I'm honestly going to provide some genuine and insightful counterarguments to the people that keep saying and criticizing that the Dead Space Remake is "woke" because it's honestly frustrating.
Let's lay the groundwork first. This will only discuss the minute details of the game that people claim that are woke. There is mostly no relation to gameplay or any mechanic within this post.
So, what's the dead space setting, context, and universe all about? Because it's important when and where the setting is all about when it comes to this topic
Well, Dead Space is set in the 25th century, an advanced, futuristic, but still industrialized setting. The Earth's resources have dwindled, the population is rising, and colonies are being built in order to sustain more life. The main hope for gathering resources for the humans is planet cracking, which is the process of cracking an entire planet to mine for its resources. The CEC (Concordance Extraction Corporation) is is a public trading company at the forefront of the deep space mining industry. They are the largest solar mining and extraction company in the Earth colonies and the fifth largest company in terms of market capital. (Dead Space Wiki). There is also the Church of Unitology, but we already know that here in the subreddit.
So what does this all mean within the context of a game set in the 25th century?

• It still mirrors our current day society, albeit being a much more advanced one.
  
• Different races and genders have already been spread out not only in Earth, but it's many colonies, space craft, and space ships. This means that it's common to see different races and genders within the universe.
  
• Capitalism is still relevant because of the demand for more planetary resources.
  
• Corrupt corporations still exist.
  
• The Church of Unitology is a mirror of real life cults.
  

So let's start with the arguments:

1. The All Gender Bathroom.

It makes sense within the context and universe of the game that a space ship with such limited space within it will have such a bathroom to accommodate everyone that's working within it. Plus, the CEC, the corrupt corporation that owns the Ishimura would have done this anyway to cut costs and show to the public that they are an all inclusive corporation willing to hire anyone, no matter the gender.
Furthermore, in real life, all gender or unisex bathrooms exist within military ships, restaurants, homes, apartments, and obviously public spaces.
Furthermore, the movies Alien and Aliens (which contributed as inspirations to Dead Space) as well as Starship Troopers, have all gender or unisex bathrooms within their respective universes. Keep in mind that these movies were released during the 80s and 90s, which already proves that these bathrooms are normal.

1. The Race swapped posters.

First of all, I can understand the argument that it is kind of a lazy reskin of the older posters, but that's only a nitpick for some.
However, the posters still do make sense within the context and universe of the game. It proves that the corrupt CEC is willing to make these kinds of advertisements and propaganda to show that once again, they are an inclusive corporation that is willing to hire anyone despite their race. It's a mirror to what real life corporations do. Advertising that their work force is a diverse group of people to pander, attract and tokenise other races into working for them. Like real life companies.

1. The "Capitalism" writing on the wall.

Again, it fits the context of the game. A capitalist organization that obviously isn't treating its workers right in order to be more profitable. Plus, it was already in the original game.

1. The Johnston Race and gender Swap

Yes, they could have easily just made Johnston the same way he was in the original, but honestly, who cares about a guy that barely has any character and dies within the first 10-15 minutes of the game. At least they made the new Johnston have at least more dialogue and interaction with Isaac and the crew.

1. They are "Uglyfying Women"

No, Nicole and Kendra weren't uglified, they were only modeled after their real life models, that's why they look like that.
Furthermore, Nicole is a SENIOR medical officer, an already taxing Job known to everyone and added with the fact that she is in a stressed situation that honestly drains her. She doesn't have time for makeup.
Kendra isn't flat, her jacket was just covering her breasts. Look at a model without her jacket and tell me she's still flat.
Also, it's off that people criticize Nicole in the remake looking much older, but fail to notice Nicole in Dead Space 2, which looks older as well.
Any criticism about them being ugly is honestly disingenuous and completely subjective on the person looking at them.

1. Kendra is a Lesbian

No, she was just joking and putting herself on Isaac's shoes in order to ignore the bickering Hammond was spouting. Not once did she ever state she was a Lesbian nor the game has either.

Well, you see, this isn't a remaster of the original 2008 game, it's a remake. It's not just a fresh coat of graphics.
This Remake has more than that. New side quests, dialogue, and improved gameplay and mechanics. The game still stays true to the original while adding or changing some different things.
The developers have the choice of not changing anything from the original, even the minor things like the bathrooms and posters. It's up to them, not us, to add or change some things.
The same with the Resident Evil 2 Remake. The developers added and changed aspects within the game in order to fit a much more modern and contemporary gameplay for the audience.
Furthermore, as I keep saying, the changes made still fit the context of the game.
So that's basically all the common arguments I keep finding from the internet. I hope that I at least laid out an acceptable counterargument for all of you that keep claiming this game is woke.

