Hear me out on my theory; I think Don and Oswald might have met before (Warning, Long Read! I'm Ranting!)
2023.03.25 11:08 Nestrus Hear me out on my theory; I think Don and Oswald might have met before (Warning, Long Read! I'm Ranting!)
I'm going off of what I know based on having played all three games and having read all three PM novel things (Wonderlab, DD, and Leviathan). I haven't read Don Quixote, so there may be story details incorporated that would make it so I wouldn't know how it'd turn out. The basis of this theory goes off of the only other time we've hear knights mentioned in the PM universe, considering Don didn't have a visceral reaction to the N. Corp inquisitors. They were lines said by Sen in The W. Corp Cleanup Crew chapter in Library of Ruina. As they were entering the library, he was telling Lesti about how a kingdom with knights was one of the outcomes of time spent in the Warp train. I first thought up this theory when looking at the art on Don's ego, La Sangre de Sancho. The trauma in the background, a merry-go-round with people instead of horses, had lights and a blue-grey that reminded me of a Warp train. Then I began thinking about ways that Don could be related to a Warp train experience. First, it's important to note she has a Warp Cleanup Crew identity, which doesn't seem as important as it would be to Faust. Next, Don's ego is called La Sangre de Sancho and the weapon she uses looks like it's made of blood (sangre), which makes sense considering liquid's strange physics on one of the trains. It could literally be a weapon made of Sancho's blood (they could be someone of importance to Don). I considered how a merry-go-round is fun because it goes around in a loop for a long time, which could be reminiscent of how time feels on a Warp train (looped for a long time, not fun). The horses on the merry-go-round in the trauma have been replaced with people, which brings me into the Oswald connection. The people in the image of the trauma are in the place where horses are ridden. The skeleton of a horse is seen as a shadow in Don's ego art. If she were riding on a horse, the only way she could have one in a Warp train is if it were made of the passengers. We know PM would get this gruesome because the last time we saw people combined to make animals was with the fight of the 8 O'Clock Circus in Urban Nightmare, made by Oswald. This connection makes sense to me because of Don's promotional art having a circus/carnival in the background, looking at the merry-go-round and the ferris wheel. Seeing as we don't know his backstory and how his semi-distorted form is that of a jester, which falls in line perfectly the kingdom theme, I think if they met, it would mean he made the horse that Don might've rode on in the train. It makes sense for him to want to distort into something that makes people happy in a place as desperately depressing as a Warp train. Since he can manipulate flesh in strange ways, he also could've made the weapon that Don uses as her ego. The theory about her backstory being W. Corp based also makes sense considering the order and possible setting of where her chapter would be. Her's is 7th, after Yi Sang, Ishmael, and Heathcliff. From where we are in District K as of Chapter 3, it would make the most sense for Yi Sang's chapter to be in District L, as it is the origin of the light and how the light's manipulation properties coincide with how the boughs work and how Mirror Identities are pulled and made manifest from reflections within people's possible universes. From District L, Ishmael's chapter, with her backstory being very water-based, would make the most sense taking place in District U, with it's border with the Southern Sea. That would mean Heathcliff's chapter takes place in either District V or T. If it's T, then the theory's disproven and I can't predict anything about the future, considering we know nothing about District S, the next district over. If it's District V however, that can make sense with V's small border to the Southern Sea and the rain/body of water shown in Heathcliff's promotional art and ego art. Therefore, after District V, Don's chapter would either take place in District M or W. I don't know enough about District M to be able to formulate whether her chapter would be there, but if it's in W, then my theory no doubt in my mind becomes true. A minor detail I think also alludes to the theory is that in the art for La Sangre De Sancho, Don's playing with two figures and making them fight, one red and one blue. If she were to live in a Warp train, she would no doubt be covered in blood, which could coincide with the red figure. If that were the case, the blue figure would represent a Warp Cleanup Crew member. The only two details that throw me off are the art's language messages and the possibility. I don't know what the Korean and Chinese mean in the art and would appreciate a translation at some point. I also don't know how she or Oswald would get from being in a Warp train to being outside with the past experience. My theory is that they for some reason couldn't be killed in the train, so they were detained, as she is shown in her ego's art. They both have J Corp seals placed in their minds about the train, Oswald escapes, and the deal Vergilius mentions in Chapter 3 is alluding to a deal he made to get Don out of W. Corporation's custody. She wouldn't want it mentioned considering she may not remember the train, but she may remember killing the people in it, which would allude to the impaled people and blue-grey hue in her trauma in the ego picture. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I'm sorry it went on for so long, but I felt some of the details were necessary to connect Don's possible past and our silliest clown. If you disagree, tell me why you do, I'd like to know about how the book she comes from ties back to her and her past. If you agree with my theory, thank you! Spread this around and see if you can get some feedback on it!

