my car. Even after the repairs done by the mechanic, that problem was also not gone.
The next day, I brought my car back to the same auto shop. They rechecked my car, and then told me that one of the brake calibers was "faulty", and that was what was causing my brake pedal to feel loose. When they repaired my car the first time, they changed/fixed all of the calibers BESIDES for one of them because at that time it didn't seem to be a problem. However, after re-examining my car, they now see that one untouched caliber needed to be fixed. It was going to cost another $560. They said doing this repair would fix the "loose" feeling brake pedal. In regard to the squeaky noise coming from my car when driving, they said: "We don't know what's causing that squeaky nose, but we want to fix "one thing at a time and the first thing to fix is that one brake caliber".
Things seemed sketchy to me and my stepdad. We told the mechanic that we "needed some time to think about it". He gave us back my car, and I brought my car to another auto shop mechanic (which I will refer to as "auto mechanic #2"), explained what was happening, and he stated that he would do his own inspection to determine why my brake pedal was feeling loose and what was causing the squeaky noise.
The next day, auto mechanic #2 called us back. He stated that he did a thorough inspection of the car, and that my brakes were completely fine. There were no problems with any of the brake calibers, even though the first auto mechanic stated that one of them still needed to be fixed.
However, auto mechanic #2 stated that he found some other major problem with my car or its engine, and that some repairs would need to be done. It would cost $1500. My stepdad and I stated that was fine, so mechanic #2 did the repairs.
I just got my car back tonight. The brake pedal is still feeling "loose", even though auto mechanic #2 stated that all of the brake calibers were fine and that nothing was wrong with my brakes.
However, there is a new problem that I am now finding out. When I touch the right light switch to turn the light on inside my car, the light switch feels very warm. I have never experienced this before.
My question for you: Why does my car's right light switch feel very warm when I touch it?

2023.03.25 07:48 cypherdust 11th gen Accord petition?
Can we simply ask Honda to scrap the 11th gen for 2024 and go back to the old production lines of the 10th gen? The 11th really are hideous from a design perspective. As many people have noted, it seems Honda wanted to cut costs in response to the pandemic and increase their profit per sale. Getting ride of the chrome accents and changing the front end into a Ford Taurus has me fuming.
They made this car less angular and more into a blob. Even the headrests now look uglier. You all went too far with the Lobster Claw complaints on the taillights. When Honda identifies criticism, it means they get a free pass to change a perfect car. Just when it seemed like Honda was getting back to it's groove, they regressed back into 2005-2015 Honda.
When a car is as perfect as the 10th gen, you don't change it after 5 years. Give it like 3 more years. Even the Camry is going for a sixth year.
The 10th gen Accord was a hidden luxury car that felt more like an Acura than a Honda, and that's saying something. Stop letting American Honda workers design these cars or you will get a Ford Taurus.
I'm down to start a petition on change.org with enough upvotes.