So I alluding to this idea here but didn't get any takers. In thinking about it some other things came together though so let me try again. I haven't see all this in one place yet so pardon me if I'm treading old ground but hold on to your tinfoil hats...
The idea is this.. what if the world nobles have a lineage factor that some, if not all, can utilise to become as powerful as God's. Something like a hyper-expression of Haki, there are points to back this up. This potential for power is most notable in the families of the Gorosei and in particular the royal family with Im.
I've seen before discussions about why the nobles have so much power in a world of super beings and the most simple solution is just that they are even more super. There is evidence of other lineages, notably the Lunarians, for whom great power is basically a given. (It is also strong motivation for why the nobles had the Lunarians wiped out because they had a power to rival the king and their elders)
There have also been discussions about why someone like Shanks would GIVE (not lose) hid arm for someone like a young Luffy. What if his extension of Haki was so great that he could, in that moment, see a number of paths through the future and chose the one that lead to Luffy taking out the world nobles (or something, his motivations are still not clear). This is something like a brief "Morty with a death crystal" still gamble on the future. Furthermore, we've seen that not only does Shanks have a power of Haki that is so great it can take out Kidd and his crew in one go, but he is also using that power to protect the weakest fleet in the New World.
Which leads to the final idea and one that I badly phrased as Sturmhonding. What if Shanks is not only has the lineage factor available to the Nobles.. but is of the royal family itself. Something like a younger brother to Im, so a spare to the throne. Instead of joining them, he decided at a young age to run away and become a man of thr people. We know that he has a strong enough relationship with the Gorosei to get him an audience without any qualms. Who but a noble or royal could do that? And of course the is the question of the hat that has a relationship to Im and was given to Luffy by Shanks himself.
Well I think that's the main gist of it. There are some small ideas I have but this is the spine of the theory. What do you think?

I have recently read about the origins of Yahweh, our God. I found out that he was originally a deity in a Canaanite pantheon. He had a consort named Asherah and was subject to El, the head of the pantheon and his father.
Yahweh was also a god of storms originally, and with time the worship of other gods such as Baal became forbidden and then even their existence was outright denied. He was then fused with El and became synonymous with him.
This just makes God seem as a cutout from a typical mythological pantheon and merely elevated by humans to a creator god level. This is making me lose my faith. What do you guys think?

I am from southern austria, particularly a medium sized town called Sankt Veit an der Glan (literally translates to "Saint Vitus at the Glan", the Glan being the local river) with about 12,000 people in it. The city center is made up of two plazas which primarily two-to-three story buildings located on it that usually have stores on the bottom and flats or offices above them. Good arrangement and the area is only for pedestrians.
Several years ago I moved to the next biggest city Klagenfurt (100,000 people) as it was closer to my workplace. This also allowed me to give up my car and commute either by bike or the local bus service which is very good.
Yesterday however I returned to my hometown to visit family and for the first time in a while I walked through the two plazas as I was trying to find a store to buy some headphones. I was completely aghast as about 40% of the storefronts were empty, including some very long established businesses.
As my mother would tell me some of this is because some of the owners went into retirement and couldn't find a new owner, but I think that is a domino further down the line.
You see, about 25 years ago the city allowed one of the big retail chains to build a big market on the outskirts of town, including an enormous parking lot. The building also had space for some other businesses as well. However, over the years more buildings were put up in the area, single story for commercial use only, becoming a large strip mall. And that in my opinion has slowly and steadily drained the commerce out of the city center.
And of course, my hometown doesn't have a public transport system. I don't really blame it for that as it isn't really large enough. However, due to this shift in the commercial enterprises, it also thoroughly makes everyone dependent on a car. Whereas before you could walk the two big Plazas as well as some of the adjacenet roads that also had stores, insurance agents, travel agents etc. in them, something the town used to market itself as "Einkaufsstadt" (shopping city), you now basically have to take your own car out to the giant strip mall for most things.
Yeah, things aren't looking too good. The town basically enabled car dominance and signed its own death warrant.

Heinz has the day off so he decided to take me on an early morning tour of the sites they have been prospecting for the project. Some were open, some were not but we were able at least to walk around. There’s a news blackout on the project so I can’t give details. But everything is exciting!

When looking online, you'll find guidelines to what a good shampoo should and shouldn't have, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY. A good shampoo apparently shouldn't have: sulfates, formaldehyde, parabens, hexachlorophene, phthalates or silicon. How are you supposed to find a shampoo with none of those things? Does a shampoo that actually follow all those guidelines, while still being effective, exist? I'm sorry if this post comes off as ignorant, but I'm kind of new here. I'd love any recommendations for shampoo as well though. Right now I'm just using whatever shampoo I see first at the grocery store.

1.: Media reporting standards are not the same**
India's media reports things differently from media in other parts of the world. Media reports in various parts of the world have themes. American media focus a lot on race issues. Middle East media focuses a lot on sectarian issues. Indian media focuses a lot on gender issues. It would be faulty to not recognize the themes and blindly use media as a barometer.
Crimes get a disproportionate share of India's media reporting. Top news sources in the US, don't report rapes in the way India does. For instance, 25 women in the US were raped/assaulted in the time I took to write this comment (about 30 mins). You wouldn't likely read about any of these 25 cases in the media.
When a woman was sexually assaulted in an Uber taxi in Delhi, it became a major news and the government quickly reacted. But, such crimes involving Uber is fairly routine in the US.