2023.03.25 10:46 hippyhippo_ 0/10 Acceptances and moving on
Initially disappointed this application season but I think we all have the ability to thrive any where as long as you want to. Looking towards cc path right now (unless I get off waitlists) and hoping that will give me more time working with my dad for some side projects since he just retired.
If you are on this subreddit comparing yourself with others with the same college, just don't, won't help your mental either way. You all can do it no matter where you end up! (Maybe not but just believing you will is the first step)
Imma leave this subreddit and maybe come back in 2y for transfer apps. Best of Luck All! <3

2023.03.25 07:17 evlyr Analysis of r/BoysPlanet's 6-to-1 pick survey results
| This post includes several analyses of the BoysPlanet 6-pick and 1-pick voting results from the Episode 7 survey (472 responses) by u/Zypker125. Predicting Final 1-Pick results based on BoysPlanet Voting Trends *Huge disclaimer: This prediction makes two large assumptions because of a lack of more detailed survey data: - That BoysPlanet 6-pick to 1-pick trends reflect the trends of all G voters.
- That Korean voters don't change voting patterns at all from 6-to-1 pick.
With these assumptions in place, Jay becomes a surprisingly strong contender, possibly replacing Kim Gyuvin in the Top 9: - Sung Hanbin (-)
- Zhang Hao (-)
- Seok Matthew (+1 rank from Ep 8)
- Kim Jiwoong (+1 rank from Ep 8)
- Jay (+7 rank from Ep 8)
- Han Yujin (-3 rank from Ep 8)
- Kim Taerae (+1 rank from Ep 8)
- Park Gunwook (+1 rank from Ep 8)
- Keita (-1 rank from Ep 8)
Trainees ordered by predicted 1-pick rank Here's the Predicted Points in Bar Graph form to better visualize the relative scales. Ranks 9/10/11 are a toss-up between Keita, Kim Gyuvin, and Lee Hoetaek. Predicted Points for final 1-Pick Voting Methodology: - Each trainee's "1-Pick Power" was computed as (# of 1-Pick votes/# of 6-Pick votes) based on the BoysPlanet Episode 7 survey. Note: Trainees with no 1-pick votes got a 1-Pick vote value of 0.1 just so that they wouldn't have 0 Predicted G votes.
- This "1-Pick Power" percentage was multiplied with Episode 8's Global votes to determine the Predicted 1-Pick Global Votes, which was combined with Episode 8's Korean votes to come up with the Predicted Points.
Additional Stats for Fun Top 9 based on BoysPlanet's 6-pick votes If BoysPlanet picked the final group with 6-pick voting, then compared to Episode 8 rankings: - New in Top 9: Jay, Haruto, Park Hanbin
- Out of Top 9: Kim Taerae, Kim Gyuvin, Han Yujin.