2023.03.25 05:00 Anglicanpolitics123 Today was the feast day of Archbishop Oscar Romero. The assassinated bishop and saint of El Salvador. These are quotations from his prophetic speeches and letters condemning the Latin American death squads of his country and also criticising President Jimmy Carter for inconsistency on human rights.
I've posted about Archbishop Romero several times and I'll do it again because if there was ever a man in our modern times who deserved the title and canonisation of the term "saint" it was him. Archbishop from 1977 to 1980 he was the head of the El Salvadorean Catholic Church at a time when there was a military dictatorship propped up by CIA trained death squads that caused the deaths of 75,000 people. This included innocent men, women and children including infants who were hacked to death in extermination campaigns launched by the dictatorship. He also lived at a time of vast economic inequality in his nation. Inspired by the example of his best friend, Fr Rutilio Grande who stood up for the poor and died, he would stand up for the poor and human rights too. This would lead to clashes with the military dictatorship of his country as well as the expansion of his voice through radio broadcast which was listened to by the poor, the peasant and indigenous populations of both El Salvador and Central America. Because of this the regime sought to bomb his radio stations, which he built back up again. Then they imprisoned him and placed him in solitary confinement. And he kept preached after he was released. Then they took over his Church and turned it into a military barracks to silence him. And through civil disobedience backed by the poor, peasant, mestizo and indigenous peoples he seized back control of the Cathedral even with the army's bullets pointed to him. Then finally when he preached his last sermon while doing mass, he was assassinated in 1980.
Jimmy Carter was the president of the United States at the same time Oscar Romero was Archbishop(1977-1981). He came in promising as one of his election campaigns to change the United States government's policy on human rights. Previous government's of Richard Nixon, Ford and Kissinger as their advisor backed a wave of repressive regimes that repressed human rights in Latin America and the developing world for Cold War purposes. Carter came in promising to prioritise human rights. Just like Oscar Romero he spoke about human rights as being something important. Unlike Romero however he was not consistent. On some issues, such as Chile, Argentina and Guatemala he cut military support for repressive regimes that engaged in murder and torture. However in other instances he continued the Cold War policy of strategic interests such as continuing the Ford-Kissinger policy of backing the Indonesian military's genocidal occupation of East Timor that resulted in the extermination of 200,000 people through an increase of military assistance. When human rights groups, including prominent clergy in the Catholic Church as well as Catholic relief services sought to give reports of what was going on on the ground to Congress, the Carter Administration produced reports either minimising the extent of the crimes and in many cases openly covering for the Indonesian government and stonewalling human rights activists. Carter would do the same thing in El Salvador. His administration continued arms sales to the regime for Cold War purposes and because of the election of 1980 to prove he was being "tough communism" against domestic criticisms. Romero would be assassinated that year and the arms sales continued. It would take the murder of 4 American nuns who's bodies where thrown in a mass grave for Carter to finally suspend arms sales. But that suspension would only last for a month. Because the last thing his administration does in the final weeks of January 1981 is resume those arm sales, which where then increased by President Reagan. These quotes below firstly show Romero's prophetic defense of human rights against the repressive leaders. It secondly shows a contrast between someone who lives and dies for human rights consistently and someone who inconsistently supports human rights depending on the politics. To use a Biblical reference we kind of see a David and Nathan moment here. Here are some of the quotes:
"I'd like to make a special appeal to the men in the army. Brothers, each one of you is one of us. We are the same people. The farmers and peasants that you kill are your own brothers and sisters. When you hear the words of a man telling you to kill, think instead of the words of God. Thou shalt not kill. No soldier is obliged to obey an order contrary to the law of God. In his name, and in the name of our tormented people, who have suffered so much and who's laments cry out to heaven. I implore you. I beg you. I order you. Stop....the repression!"(1980 speech before assassination)
"The omnipotence of these national security regimes, the total disrespect they display towards individuals and their rights, the total lack of ethical consideration shown in the means that are used to achieve their ends, turn national security into an idol, which, like the god Molech, demands the daily sacrifice of many victims in its name. The legitimate security that the state ought to seek for its members is cruelly perverted, for in the name of national security the insecurity of the individual becomes institutionalized"(Fourth Pastoral Letter)
"Because you are a Christian and because you have shown that you want to defend human rights, I venture to set forth for you my pastoral point of view concerning this news and to make a request. I am very worried by the news that the government of the United States is studying a form of abetting the arming of EI Salvador by sending military teams and advisors to "train three Salvadoran batallions in logistics, communications and intelligence." If this information from the newspapers is correct, the contribution of your government, instead of promoting greater justice and peace in EI Salvador, will without doubt sharpen the injustice and repression against the organizations of the people who repeatedly have been struggling to gain respect for their most fundamental human rights."(1980 Letter to President Carter)
"If it is true that last November "a group of six Americans were in El Salvador...providing$200,000 in gasmasks and flak jackets and instructing about their use against demonstrators," you yourself should be informed that it is evident since then that the security forces, with better personal protection and efficiency, have repressed the people even more violently using lethal weapons. For this reason, given that as a Salvadoran and as archbishop of the Archdiocese of San Salvador I have an obligation to see that faith and justice reign in my country, I ask you, if you truly want to defend human rights, to prohibit the giving of this military aid to the Salvadoran government Guarantee that your government will not intervene directly or indirectly with military, economic, diplomatic or other pressures to determine the destiny of the Salvadoran people."(1980 Letter to President Carter)
"It would be unjust and deplorable if the intrusion of foreign powers were to frustrate the Salvadoran people, were to repress them and block their autonomous decisions about the economic and political path that our country ought to follow. It would violate a right which we Latin American bishops meeting in Puebla publicly recognized when we said: "The legitimate self-determination of our people that permits them to organize according to their own genius and the march of their history and to cooperate in a new international order." I hope that your religious sentiments and your feelings for the defense of human rights will move you to accept my petition, avoiding by this action worse bloodshed in this suffering country."(1980 Letter to President Carter)