In the US and Europe, such rape stories would come in local media and just move out of national attention. You probably didn't even come across it. US local governments didn't pursue Uber with the same vigor. Indian media selectively picks up a case and rallies around that. This creates a distorted reality.
The sad truth is that it is not India vs. US. It is that women get raped and it doesn't become a big news. See this as a global problem.
2.Second fact: India's rape rate is not the highest in the world. Not even close
According to the 2010 UN data on rape, the rapes per 100,000 people in India is 0.4 and 27.3 in USA. Going by these statistics, rape rate in USA is a whopping 6825% of India, so much for the "rape culture" in India.

If you don't like the statistics, construct better ones. Figure out what factor you want to measure that is not covered in the reports from world bodies. Construct scientifically accepted surveys. Get to the root of the problem with logic. Use your stuff between the ears, instead of passing judgements with hot gas.

Now I know the next thing you'll say is that rapes are under reported in India and it's true, but the matter of fact is that rapes are under reported everywhere in the world, including USA. More than 70% of rapes go under reported in USA.

Now for the sake of argument, let's give you the benefit of doubt and assume that only 5% of the rapes in India are reported and 95% cases go unreported. Also assume that 100% of rapes in USA are reported.
By that logic, the real rape rate in India will be 0.4 x 20 = 8. Now let us go further and double that too, we get 8 x 2 = 16, which is still way less than 27.3 (the rape rate in USA).
Therefore, even if you multiply the rape rate of India by 40, it still doesn't matches USA. This proves that India is a much safer country for women compared to USA.
In cultures across the world, rape carries a stigma. Because, most of the rapes happen with people who are close to the woman. Thus, there is a strong social pressure against reporting. This basic fact is lost on the many who are giving their uneducated comments on the issue.
The number of recorded rapes in India is certainly a substantial underestimate, but even if we take five times—or ten times—that figure, the corrected and enlarged estimates of rapes would still be substantially lower in India than in the US, the UK, Sweden, or South Africa (even with the assumption that there is no underreporting in these other countries).

Poor India, a developing nation with countless challenges, managed an impressive 24.2% conviction rate in 2012. That’s thanks to the efforts of a lot of good people — police, lawyers, victims and their families — working heroically with limited resources.

So keeping my partner from knowing he has DID didn't last long... I was upset over the whole situation and kept crying. I told him he asked me not to tell him what is going on. When I was asleep he looked through old Marco Polo videos for three hours until he found one where I mentioned DID. He looked it up on Wiki and asked his psychiatrist about it, in which the reply was, "I have told you three times you have DID." That didn't even last three days.... My partner is a clever little devil. So far he is not freaking out, but he is starting to have some of the same issues from before. We are hoping to head off things more by troubleshooting ahead of time now that we know the sticking issues. He isn't allowed in the inner world for a while because he was abusive there. But he said he isn't interested in going there. I suggested a meeting room outside of the inner world but he doesn't want to meet them yet. Because his trauma memories were wiped he is the most functional I have ever seen him and his mood is very stable. He is enjoying this and a greater ability to focus and be more goal oriented. He wants to concentrate on improving himself and building self confidence. He started a bullet journal and is getting really into that. He has ADHD and Autism and needs systems of accountability. Visual aids really help him and making charts. Unfortunately his memory of having schzoaffective disorder was also wiped, so he is much more scared of his hallucinations. I will be talking with the gatekeeper tomorrow and will ask for that to be reversed if all think it would benefit him. He just found out he will be going on a long acting injectable antipsychotic medication, which he can get a much higher dose from. He also hates taking pills so I hope this helps him. I also hope the hallucinations and other psychosis related symptoms are reduced. We are just taking everything at a slower pace. And trying not to overwhelm him. Eventually the trauma memories will trickle back in, but we are hoping to resource him so he can cope better. Like learn and practice grounding techniques etc. I am still trying to convince everyone they need DID therapy and to remember the trauma and process it. Everyone seems to want to avoid that... But healing won't come without it.... I also want my partner to communicate with the others directly... They are going to use a cork board for now. I don't know when he will want to do the meeting room idea... Guess we will play it by ear.. and see what happens....

Ignoring the fact that i have health conservation & parrying skill issues that i have to brute force through 5BC via Blood Sword build + open wound + blood drinker aspect (which was too good), i got toasted the moment i entered the lab.
The flying book guy alone hurts me a lot and persists on staying above me which make me helpless against them, and the jetpacker ended my life miserably as i cannot consistently dodge them.
I know the wiki exists but i dont want to potentially encounter spoiler there (although i can kind of guess a few stuff based on the absent of a certain guy)
Any general tips for Astrolab? I havent even encountered all enemies there outside those mentioned, the failed experiment and the protector holding guy. Does the biome have any particular mechanic that i should be careful of? If theres any spoiler yall can vaguely imply them so i can prepare for them?