Trainees ordered by Reddit 6-Pick votes Top 9 based on BoysPlanet's 1-pick votes If BoysPlanet picked the final group with 1-pick voting, then compared to Episode 8 rankings: - New in Top 9: Jay, Kim Jongwoo, Park Hanbin
- Out of Top 9: Kim Taerae, Han Yujin, Kim Gyuvin
Trainees ordered by Reddit 1-Pick votes Trainees sorted by BoysPlanet's 1-Pick Power 1-Pick Power is calculated as (# of 1-Pick votes/# of 6-Pick votes). Some interesting results: - Jay has the highest 1-Pick Power on this subreddit, with 40% of his 6-pick votes carrying over in the 1-pick voting.
- Keita has rather low 1-Pick Power on this subreddit (15%) despite being #2 in the subreddit's 6-Pick voting.
Trainees ordered by Reddit 1-Pick Power How representative is BoysPlanet of G voters anyway? BoysPlanet 6-pick voting is more representative of Global 6-pick voting (shown below) compared to Korean 6-pick voting (not shown), but there are still some trainees who are substantially more/less popular on this Subreddit vs. Global fans overall. Clearly we have a lot of Zhang Hao fans on this Reddit: Trainees ranked by more-to-less relative popularity among Reddit fans vs G fans overall submitted by evlyr to BoysPlanet [link] [comments] |

2023.03.25 04:27 mochimmy3 Help me choose: Boston U vs. U of Virginia
Hello! I wanted some outside opinions on whether I should choose BU or UVA. I’ve been asking people I know irl, but most choose based on the locations rather than the schools themselves. So I thought getting opinions from fellow applicants/premeds/med students would help.
Here’s a short list of my thoughts so far:
UVA pros: •Slightly closer to home (7-9hr drive) •I would do clinicals at the Inova campus near DC (I like working/living in cities) •Cheaper cost of living •Great reputation in the south (I’m a GA resident and will likely return to GA) •Already toured the campus and I like the lecture halls
UVA cons: •I will have to move after 18 months to go to Inova for clinicals •Housing options are more limited and will be a 10-20min walk
Boston pros: •I like the social justice mission of the school and I’m interested in health equity •They offered me a 10k/year merit scholarship •Haven’t visited yet (I’m going in 2 weeks) but I like living in cities and I’d like to try living up north since I’ve lived in the south my whole life •Plenty of housing options within a 5min walk to the school •I have aunts, uncles, and cousins who live in Boston
Boston cons: •More expensive cost of living •Further away which my parents don’t like •My parents are worried that I won’t be safe in that part of the city •They just recently changed their curriculum
I haven’t received financial aid offers from either school yet and UVA hasn’t released merit scholarships yet but I informed them of my other scholarship and they said they couldn’t guarantee they’d be able to match it since “funding is limited and award amounts are modest.”
Without financial aid, the total costs of attendance for 1 year are ~87k UVA, ~95k Boston - 10k merit scholarship = 85k. Obviously, how much financial aid they each offer will play a big role in my decision.

2023.03.25 03:47 Scoobydddddddd Dr. Michael Yeadon: "I conclude that these injections have been designed with the deliberate intention of causing injury, maiming some & killing others."
Dr. Yeadon commented on
this substack about hospital admissions in New Zealand doubling after the introduction of the experimental MRNA treatments.
I'm not saying I agree with him, but either way it was incredibly reckless and unethical to force these products on the world's population:
"Too few people are aware that those with “rational drug design” knowledge can predict qualitatively the biological profile of many chemicals and biological molecules, just by inspecting the choices made about what’s in them.
I’m in that category. Leading R&D in allergy and respiratory diseases for decades (Pfizer U.K.) and later the same in dermatology (Ziarco Pharma Ltd), my training & practise involved so called rational drug design. I also have a formal training in toxicology, at a time when it wasn’t really regarded as a discipline. I was fortunate to have as lecturers two professors who played important roles in formalising understanding of “mechanisms of toxicity” for drugs and chemicals. For most, we simply don’t know. We can characterise unwanted activities but not explain them. For other compounds, we have as good an understanding of toxicity as we usually do about how a drug works to bring about benefits (if any).