2023.03.25 04:52 Anglicanpolitics123 Today was the feast day of Archbishop Oscar Romero.
2023.03.25 02:21 hlyfckitsyu Odor coming from car? - 2006 Honda Accord
2006 Honda Accord with more than 150k miles.
Went to the gas station after driving through a town with bumpy roads. When I get out there’s a smoky odor but I assumed it was someone having a camp out. Lingered a bit but went away until I got home and I smelled it again but more faint. A kind of “dripping” or “ticking” noise can be heard in the car.
Checked beneath the car and it’s not leaking, did my best in the dark to check the muffler and it seemed fine as well.
I took it on one more drive in a circle that required going up and down hilly roads. Got back and the particular smell or sound wasn’t there anymore.
Car has been squeaking when turning but not braking. It’s been I couple months since I noticed this. Drives well besides this.

2023.03.25 02:00 CaptainGiggity Should I Switch to a GTI?
Context, I owned an mk6 autobahn, moved to a Focus ST, and unfortunately am currently in a Honda Accord 2.0 Sport due to financial reasons.
But good news everyone!!
I have numerous vw dealerships (connected with honda) That are willing to not only buy out my leased Honda but also get me about $4k back in my pocket, which I want to use to get a GTI.
As much as I read about the new GTI being amazing, I want to hear what your experiences (good or bad) are. Does it drive as well? Is the infotainment system really that bad? What made you get one?

2023.03.25 01:27 Sniper_Snippet Brand New 2023 Honda Accord EX
Just bought a brand new 2023 Honda Accord EX w/o the BSI. It’s an amazing vehicle, not many like the exterior, but I love it. I love the interior a lot more though, Honda did a great job with it. The price is a bit excessive in my opinion, but I buy Honda for reliability, so it always saves me more money in the long run. Still trying to learn some of the new features there seems to be a few hidden gems, but the car is amazing!

2023.03.25 00:20 Seekster1988 I think my speakers are possessed
I have a 2017 Honda Accord. I bought the car new from the dealership and it still has its original speakers. I am not sure what exactly is wrong with my speakers but in late February they started to play static and high pitched beeps at random intervals. The volume of this noise increases and then decreases over a span of about 5 to 10 minutes.
As you can see in the video, this can happen even when the audio system is turned off. I should also note that the speakers can and do play music and radio without static at times but randomly the following will play:

2023.03.24 23:56 Kierounjelo 2013 Accord Coupe HFP or 2016 Civic Coupe Ex-l
This post may belong on another sub, but since they’re both Hondas I’m asking here. As the title suggests I need help choosing between a 2013 Accord v6 (82k miles) with the HFP package and a 2016 Civic Coupe Ex-l (69k miles). Both are around the same price and I’d be financing a part of the cost.
What I’m asking for are good or bad experiences with either vehicle that may convince me which to choose. Thanks in advance!