When I looked at these so called vaccines, I saw several unquestionably toxic motifs. Here are some of them. Do note we cannot predict the magnitude of adverse events because no one has previously calibrated dose (or concentration) vs adverse effects. Time (duration of exposure) is another variable. There will be other variables we’re not smart enough to discern. So what we can say with confidence is that “we can see rational expectation of harms A, B, C & D, because...”. Whether that will not occur or occur in almost everyone awaits clinical dosing.
A. The mRNA technology is inherently very dangerous and this cannot be circumvented. It prompts your body to synthesise whatever protein is encoded in the mRNA sequence. When that happens, your body having made NON-SELF proteins, your immune system will recognise it’s foreign and so it’s level best to destroy the affected cells. Depending on where the injected material goes and how well it’s taken up and translated into protein and for how long, we’ll see autoimmune mediated injury, which could include deaths.
B. They’ve chosen to have the product encode virus spike protein. This protein is known to be directly toxic, for example, it indirectly causes blood coagulation. This is in addition to autoimmune issues as in A above.
C. They’ve wrapped the mRNA in a complex lipid mixture. Some of those lipids are known to be toxic. Additionally, the lipid nanoparticles are known to accumulate in various tissues, including ovaries. The manufacturers knew fhis. The regulators knew this. It is in the peer reviewed scientific literature from at least a decade ago.
D. Spike is very strange and contains sequences which are just similar enough to some of our own gene sequences to make me concerned for autoimmune reactions interfering with processes which depend on things just similar to spike. One of these is syncytin, an essential protein of pregnancy. Immune responses to syncytin after vaccination have been reported.
The “vaccines” could never have worked as advertised. They’re injected & mostly result in blood antibody responses. But blood antibodies are too large to exit the blood vessels and get into the air side of the lungs.
I conclude that these injections have been designed with the deliberate intention of causing injury, maiming some & killing others.
Best wishes
Dr Mike Yeadon

2023.03.25 03:39 Gloomy_Ad_5843 India rape Capital fallacy 2
Reason: why India is not the rape capital of the world.
1.: Media reporting standards are not the same**
India's media reports things differently from media in other parts of the world. Media reports in various parts of the world have themes. American media focus a lot on race issues. Middle East media focuses a lot on sectarian issues. Indian media focuses a lot on gender issues. It would be faulty to not recognize the themes and blindly use media as a barometer.
Crimes get a disproportionate share of India's media reporting. Top news sources in the US, don't report rapes in the way India does. For instance, 25 women in the US were raped/assaulted in the time I took to write this comment (about 30 mins). You wouldn't likely read about any of these 25 cases in the media.
When a woman was sexually assaulted in an Uber taxi in Delhi, it became a major news and the government quickly reacted. But, such crimes involving Uber is fairly routine in the US.
Sources :
http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2014/12/16/least-two-women-who-reported-sexual-assaults-boston-sunday-were-using-uber-police-say/cFHpgzcfIoBYiTfWgOqYOK/story.html http://abc7news.com/325011/ http://www.whosdrivingyou.org/rideshare-incidents.html#SexualAssaults In the US and Europe, such rape stories would come in local media and just move out of national attention. You probably didn't even come across it. US local governments didn't pursue Uber with the same vigor. Indian media selectively picks up a case and rallies around that. This creates a distorted reality.
The sad truth is that it is not India vs. US. It is that women get raped and it doesn't become a big news. See this as a global problem.
2.
Second fact: India's rape rate is not the highest in the world. Not even close According to the 2010 UN data on rape, the rapes per 100,000 people in India is 0.4 and 27.3 in USA. Going by these statistics, rape rate in USA is a whopping 6825% of India, so much for the "rape culture" in India.
Sources :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_statistics http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/top-5-countries-highest-rates-rape-1434355 http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Rapes/Per-capita If you don't like the statistics, construct better ones. Figure out what factor you want to measure that is not covered in the reports from world bodies. Construct scientifically accepted surveys. Get to the root of the problem with logic. Use your stuff between the ears, instead of passing judgements with hot gas.
Under reporting of Rapes Now I know the next thing you'll say is that rapes are under reported in India and it's true, but the matter of fact is that rapes are under reported everywhere in the world, including USA. More than 70% of rapes go under reported in USA.
Sources :
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/21/rape-study-report-america-us_n_4310765.html https://cavatus.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/sweden-a-raped-country/ Now for the sake of argument, let's give you the benefit of doubt and assume that only 5% of the rapes in India are reported and 95% cases go unreported. Also assume that 100% of rapes in USA are reported.
By that logic, the real rape rate in India will be 0.4 x 20 = 8. Now let us go further and double that too, we get 8 x 2 = 16, which is still way less than 27.3 (the rape rate in USA).
Therefore, even if you multiply the rape rate of India by 40, it still doesn't matches USA. This proves that India is a much safer country for women compared to USA.
In cultures across the world, rape carries a stigma. Because, most of the rapes happen with people who are close to the woman. Thus, there is a strong social pressure against reporting. This basic fact is lost on the many who are giving their uneducated comments on the issue.
The number of recorded rapes in India is certainly a substantial underestimate, but even if we take five times—or ten times—that figure, the corrected and enlarged estimates of rapes would still be substantially lower in India than in the US, the UK, Sweden, or South Africa (even with the assumption that there is no underreporting in these other countries). -Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen.
Do you want to discuss rapes or engage in stereotypes? Here is a simple question for those want to discuss this issue:
Are you interested in creating solutions for making women safe across race, creed, class and country?
Do you want to pick up some news item to justify your own stereotypes about a country?
If you belong to the former group, let us constructively engage in a debate on the solutions. If you belong to the latter group, you are not the solution, but the problem.
In summary, this is plainly a media distortion where one country reports rapes with more vigor than an another country. This leads to blind stereotyping that destroys people's lives & careers for no fault of their own.
Instead of getting into such faulty stereotyping without any statistical evidence, let us as humans figure out ways we can make world safer for women. Because, they are getting raped all over the world at an alarming rate.
You still believe India has a "rape culture" and that USA is a very safe country for women?
Even more data :
Rape Data on India Reported Rapes A. Based on United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) data from 2012:
24,923 reported rapes in India, or 4.26 reported rapes for every 1,00,000 women
This places India at 85 out of 121 countries.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdoeoU48DIg Unreported Rapes B. Based on a survey conducted by UN Women:
India reported 8.5 rapes for every 100 women over their lifetimes, based on the answers they gave household-level surveyors.
The question "if the women had experienced sexual violence at the hands of an intimate partner or any other person" placed India at 39 out of 99 countries.
Ten per cent of women in India reported having experienced sexual violence by their husbands during their lifetime. In the UN Women database, this places India at 43 out of 86 countries with comparable data.

http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/comment-article-rape-rhetoric-and-reality/article6705077.ece Rape Conviction Rate According to the Guardian, just 7% of reported rapes in the U.K. resulted in convictions during 2011-12. In Sweden, the conviction rate is as low as 10%. France had a conviction rate of 25% in 2006.
Poor India, a developing nation with countless challenges, managed an impressive 24.2% conviction rate in 2012. That’s thanks to the efforts of a lot of good people — police, lawyers, victims and their families — working heroically with limited resources.

2023.03.25 03:34 TheCubeHamster Picking a school: UC Davis vs. Purdue
With USC being the last top choice that rejected me, I'm looking at the options I have: Purdue for Computer Engineering or UC Davis for Computer Science.
For most, I think Purdue would be the obvious choice given it's a T10 in CE, but I'm also a filmmaker who wants to build up my network while I'm in college, hence why UCD is even on the table right now. Is going to Davis throwing away too much?
I'm also assuming that my transfer app to USC next year gets denied - if I do get it, then this first year doesn't matter too much, but I'm worried that this choice will have implications later on if I don't get a transfer acceptance.
Open to thoughts, also posted this on Purdue's sub and A2C.
